  1. Hi, I have prepared a small script that should allow you to see what setup files are corrupted. It is just a script which checks the MD5 file but you don't have to know anything about MD5s. check_TakeonBeta.zip You need to download it, unzip/unpack the contents to the directory where you downloaded the beta files to and then run Check_TakeOnBeta.bat . It will start script which checks the files. Please note that it takes a few minutes for each file. Then you will be able to see which file is corrupted. I hope it helps some of you that might have trouble downloading. Oh and a small note - full game download will have no more than 15GB.
  2. I did some tweaking on the direct links(seeing that many of you are using those) - should work better now. I hope it helps to get the game to everyone as soon as possible.
  3. Hello, here is some info about preorder beta you are downloading: Total filesize: cca 7,5GB (Sprocket downloads each container separately) 4 bin files 1,76GB each + 1 exe file 130MB +330MB last bin file Here are the MD5s: e7cc785cfabf6c36ce10c70e23b590f7 *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta.exe b6ff7be4047d6a811f297fa2b9b59de3 *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta01.bin 8fbd60232bffaf979da0fc509e937d59 *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta02.bin 91eb53e72c61ddd4b2bf0c5f8481b450 *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta03.bin d7430d563cc0aa9abf7e7b6761f5d1eb *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta04.bin 9a7acd9855eb37e5873a95e352d58b91 *TKOH_Pre-Order_Beta05.bin I hope this helps ;)
  4. BFCrusader is correct. You can go through the game(apart from the story missions discussed here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=124391 ) in the map only. On the other hand you are able to go through the game spending most of the time remote controlling the vehicles if that is what you like. Personally I prefer mix of both - the hand-ons action and the tactical/strategic planing and "way-pointing", because this way I am able to get the best of both "worlds".

    Walking around questions

Most of the time you are controlling the vehicles from the bridge of the carrier . In some/few specific moments during the story driven campaign you are required to leave the ship and for example sneak through enemy base or go around some high tech signal scramblers and disable them. Here you are just a person (or person in a walrus or manta) and that means that once you die, you are dead => game over (but don't worry unlike in real world we have save/load ;) )

    I'm concerned

I hope I will be able to alleviate your concerns. There are 2 SP campaigns in game: 1 is total free roam campaign very similar to "action mode" in the original CC. You just set up how many islands you have and how many has your enemy and some other starting conditions and then it is just you against enemy carrier. This campaign is in itself a tribute to the original CC (key people at Bohemia Interactive themselves are fans of the original http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/06/13/bohemia-on-carrier-command-arma-iii/ ). 2nd is a story based where in the first part you are being made acquainted with the features of the carrier and stuff like supplies, manufacturing or maintaining and protecting your island network. You find out about these things gradually as you go through story. Once you have your carrier up and running you will be free to navigate the islands you know about and choose where to attack. Your crew will give you hints, suggestions, portions of intercepted transmissions and stuff like that so that sometimes you got some idea what is on which island (eg. tough defense, some interested research center with possibility to find powerful weapon blueprints or enemy gummy bear factory). You will also get objectives connected to story which should make you occupied and intent upon progressing further, finding upgrades and items to upgrade your vehicles with and thus make it easier to defend the enemy. Sometimes you will have to leave the carrier yourself as a foot soldier or in a vehicle. These are the "missions" where the main character can actually die. But these are not the focus of the game and are meant to spice things up and not to kill the Carrier Command feel.
  7. Hello, I would like to answer some of the questions for you. There are 2 human factions. The APA (bad guys) and UEC (You/good guys). Sorry - no aliens :) Checkout the homepage http://www.carriercommand.com/game/units/ , where the unit info will be updated. Apart from Carrier, there are mantas, walruses in multiple armor variants and with many possible weapon loads outs and enhancements (with few button presses you can change a fast recon Manta into a gunship with heavy armor, plasma canons, air-to-ground rockets and powerful cruise missile. Also carrier has UAV recon drone, defensive drones, defensive and offensive gun turrets. The enemy has soldiers and multiple types of battle droids. The bases are defended by wide variety of stationary turrets, weapon outposts and defensive systems. On top of that in some story missions the player will be forced to leave the safety of the carrier and fight on foot with only rifle at his disposal. As others have said here before - no multiplayer at the time of release. Once again no MP at release. You can build weapons, vehicles, fuel, etc. during the battles for individual islands. But you need get it transferred to the carrier after it has been manufactured. Both the manufacturing and the transport take time so the battle might be over before you get the new items. Our team consists of many people that played some part in the development of one or the other Arma games so it is not surprising that many aspects of the controls will feel familiar to the people that played arma game. Still there are some differences but I am sure it won't be anything you can't handle. Yes, it is the main view from the units camera used for direct control. For a bit of a sneak peak check out the trailer at 00:37 There you can see 1st person camera from the Manta. There is no map editor in game but we would like to make some of our developer tools available for the community. But still, provided that there are no showstoppers for the release of the tools, it is to be decided when(release, post release, etc.) and in what extent they are released. CCGM is different from Arma games and although it will not be as open for moders as the Arma series, we trying to make it(as I tried to hint in the reply above) as moddable as possible (As Marek Spanel suggested in the RPS interview, there are some limitations that need to be observed). again, no MP at the release. I would like to correct some of your statements, if I may: 2)The main story campaign of the CC begins with "story based tutorial". Which means that you will gain new and advanced features and technologies as you progress through the beginning of the Story campaign (about 1/5 of the campaign). Gradually more options opens to you and you are faced with new challenges. Once you complete this "training" part (which is really a part of the story, we just call it "training" because player learns about the game controls, carrier features , etc. but he is also learning more about his situation and about what is going on on the planet. 3) That is "classic" campaign. Classic in the sense of following the original Carrier Command legacy with no story and possibility to set tech level, number of islands captured by you and by the enemy etc.
  8. At this moment we are not planning any large scale open betas. We are continuously getting feedback from lot of people outside of the project and the company. For example lately the game was played by one of the developers of the original Carrier Command ;).
  9. Hi, I am sorry to be a bearer of bad news but the space ship is just part of the story/artwork. There will be no combat above atmosphere in CCGM.

