Hey guys, I finally bit the bullet yesterday and bought Arma 2. Got it all patched up and I'm looking forward to getting my teeth sunk into it.
Anyway, I've been doing the flying training for the choppers continually, specifically the transport training. I just cannot seem to quite get the hang of putting the chopper into a hover and bringing it down properly. I've crashed loads of times and even crashed a few times while trying to bring it down with auto hover on.
For the transport training, I fly on over, and then pull the nose up to slow the chopper down, but even trying to do this gradually, the chopper appears to go to a halt but then begins drifting backwards and to the side. It can be quite frustrating. I'm wondering, should I be decreasing the thrust to bring the chopper down to the ground and then pull the nose back to try and control it better?
I can fly the jets easier...but have crashed them a few times too :) The flying mechanics are certainly different from BF2 that's for sure. Alot more sensitive.
Cheers guys!!

haha perhaps :) But even then it can be tricky to try and hold the chopper steady above the ground and I actually ended up drifting into the side of a tree.
I'm guessing i'll just have to keep on trying until I get used to the flying mechanics....hopefully there shouldn't be any flying involved too soon into the game campaign :S
The next step will then be practicing proper attack runs in a chopper :bounce3:
