Been talked before, many Poles are pretty hmmm touchy about the mentioned myth. It wasn't. To quote myself: "There's no tank, that's only a symbol of Nazis power. And Poles faced it, with their heads up.", finishing: "...even tho their situation was very bad.". I think this explains this.

City Of Ruins with original (more fitting) music Not only that, Sudayev. They also did the fantastic animations for LUC's music videos, most importantly the 39/89 Understanding Poland project by LUC (imo a must-hear), mentioned some time ago in the forums (W39 topic, I guess You can understand why ;) ) Anyway, check this out: WPzBLDpLYa8 If You like it, be sure to watch the full concert (damn You lo-def YT!) 5xub76yDYd4 Full playlist. I strongly recommend it, there's no words to describe it... But back to Paths Of Hate; Except for the fact I can't access the mentioned website, I heard that on the authors site You can download full 1080p version. It's much better in HD. Plus, I really like the .

Pre 2000 Games you´re still fond of playing
ACPL Jon replied to instagoat's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I almost don't play these, but from time to time I go back or I would be able to do so. My list of great classic games: Jagged Alliance 2 (the only game that made me disappear for 35hrs straight - after that my brain felt like a toast, never again!) Half-Life 1 & Mods (Cry of Fear is coming to town, bitchuuuzzzz!) Ghost Recon (I know it's 2001 - but it's the same "age" of games; Simply a classic + shipload of great mods) Max Payne (also 2001, but You know... it's Max!) Serious Sam (also 2001, but I'm still playing it) System Shock 2 (one of those epic titles most people don't know - SHAME) Shogo MAD (didn't played this in a while, but it's great) Quake 1 (HL1 "DMC" mod RULES) and Quake 2. Delta Force 1 & 2 (I got DF:Extreme just because of the first one, and its decent) SWAT 3 (I lost my CD and my DVD, this make me wanna go violent) Rainbow Six & Eagle Watch, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear + Urban Ops & Mods Close Combat 4: Battle of the Bulge (and the remake Wacht Am Rhein) I also recently discovered why people love Deus Ex. Red Alert 1 and 2. (those would most probably bore me know, but they were good) Hidden and Dangerous 1 (classic) Monkey Island was good, too. Earth 2140 Rally Championship Ubik Incubation Uplink Mortyr Colin McRae Rally 2 Spec Ops: Ranger Assault And also closest to the year 2000 and 90-ish games, Vietcong and H&D2. I played some of these not that long ago, like CC4, Deus Ex, HL1 mods, Vietcong or JA2. And it felt good. I finished big part of those mentioned in the above list, in others I was probably pretty close to doing so. In others... I'm only warming up :D -
Very bad IMO. Artwork is good, music is good, sound is good as well, as I remember. But the game's difficulty level is so damn high; You usually go on a fight with few guys against something like... company? And there's almost no bigger battles. Also, you can't choose if either you want to play the US or Russian-Vietnam missions. And what annoyed me the most was the "tunnel-map" thing. In few missions I tried you could only go through the designed path - no way to flank or anything, restricted in a stupid way. Plus, there are only like... 10 missions? and nothing else.
-
NacroxNicke, I forgive you. Maybe you were tired, or something. I never said I'm against RO Classic mode. I'll be happy to try it. Some of you guys raised valid points. I dislike the quickbandaging too, I know and dislike the hipshooting mg no-recoil thing, I'm also kinda against unlocks and "perks" (it's good to have mode that gives everyone "equality", maybe except the morale system); Tho saying maps are "tunnel like" is unbelivable to me, they are very open and IMO designed very good (I'm still not sure about Fallen Fighters balance), giving so many options for flanking that it's almost impossible to succesfully cover them all (RO 1 maps were SO BAD. It was either an industrial or urban sensless tunnel meatgrinder a.k.a. nadespamfest or big pseudo open maps which were a tunnel anyway: flanking through an open field wasn't exactly the coolest thing ever); TBH except few maps and rushing when lockdown timer occurs, it wasn't that much of a CoD'er to me, but I guess you might prefer the slower one anyway; Nothing wrong with that. And finally, "quickaim" is the way you response in reality, so well... I don't see anything wrong about it. and "RO 1 being slower pace thinking man's game"... well, guys. I know it's supposed to be like that. But it was like that only for the camping ones. And they didn't needed tactics. And the rest was just... just running like a headless chickens and dying in waves instead of doing anything coordinated. Also, someone mentioned "useless MG's" - not anymore, hon. Since one of the patches, they don't shoot laser beams anymore and therefore are damn lethal. One talented MG operator with someone to guard his back can block the whole flank. Now, when the noobs (or the much hated by me, so-called "RO 1 fanbase" as mentioned in the earlier rage post) are mostly gone and the game has been patched, RO 2 gameplay looks usually much better. Peace. PS: They mentioned a new map. AFAIR, in some old, pre-premiere video material they showed the new "Basovka Station" - anyone can confirm it?

Geee, way to be negative, bro's. I, for one, think it might be nice to hear some stories from people around the world. Especially, when they share the same hobby. Don't be assholes. Solidsnake - I had like... 2 or 3, but nothing I'd be able or what would be worth to reconstruct\share. Except maybe that moment when I was like 3 or 4 years old and tried to pee on some electric installation, as reported by my dad. Few centimeter's right and I would be dead. You don't need much to die...

