  1. WinXP 32bit

    190.62 WHQL

SLI working in EDITOR.... place yourself in editor and run around... then compare to SLI disabled. Walk into a forest area with lots of green leafy trees (outside main city) and scope... in our case the SLI FPS was 100% faster, 15vs31.

In multiplayer its harder to compare, but the game does on average run 60% faster with SLI enabled.

A fast CPU would be required to feel the difference, my friend has a C2Duo @ 4Ghz.

    Yapa

Do you notice any improvement in campaing?

  2. Was testing ARMA2 at friends place today and I can say SLI works very well in ARMA2... overall increase would be 60 to 70% running around using Very High settings on a 4ghz Dual Core and two 8800GT's in SLI.

In some parts, such as looking and zooming onto tree's the FPS was 100% more.. 15.4 vs 31 !

    Quite impressive scaling!

What OS? Which drivers? In which situations do you notice SLI working? Campaign or muliplayer?

I had the exact same experience mentioned upthread, SLI worked wonderfully and provided a great framerate boost in XP 32bit but it doesn't work at all in Win7 64 bit. As said, this may very well be a driver problem more than an ArmA2 problem, but who knows.

That said, with 8gb of ram ArmA2 still incorrectly detects my video ram and only gives me 255mb of the 512mb is should be detecting (dual 8800GT's in SLI). Yes, I've tried everything. No, nothing works.

I've put ArmA2 completely aside until I come across a fix for this, which I suspect is going to have to come in a future patch.

Same questions for you: Which drivers? In which situations do you notice SLI working? Campaign or muliplayer?

  3. ...and after all that effort, the only thing that worked was to fall back to the Window XP partition. When I did that, SLI worked immediately.

I ran Arma2mark with all "normal" settings, AA and PostProcess disabled, and res at 100% (for my widescreen that is 1360x768) and the score was approximately 3,700. Prior to SLI, it was approx 2,000.

With SLI working, I notice the game handles AA very well. It still doesn't like view distance more than 3.5km or so, but I guess I'm happy with a supercheap Ebay SLI deal that probably gave my video setup another year of life.

This isn't a gripe for BIS. I squarely point this one at NVidia. Something is completely borked on their end.

That's really intresting. Did you try W7?

  4. This thread started with a brutal tone. The searches here are like walking through a zoo... the threads are often 50+ pages long with the real information scattered throughout, and the "stickies" are discussing drivers from June and aren't helping my issues either.

I completely agree with you, i opened this thread beacouse i could not find something really useful for SLI owners, only contradictory and scattered informations. But i was brutally attacked by a user who does not know how to waste his time.

So better all SLI users post here. I asked moderator to sticky this thread.

Anyway... can we confirm that this is a problem with being CPU bound? It seems someone running a speedy i7 shouldn't be having that issue...

What scores are you guys getting with ArmAII-Mark? Did enabling SLI improve your benchmarks? My benchmarks there did not change at all when I added a second 8800 GTX, which makes me think the SLI isn't doing anything. It's difficult to tell if both GPUs are carrying a load, although I do see temps slightly increase on both using GPUz utility. I'm on a Quad (Q6600) that's OCed to about 3.1ghz and using Vista. I've followed all the instructions in DWarden's NVidia sticky:

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76908%20and%20http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=907283

    (last updated 7/21 cough cough)

I even attempted to rollback to 186.18 and use the NVidia patch with no luck. EVGA's SLI Enhancement didn't help.

Can't find nhancer 2.5.3 beta 2 download, but if I do I will try it (mentioned ealier in this thread).

As far as I can tell, SLI is properly configured but is doing nothing to help ArmA2 frames at all. And I'm glad there is a more recent thread, although ideally someone would update the NVidia guide sticky thread, it's ancient now.

I did not notice any improvement ocing my i7 920 from 3,6ghz to 4ghz.

I did not try Arma Mark but i will and i'll let you know. :)

  5. SLi 9800gtx here. Haven't quite figured out MP performance yet. But, I'm under the impression that clients can not achieve a higher FPS than the Server itself, so even if you have an uber rig and you play on a server running Domination or Evo, with lots of AI, and the server is not quite up to the job all clients suffer also.

    Oh that's a bad news :(

How is your fps in campaign?

  6. I was suffering from a similar scenario. I have 2 GTX 275's SLI. I used the 186.18 Driver but first I uninstalled the 190.62 Driver booted into safe mode ran driver sweeper to remove remnants of past driver. I then went to my documents and ARMA2 folder and deleted my arma2.cfg and profile. I installed the new driver 186.18 and the sli patch tweaked the pre-render frames to 8 and forced VSYNC to off. Loaded the game and set my REZ 1680x1050 all to Very High. I get 30 min 60 AVG 90 MAX in-game multi-player. In the Menu I get 90-138 fps. I am stoked!

Oh yeah if you have a GTX 200 series card I figured out the -winxp switch limits frames to 30 kinda weird. So I did msconfig under the boot options and set my memory setting to 4096 hope this helps someone

Intresting, so i should go back to 186.18? :(

My OCing nets 10~15 fps... i think its the better driver/CPU/multigpu support from ATI...AND MY OC voltages are In or under Intel spec...

