  1. I just wanted to take my hat off to B.I.S.; I think they are genuinely trying to make this game as enjoyable as possible. The feature that really convinced me to post this was their fix of the mouse smoothing problem, which took no longer than a couple of days. So, this thread is not intended to become a pissing contest between people who are still experiencing issues, and those who are experiencing less issues, but merely for anyone who agrees that ArmA 2 is overall a good game with the potential to be even better as we help B.I.S. resolve these issues with constructive criticism. We posted our concerns, and they responded. I'm not trying to wax poetic. Anyone else agree? /Sign.
  2. Personally, I think the mouse smoothing should be optional; I read a post under another thread where a moderator said there was little intention to impliment a "mouse smoothing option", since it seemed to be more broken than anything at the time. However, I do honestly believe that implimenting it, while it may be a hassle, would satisfy those who had problems WITH mouse smoothing, and those who have problems WITHOUT it. I am very, very happy with the rate at which patches are being developed and released. It's very nice to see the BIS team working with the community to iron out all problems in-game. I think the true ArmA fans can appreciate that no game is perfect when it is released, and we can help to make things better with constructive criticism. I believe ArmA 2 is an incredible game with a few ticks and tweaks to work out, and I think cooler heads will prevail. Hopefully those who are more upset about the current issues can put themselves in BIS's shoes and realize that a game of this magnitude can be pretty demanding and harder than it might seem to release it without any glitches/issues.

    Unboxing Arma 2

I picked up ArmA a couple of years ago, and it also took some adjusting - little knicks and knacks you get the hang of after a while. Really, the best way to learn is by experience. Online co-op is what ArmA and ArmA 2 are all about in my opinion. I don't think you need to memorize any key mappings beyond your average FPS, so I'm not sure who told you that. I didn't memorize any other than the basics, which are pretty much second nature to FPS players, and I do just fine. The thing about ArmA that might take some getting used to is the gameplay itself. It's much much more slowly and strategically paced than games like COD (COD is probably on the complete opposite of the spectrum). The AI are very smart (for the most part) and one well-placed shot can kill you. Usually the combat isn't the kind in some other shooters, like Halo and COD, where you're basically cramming like 15 people into a phone booth, giving them guns and grenades, and screaming "GO!". Fire fights take place over hundreds of meters, and can last a few minutes. Personally, once I got the feel of it, I could never go back to other games. I played the entire Battlefield series, right from BF1942 to BF2142 to BF:Heroes, and I also played the entire C.O.D. series, and I can't go back to them; ArmA / ArmA 2 is the best FPS / military simulator I have ever played. I'm not a fan boy, either. It might have its flaws, having been released quite recently and still a few patches to go, but I love it.
