  1. I'm probably going to get a lot of stick for this, but I wanted to know if THIS kind of infantry gameplay were possible in Arma 3? How complex would it be to design such a mod allowing this sort of interaction with the environment in the game?

Mine's not really a wish by the way, just curious to know.  Thanks.

EDIT: Apologies to the DEVs for incorrectly posting as seperate topic.

After completing the campaign, I quite enjoyed it other than my criticisms in the other thread regarding the required accuracy and sometimes dumb luck with the drone to get rid of AT mines. If there was a little more leeway in accuracy there by a meter or two I'd have zero criticisms; it was worth the price of admission for me. Curious what everyone else's "final decision" was, I won't say any more than that.

That mission was a pain but I worked a way round it buy using the 'x' key to activate auto hover when necessary. Unfortunately selecting it on the menu alone doesn't help.

Indeed. The biggest issue in this respect is that civilian life seems to have completely died out in Arma 3. As I said before, Arma 2 was praised in some reviews for actua interactions with civilians, but all of that has been removed from Arma 3.  ALICE and SILVIE (Ambient Civilians and Ambient Vehicle modules) from Arma 2 allowed for easily adding the civilian faction to the map, in a (mostly) lag-friendly way. With CUP we had thought about porting these again (I believe Varanon already has completed at least one of them, ALICE aka Ambient Civilians IIRC) but required information that was part of Arma 2's maps and models have not been taken over into Arma 3, making these essentially useless on anything but CUP terrains.

I have long expected that the Orange DLC would be about Humanitarian Aid, and I had hoped that these aspects of Arma 2 would be somewhat revived, which is why I am somewhat disappointed with the DLC. Ambiance is, IMO, quite important for an immersive game experience, but at the moment, achieving it is simply too much effort, more so since the civilian "site" modules have also been removed (I suspect because there was not enough assets to make a site "Fishing Village" look convincing, which leads me back to my earlier criticism about the lack of variety).

This has always bothered me since the first day of release. In the beginning I always told myself that, well, BI are continuously developing the game (which deserves more credit than realised) so in the end, eventually, the Civilian Ambient Modules would make a comeback some day.

Yet, alas, they never have. A shame really, I did enjoy using those. They did add to the experience of the gaming.

However I'll be honest in saying that if it were for me, I would rather put priority in improving squad formation and movement within the game, including (and it's about due bloody time) a much improved communication system (for squad, support etc), which hasn't seen change since OFP..!

    T'was a joke my Internet friend :)

      Reveal hidden contents

A more fleshed out first aid system would have hit the spot right after the cluster bomb fell and I had to sneak around Oreo

OK, my bad... just wish they'd invent a sarcastic font :)

  5. Posts about rubber bullets and tear gas: if you're being sarcastic, fine, but if your comment was serious then Jesus, IDAP are an aid organisation for humanitarian purposes, not the Riot Police (or SWAT for the matter)!

What good would that do for them? :headscratch:

erm^4. I watched the dlc presentation on Youtube and I didn't see what we get (technically) with this update. And BTW, this is a war game. No problem for me, I love it and I am easily able to distinguish between a computer game and reality - but many aren't, for mostly opportunistic reasons. Making a presentation which tells "we are peace angels" is a joke. Counter productive and dangerous, it is marketing I do not like. It has the potential to wake the wrong people up - which we don't want. You MAKE A WAR GAME, there's nothing wrong with it. You don't have to feel uncomfortable with this. What you obviously do.

I may or may not have understood you, but I think you're seeing the wrong side of this. By introducing a faction which concentrates on the 'ugly side of war', it is really, with a sense of irony, glorifying it, especially for those who have a wet appetite for this level of gaming.

Laws of DLC, in essence, is just another immersion in the theatre of war. So for those who can't distinguish the difference between this and reality, it's just another excuse to step away from it, which for fans like ourselves, is of no concern nor loss.

X is the standard airbrake button. As far as i know the airbrakes act as wheel-brakes when you are on the ground.

I have tried the airbrake and for, me at least, it makes no difference. Having said that, my airbrakes are mapped on my joystick, but I wouldn't have thought that made a difference?

Or any news about it at all. I sense a similar PR style as before with ArmA3.. say nothing at all until all is done, then release all info at once... gives me some very annoying Apex flashbacks.

Personally I'd rather have that than bits 'n pieces of information scattered throughout the year a la Ubisoft, where the final product is almost nothing compared to the one first announced.

I'm pretty sure that when BI have something concrete to show us, they will. I don't see it being in their best interest otherwise.

  9. Not sure if it is, but another issue I've noticed with the ACRs is that the reloading animations differ between those that have a Grenade Launcher and those that don't. The former uses that from the SPAR-16 while the latter keeps the classic MX animation. If this was intentional or it has already been mentioned, then disregard my post.

However if you plan to fix it, I hope you choose the SPAR-16 reloading version, as it's cooler (in my opinion) ;)

  10. Infectious Diseases Antibiotic Program Maybe they'll introduce elements of Bio-warfare into the game?

Who knows, perhaps we need to think out of the box here. For starters, who's to say it's in English? Orange DLC is being developed in the Netherlands, maybe it's in Dutch instead? A secret code we're supposed to crack for more info.

Intelligent Domotica Aansluit Punt? Nah, doesn't sound right...

Perhaps then there should be a thread on dev branch.   That is the testing grounds as it were and that subforum is more likely to be checked, and more active due to he constant traffic.

I have edited the post and initial comment. Hopefully that should help a little.

  12. Is it possible to create a carrier version of the plane that has the ability to fold wings 'alla' Osprey?

Having asked that, even if it were possible, would the aircraft still be considered 'too big' for the USS Freedom?

Also, folded rotor capability for the Ghosthawk and Huron would be a nice addition too.