I pushed my CPU to 4ghz and in Manhattan mission nothing changes.

And, it's weird, i loaded another mission (the one with cycle) and framerate is very good (50-70). it seems that the frames change by missions, even if scenarios are quite the same. Wtf.

On the other hand, i just tried to play online, and it sucks: 30 frames.

  7. Respect is earned and I dare :p

    /ignore 4tw :D

Why are you hammering away at me? Find something else, go kickboxing, or find a woman.

yes thats a sign that you are CPU limited, no matter the vidcard/s the frames stay the same. When i OC my CPU i get in the 45s... Its almost only in the Campaign.

I have my i7 920@3,6ghz i cant believe i'm cpu limited. So i will try 4ghz, and of course online play.

  8. You obviously don't know how to use the search feature properly because I can find reams of information on SLI. You're just lazy and can't be bothered to do any research.

Anyway, enough - Your question has been answered and this thread should be closed and that's not my decision as you pointed out, but it is my opinion.

    /ends

Oh my god, you really need something to do. "You're just lazy and can't be bothered to do any research" how can you dare? I'm not your brother nor your friend, so show a little respect and learn some good manners.

  9. I could care less about your patience

I'm sick to death of people not using the search feature and starting new (and useless) threads concerning topics that have been covered over and over again.

I've been searching for days before opening this thread, over this forum and over internet. So if you think this thread is not useful, get off and find something to do.

  10. They've all been made before mate - this thread should be locked.

    http://forums.bistudio.com/search.php?searchid=354581

Look, i think you are going over my patience dude. I paid this game and i want to get it working. So don't bother me, ok?

I think that is very useful to gather different SLI experiences in an unique thread, so SLI users like me can find very easely all the informations they need. In the link you posted there are many, unorganized, contradictory and scattered information, and is very difficult to find something really useful.

So, please, let the moderators do their job, you don't need to replace them.

And again, please, i would be grateful if you stop bother and give some good tip, in case you have any.

Soo are you talking about the Campaign, or a SP mission... When you go into the editor do you get the same issue, or when you play on line ?

I did not try the editor (i'm not intrested in) and i did not go online (first of all i need to fix performance and the i can go online). I'm talking about campaing, in the wood (Manhattan mission).

  11. Hi all, i'm going crazy with my sli system (2xgtx280) :(. I found some other threads about this argument, but they are quite old and using 180.xx driver. So it's time to talk about new 190.xx drivers and related SLI problems.:p

    My rig is the following:

    i7 920@3,6ghz

    3gb Corsair

    2xgtx280

    Nvidia driver 190.38

    Vista Ultimate 64bit

I cant get one frames more swithcing from Single Gpu to Sli mode. I tried every possible solutions found on the web:

    - remaning arma2.exe in crysis.exe

    - winxp parameter on sortcut

    - forcing AFR2 in Nvidia panel

    - forcing vsync off

    - using nHancer to create a Sli profile

    - using Evga and Nvidia SLI patch

    - setting max rendered frame to 8

    - installing 190.62 drivers (they arent supported by nhancer)

SLI apparently works, load balancing graphs are good, and there's an increase in the menu (from 100 to 150 :D). But when i get into the game frames are capped at 25-28:mad:, exactly like single gpu mode.

The only thing i miss is to install Windows 7. Before doing that i would like to hear your suggestions.

  12. Well me and you are running very similar rigs So I'll tell you how mine is setup for reference.

The MAJOR difference between me and you is Vista Vs Windows 7.

I was running vista at first but had major issues. I partitioned my drive and installed windows 7 and my performance with arma 2 skyrocketed.

And what is your fps with vista? For some reason vista locked my fps at 33 on arma 2. Lots of others had the same problem.

    I run:

    190.62 drivers.

    1680 x 1050

Hyper Threading = off (in the bios)

    Nvidia CP settings

    Ambient Occlusion = OFF atm.

    AF= Application Controlled

    Gamma Correction=On

    AA= Application controlled

    Transparency= off

    Texture Clamp=Use Hardware

    Pre-Rendered Frames=8

    Single Display performance Mode

    Maximum Performance

    SLI-Force alternate frame rendering 2

    Texture Filtering = on

    Texture filtering/neg bias=clamp

    Quality=High Performance

    Trilinear Optimization= on

    Threaded optimization=on

    Triple buffering=off

    Vsync=off

    Game resolution 1680x1050/1680x1050 100%

All settings Very High/PP Low due to preference

With these settings I can run Arma 2 maxxed out with full grass and rarely ever see a dip under 30. Usually 30-50.

If I disable grass I can see upwards of 100fps. Put AA and AF on normal and performance really climbs. However I usually leave them very high, sometimes I tweak them down when fighting in Electrovodsk.

Ok, i'll try W7, but i read about people running Vista 64 who can get their SLi working.

What is your rig? edit: just nocited your sign ;)
