ARMA 2: OA Beta 72716 is up

This is for OA, right? Thread title was not specific, but I assume so ....
  2. OK, thanks for the replies. I always found Steam a bit intrusive and at times a ressource hog. Seems Sprocket is light-weight -OP
  3. Does anyone know if Sprocket installs and leaves behind a resident program that boots up everytime you start your system, similar to Steam ?

US PC GAMER December issue, just a heads up.

Hi, sorry to dig up an old thread. But the pdf-link goes 404. Has anyone stored the article somewhere? Cheers, OP Edit: Nevermind, found it over at http://dl1.armed-assault.de/sonstiges/ (hope it's OK to leave a link?)
  5. Good reading in this thread, thanks Bullman

Arma II & OA User Video Thread

Cool video! Really love the CAS role. Too bad not many missions have that in them. What jet were you flying? -OP
  7. Am awaiting my copy, hands trembling! As a flyboy, is the 10x10 km "limit" for islands removed from OA? Read somewhere that it was. Not so much flying that can be done on the small Arma2 maps, mainly Combat Air Support.
  8. Hey, so did I. And normally Free Delivery is only for UK or US people, but they are gonna ship it to Denmark for free. Paid 22.49 Euro -OP

    JTD Fire And Smoke

Hi, really cool mod with brilliant effects. But gotta support this view - the burning noise need to be more dynamic and directional so that it will diminish as I move away from the fire. Cheers, OP

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

Brilliant work, thomsonb, thanks. Downloading! -OP

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

Just to be clear, I meant that I - while on the ground - would designate the landing site for the helo. So not a random location, once we're in the mission. But I can see what you mean about the complexity. I'll remember it if I come across it in another mission where the mission has scripted extraction. Edit: Just found this discussion within the GL4 thread, perhaps using GL4 it will be possible? http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1572368&postcount=1058 And someone mentions Norrin's scripts - sounds interesting as well: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9140 And MedEvac (really cool video, too) : http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=93811 :)

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

Something else I thought of, while thinking about how I should approach the mission tonight: If allied transport helis are airborne, can I call them to get my group airlifted someplace? Are they "with me" even if we're not grouped ?

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

thomsonb, thanks very much for the swift reply. I'll work the uniforms some more :)

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

Hi, thanks very much for this awesome mission generator. A few total newbie questions came up, sorry: If I "join group", am I then the leader or a subordinate in the group? I spawned in some woods on Chernarus and used the sound of gunshots to approach the action and to find a group I could join. Is there any way, apart from look of uniforms to see who I belong to? I am not really into what different units look like yet :o In my defence, LOL, in an traditional mission I would know what direction my side was going, and where the opposition would be, approximately. Here, these tips don't apply, by design. So that's cool, but some tip would be nice :) Can I enter allied vehicles, helicopters etc. and drive or fly them? Or are they locked for me? And finally, I get shot a lot. What is "field dressing" and what can it do for me? :) Cheers, OP
  15. Great info! Thanks for resurrecting the thread -OP

How to handle dozen of @MODs ?

I would be interested in knowing, too, if having many mods on the command line costs RAM always. Or if they only tax the system if a mission actually uses them? Cheers, OP

New SP Mission "NMD" by Chneemann

Hi Chneemann, it looks very nice! Are any Addons required ? Thanks, OP
  18. Aha, brilliant. Found it :) Will try it out now with a clean rpt file. As for usage, you say that we should keep Arma2 running, Tab out of it and run the tool. Will the tool not work if we close down Arma2 and then run the tool?
  19. Thanks, I've got it working now. Just had to reboot my system. On another note, I wanted to delete the rpt file before trying it out as you recommend. Where is that usually located, I searched quite a bit for it? -OP

    ArmA 2 I/O analysis results

Hm, strange indeed. Still in process of setting up, so can't say if I will need the fully spec'ed path as well ...
  21. Hello, this seems like a very promising tool! I just tried it, though, and ran into problems. I downloaded the archive and ran setup, I then got that the Analyzer app was installed. I copied the 3 BM-missions to the Missions folder and started up Arma2 with no shortcut, just doubleclicked the exe. I selected the city run mission. From there on I just got "Receiving ..." on a black screen for like 20 minutes. After pressing escape I CTD'ed. Any advice, please? Cheers, OP EDIT: Got it working - restarted the PC, that helped.

    ArmA 2 I/O analysis results

I am just going through the same procedure, and read this thread for inspiration. As for your question, you can tell from the paths in Protegimus code that he has all the Arma2_filelist files under R:\@Arma2\Addons -OP

    Alienware M17x...

OK, thanks Mav. That's a nice set of specs you got there

    Alienware M17x...

That's probably right. Is it at all possible to actually run Arma2 with 20+ fps consistently on 1920x1200 - is that hardware built yet?
