    Now it's finally time to release the update, Minihattan v0.5! Expect plenty of bugs and unfinished stuff, but it's well on the way to reach an acceptable status! :bounce3: I release now because I reached a milestone, and the next one is quite far away. What's most important is that I almost reached 30 unique buildings, which can be combined and create a large amount of variations. This means that with some work it will not look like it's repeating. What will be worked on from now is interiors of the buildings, which means both graphically and AI-paths. And the big part will be working on a proper terrain, making proper alleys, parks, different districts and so on. Download link will be up in a 15 minutes!

    Z-fighting or texture error?

    Yep, I did that. I tried moving the texture behind the glass texture to bottom, but no luck really... I also played with the Z bias low/high setting, but I don't rellay understand it, and it sometimes make the texture with High bias visible through other buildings.
  5. Hey guys! I have this problem that I don't understand how to solve. When using a flashlight inside my structures I don't get the spot from the light on the faces of the walls. Instead it looks like the edges of the faces are reflecting the light!?     Yeah, it makes the map look alot better. So I would do it for looks! But unfortunatly I think it's better to create a missiontemplate with those kind of details for two reasons: -If I place them in Visitor they would probably be indestructable and static. -Performance. Should be very easy to create a template with all the details (cars, furniture, people) you would like.

    Thanks! I haven't worked much on AI paths since version 0.3, so it's pretty much the same. In otherwords, some buildings have paths and positions for AI, some not.

  11. Hey guys! I'm currently fine tuning how the buildings look during night time. I would like to know if you prefer the windows slightly lit up or dark. Have a look at these photos and tell me which one you prefer. They can be even lighter or darker aswell.     Hey guys! I'm aiming at releasing v0.5 this weekend if I manage to fix some interiors and some small details before that. I need your opinion on one detail before the release of v0.5. Do you prefer windows with light or dark during night time? The difference is small in the following photos, but the light ones can be lighter or the dark ones darker aswell.     There is some texture issues when I use my models in A3, some are blurry until you get very close and some custom transparent textures disappear. But that should be solveable. On a more abstract and subjective view; I find the ambience from the Arma 2 configs better looking to Minihattan, can't really explain why.... It gets darker and grayer in A2? So I need to work a bit on the lightning in the configs when making the A3 version. The high poly vehicles and weapons from A3 of course make my buildings look like Nintendo 8-bit, so Minihattan would look best in OFP. ;)

    Thanks for the comments everyone! It's all good ideas, redarmy. But as you say, I'll leave that stuff for missionbuilders to save performance. What do you think about the nighttime lightning in the video above?

    Finally Minihattan is nearing a new release! It will be a few graphical improvements and a bunch of new buildings. The bigger part will be unenterable. Currently I'm looking at how the buildings look at night time. I would like them to be slighly lit up to look alive. I'm also looking for an easy way to make the terrain more interesting.

I'm still working on Minihattan, but since it's not going to be the main terrain for these buildings I won't put too much work into Minihattan. Minihattan has served as a testing terrain for the buildings only, and probably won't become a full island with airports, suburbs and forests.

  21. Hello everyone! I'm working on a 10x10km terrain of a fictional area called Signesberg. At the moment it contains 2 big landmasses and 1 island, but I might add more islands later on. I'll start by presenting the island: It's aproximatley 4x2 km big and it has 3 towns and a couple of small villages. The large amount of forest makes it a popular place to go camping and alot of the upper class people from Emita city owns a summerhouse there. Because of its large airfield it has important strategical value for the EDF (Emita Defense Force), and the base there played an important role during the civil war. And now some photos of the island at an early stage, so expect higher detail and better ground textures. Town 1: Town 2: Country houses: More updates to come later. Cheers /Bracer

    Yes, they have. The player cannot walk through it. I think it might be a config thingy, something like "actionbegin/end" or similar... But it just gives me errors whenever I try adding it.

    Hey Stephsen! The AI behaves quite good I think! There is a few places where I havn't made the windows solid, but otherwise they do use the doors (the do go through the doors without opening them... but it's a config problem I believe). If you place a waypoint from one street to another, the AI sometimes shortcut through the buildings and takes cover there, they can take position on the upper floors in some buildings. Add some cars standing in the streets and you'll have very nice urban combat. Cheers

    Hey Angelwing! I have around 21 custom buildings now. Allthough a few needs alot of work still. Recently I worked on unenterable buildings, some are copy-paste with different textures. But they are made in such way that they can be piled on top of eachother and create different shaped skyscrapers. Look at the second picture above and pay attention to the "mall"-building, it has those different unenterable, stackable buildings on top of it to create variation. Cheers