Great news! Any ETA for the new version?
-
BUT his hollywoodish face wasn't good either. I preffered the "f-ed up" version from the first one, like someone mentioned.
-
"The Fourth Protocol" by Frederick Forsythe. Great read, tho a little harsh at start - a lot of details explantation. But as it moves on, it becomes waaaay faster and well... simply epic. "Just" a great "spy" plot set in the 70's. Great atmosphere and it's pretty realistic, not the James Bond stuff. Also, did anyone mentioned legendary "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller? If You liked the (equally legendary) Top Secret humour, You'll love this.
-
You'll love Domination. Also check out Takistan Force, Patrol Ops, BTC Advance and Secure. MSO would be probably too hard for Your hardware and net connection.
-
Very good thing, simplier then TFOR, Domi or MSO and can be played with fewer people then mentioned ones. Also, as out teammate proved, it's easy to port to the other island - and that's great. But, there's two things which I seriously dislike and think it should be improved. First: all of the enemy units are moving, like they are... I don't know. But it's shouldn't be like that. I'd imagine it should go like that - 1 bigger unit defending* the given objective (a village for example) - 1 bigger unit available as "QRF" ("GUARD" waypoint) - 1 smaller unit available as "QRF" (same as above) - 2 smaller units defending* the given objective (within bigger radius then the bigger unit, but also close to the objective.) - few smaller units as patrols (adjustable enemy strenght would be good, there's some script for it on armaholic afair, or you can do it through the mp params) *UPSMON would be good for it, but I think it can be achieved by waypoints and editor commands too Now everything is moving and I guess You can hardly say they are "defending" something, plus it looks a little stupid, like a big migration. Also, the units seems to be set in "fire at will" mode, but WITHOUT "engage at will". Which makes them shoot, but only between moving senslessly back and forth. They hardly or even never assault you or retreat. Changing the mentioned will greatly improve mission gameplay and atmosphere. Second thing: ACE version should also have standard A2/OA ammoboxes (apart from ACE ones), because the ACE ammunition boxes have only like... 16 extra mags? Also, it would be lovely if You would make a Duala version, with rebels, for example. Thanks for the mission anyway and I hope we will see the mentioned updates soon, as this mission deserves them :) cheers!

VERY URGENT: Arma 2 Free people unbanable
ACPL Jon replied to DementedFool117's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Yep. Uninstall the games, delete the folder, install them again in order: ArmA 2 vanilla, Operation Arrowhead, Operation Arrowhead patch 1.60. Launch from CO shortcut. Should work flawlessly. Set up server so it verify's signatures, so You won't be bothered by people with mods. I don't remember when I last saw any game config error in CO, even with ACE. Also, 1.60 rocks. -
How about adding an animated\coded... doors? So You can set one in editor to the necessary building, and then breach'em.

Disaster, then I think it's something wrong with them... or they should play ArmA or Project Reality. Running for kilometers through empty open space, epic-bullshit joke-CQB and animations more stiff then me with an umbrella up my ass aren't really BETTER in any way then pretty fluid and actually presenting the essential battle, RO2. (connect those adjectives with RO1, not mentioned ArmA or PR) Haters gonna hate, most of the "RO 1 fanbase" didn't focus on outmanouvering enemy, didn't talked through mics, wasn't interested in any kind of team cooperation. "RO 1 was realistic" my ass, not when players act like on public domination games. Fuck that "fanbase". (I exclude anyone who enjoyed RO 2, but got bored by all the same maps over and over again) RO 2 require tactics and cooperation and promotes it. It's also 20x times less stiff, better animated and fluid, every "chokepoint" can be flanked or taken from the rear. If You have a 6-8 men team which fight together you stand in great chances to win the battle. And I've yet, through like year or two of RO 1 and DH, FAILED to see that. Yet in "arcade'y" RO 2 or FH2 I saw that pretty often. Therefore conclusion is: Don't got fooled by people, who doesn't really get what's it all about. RO 2 rocks and leave RO 1 far behind. Period. Nicholas - when I play, there's usually 5-6 full servers, ranging from 64 to 32 players. Sort the list by clicking a tab :) or adjust filters.

New Forums: Feedback thread - Bugs/Suggestions here please.
ACPL Jon replied to Placebo's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE: Web-Pages
Same here. New forum GFX just isn't good; Big contrast in font\gfx size, tragic brightness and saturation contrast between font\gfx and background, overally bad looks; it looks like it's supposed to be "so modern", but it fails as much as everything that tries to do so. Don't change good things. That's why usually new stuff (Opera 10+ for example) sucks bad, it's because they try to unnecessarily enhance, what's actually very good. Remember ArmA community is mostly about older and more mature players, and I can bet they prefer simplicity. -
Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
ACPL Jon replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Very, very good. Thank You. -
Since when majority from 27 is 6? This is fucking retarded.
-
Good, now only about that goddamn ACTA...
-
To keep it simple... Max Payne was 90-ish to the bone. And 90's are hard, and most possibly, impossible to beat. New Payne is no way 90-ish. And that's all, no trenchcoat, no cold, no heavy urban junkie, society throw-off atmosphere.

Best Arma 2 server hosting?
ACPL Jon replied to BittleRyan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Agreed with Lonestar, JestServers are de_best. -
Wait, what?

It's like ArmA 3. Not the coolest possible setting, but damn, this gonna be a good game. Really. This video convinced me. Rockstar is Rockstar, after all.