    CC:GM World Map

Hi, all islands and climates are in the same map - it is one large archipelago.
  11. You got only one email and you will get only 1 envelope but we will make sure everyone gets same number of maps as number of Arrowheads or Combined Ops he bought.
  12. ...sorry for the confusion... The email is legit. It would be could if you could reply with the confirmation of the address. As we are digital distribution and many users post incomplete addresses we wanted to make sure the data was correct before sending the maps into the world (it is sometimes difficult to distinguish that the address is incomplete and also in some countries the address format might be different from what we are used to here - so we just wanted to make sure the address is alright so that everyone got their map) I sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been inconvenienced by the email. If the email is not answered and the address seems OK we will send the map there anyways ;) Answering will just speed things up as we will be sending maps to confirmed address first. Have a nice weekend ;) PS: the offer for the free map still stands. We decided to prolong it for a little bit Just buy Arrowhead or Combined Ops on SprocketIdea.com ---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:31 PM ---------- Sorry about that - about 15 ppl got email in this format due to error in the script for mass correspondence (the variables should have obviously been filled by your info from the database :o ) I do not know what you mean by that - Each email was addressed to the recipient only. No emails or addresses were published to anyone beyond IDEA Games employees.
  13. Yes, they can be backed up on the DVDs. there are 8files: filesize filename 995467605 setup01.bin 995397413 setup02.bin 994167781 setup03.bin 996031724 setup04.bin 926946906 setup05.bin 880082881 setup06.bin 670820930 setup07.bin 986112000 setup.exe As you can see most of the file are around 1GB. You should be able to burn them on 2 DVDs . But you will need to copy them into 1directory on your HDD when you will want to install them from backup DVDs. Or you can burn them on 1 DL DVD and then you would be able to install the game directly from the dvd. Sprocket downloader downloads files to YourDocuments/Sprocket so you can find the install there once you download it.
  14. Hello, I am sorry for the inconvenience. There is a quick solution to problems with the downloader like these but it "per user" solution. Please write an email to support@idea-games.com or use "contact us" on sprocket homepage and we should be able to work it out in few moments. //EDIT: Defunkt found out a solution to his problem but if you have any trouble with the sprocket downloader write to support and we should be able to help you. Also regarding the patch: All versions of Arrowhead include patch for original ARMA2 (online versions include 1.07, most DVDs include 1.06) The installer has the patch included - it should not look for it in the ARMA2 dir or anywhere else. I got multiple reports from people(customers not developers) who installed sprocket version without problems. If you encounter CRC error with Patch try closing the install and then running it manually again from the directory you downloaded it to (default dir for sprocket downloader is YourDocuments/sprocket/ , file is setup.exe) In any case thanks Wildgoose for pointing out this strange error and possible hotfix. I will have a further look into it. Note/Request: Please do not PM here on the forums with support requests me - use the support contacts provided above - the response time is MUCH better and it also helps to have all tickets in one place ;) Thank you

    Where/how/when to buy ARMA2:OA?

The sprocket version is multilingual: It includes English, French, Spanish, Italian and Czech subtitles
  16. Because some of you were interested in seeing animated clouds we prepared short ingame video showing clouds moving in the sky. MGMFkBxBTuo The sky consists of two cloud layers, the first layer is static for far clouds on the horizon but the second layer composed of closer cloud formations is fully animated - it changes shape and position and is affected by the sun’s position, as well as other weather conditions, so for example the fact that a storm is coming can be read from the clouds getting thicker and darker. All this adds to the real life feel of the sky above Taurus.
  17. these 2 screens were taken only few seconds apart. I just used debug cheat to quickly change the daytime. The clouds are animated and change with time.

    New info?

Hello Steel6, we are planing on releasing some new info here on the boards this week, actually ;)
  20. Hello, I am sorry for taking so much time to respond to this - I was swamped by work and I must have unintentionally missed this thread. To answer your question: To the best of my knowledge there were no legal threats made towards the guy behind the remake of CC. In any case he changed the name of his game to Archipelago and decided to continue his work. (check the link posted above)
  21. Yes this is official forum of the game but we are not planning to release any gameplay video at this time

    Mulitplayer planned?

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself: I am Jan Kunt and I am Executive Producer of Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. In my first official post here on the boards I am happy to confirm that the MULTIPLAYER is to be included in the game . Unfortunately I cannot divulge any more details at this point.
