  1. Something akin to the SAS of COD4 wouldnt go amiss, they just looked bad ass. Baseball caps with union jacks and black commando jumpers, mega.

You have no idea how much i'd love to see these uniforms in ARMAII as well, with a couple of hat variations (none, boonie, tac-hemlet etc.) I dont think it's actually too far off from the FR units

  2. Could you post the image again not in thumbnail size? I can see it, but not very well

There are other factors that could make the weapon seem bigger/smaller in different photos - personally if you were to post 4 real photos for comparison i'd probably be convinced. Things like the size of the man carrying it, the size of his hands, any other angular or photographic distortion could all make the weapon bigger/smaller. not mentioning the fact that the donor photo might be a slight variant with different specs :p

Scale is a hard thing to get right, and I would personally rather any modeller exagerrated the size +/-10% just to make the animations fit better, however I wouldn't hesitate to support your assertion that the scale might well be wrong. :)

  3. I only recently entered this forum and have read all 72 pages of this topic before i first added something.

wich it seems i better did not...

Hey Recon, sent you a Private Message in response - for the record to others i didn't mean to insult you in any way, and what you said was interesting and useful, and that i'm sorry you got the wrong end of the ugly forum-stick here! :o

  4. It's not exactly as simple as .

Whilst I personally wouldn't be opposed in principle, I don't think it's necessarily right to expect an addon maker to do more work just to support the whims of a proportionally small group of end users. If everyone else wants them, then fine; although it's still Stalkers choice,

Re-read the post - the idea is that he leaves one unit kit without any headgear. that was the request. it shouldn't adversely affect anyone, and I think it's up to Stalker, not the small but loud Brit community of ARMA II gamers (not a bad thing at all, speak up or nothing gets done I say) to shout me down like i'm some kind of paint licking gay-soldier-enacting mod-fascist. I'm sorry Volcbat et al has hijacked this to talk about 'realism' and how other clans should play the game as Brits and respect their 'brand' of realism. I am actually sorry I criticized what you do with that 'roger' joke, and take that back, but I think you get the point... We aren't all the same.

I think it's a shame as we all just want Brit units, and divisiveness like this is unfortunate. I'm sure you're all for the community but try to respect others. I'm no jumped up wanna-be soldier telling people what whims i want, and claiming I know everything (I really don't) thats why I made a constructive suggestion. The very fact i had to make rebuttals speaks volumes about - We all know no better than each other if we cant understand each others requests. I hope you see that!

I'm surprised anyone picked up on my original premise negatively and a bit saddened but this is why i try never to get involved with online communities - I have fallen into the trap of finally finding a game i like. It seems to happen every time a suggestion is made on these boards - from now on I will do as I have done before and offer help (i do texture editing) and requests directly, away from where it could offend your community views.

:) have a nice sunday chappies. I know we all love the 'forum-board' action. :p

So Stryder, you are asking for extra features on this pack but it's nothing to do with this pack?

As for comments straight off ARRSE - ARRSE is full of walts and BNP airsofters with very few serving soldiers, some of us have slightly more insight than that wot we got from the internetz. Prydain might have even spoken to some such people in real life.

Ignoring all of your childish wit fails, I don't think anyone has really set out to criticise your clan's style of play. Just the fact that you are trying to put silly things into an addonmakers head.

Nothing is clear bar the fact that you've just spammed this thread by insulting everyone who questioned your demands.

And for the record, I love the gays, I showered with at least one for years.

Oh and just one quickie Uncle, I actually wished you luck with your modding, I had no ill feelings at all towards what you said - I am happy to report those issues shouldn't be a problem from my experience with ARMAII engine. :yay: so no need for that - I dont take exception to anything you said, so I think it's a bit sad you took exception to me, picking up on your esteemed friend's comments to defend.

  5. @ Airsoft Recon

The head gear I'm talking about has nothing to do with stalkers units at all - just look it up on the latest desert mercs patch to know what i'm talking about. I'd like to be able to choose - you don't have to use the units yourself or put hats onto units every time, they would be supplementary.

Having units without hats would simply allow the community to put whatever they want on the head - not leave it bare.... (unless i wanted to... i reserve this right, my friend. hehe!)

    @prydain

As much as you might hate 'walts' and civvy 'airsoft' pretenders (opinions straight off the ARRSE I see) we are playing a war GAME here... not too different from Airsoft. so keep your pants on kiddo! :p Maybe we are the walts by being here! [insert long hastily written response where you rebutt me with a 'how many inches is my military experience CV' under this post, chappy]

And besides when was it any of your business what people playing a game enjoy putting on their characters heads? maybe you should call the silly police on Mondkalb!? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=5818

....thought not. :j: We are a light realism clan, so go flame up some other people who don't play like you do! We'll leave you to 'Roger' your commanding officer alone.

    @UncleImshi

As for you guv, there are no clipping issues for stalker to worry about because he wouldn't be the one making the custom hats! That's for others to worry about, although if you DYOR then you'd see there is no clipping problems with the Merc units discussed in this thread. That's because modelers make hats separately. With your experience i am sure you know this already, so you might have more success with your previously failed project in ArmaII? Best of luck with that.

    @ all

Is that cleared up? Got to love the casual gay-references and smoking embers! :p

  6. Hi stalker - just thought of something. In the Mercenaries pack the update has units without headgear attached by default, due to popular demand. Would you consider doing this with your units? I am working on a Clan Beret you see. So if there was just one unit that had no hats (well a soldier and medic) then we would be on easy street implementing that.

If it's a lot of bother I wouldn't worry about it, but it would be useful for me :p

    Thanks

  7. just a quick one stalker, will you be making some "off duty" units, like with just the DPM pants and like t-shirts on etc?

That sounds brilliant - I dont know how this works exactly but it would be great to have the .paa from your clan XML appear on the back or breast of a t-shirt! As I said I don't know how it works but it if it's reasonably simple I think it would be wicked! Hope the weathers holding out for you in Florence, bloody miserable here at the moment!

  8. The issue where it seems your framerate in MP is governed by how well the server is running/how people many are playing.

I have a friend who runs Quad SLi GTX 295's with an O/C i7 who only gets 20 frames/sec max on some multiplayer servers, yet when I set up a private game for the 2 of us, the very same settings jump into the 100's framerate, despite having lots of units/effects etc. And that's off my crummy PC!

    I guess it's yes, optimization!

  9. Casualties should decrease in health at different rates depending on the injury. Treatment should lessen the decrease in health and transport should increase the decrease in health depending on the transport. (Dragging them is not so good, medical transport does not have a negative effect). There should be a decrease in health until the wounded arrives in a field hospital at the drop of point.

I like this - my suggestion would be first aid would need to be administered within a few minutes of the soldier being injured, or he dies. Once first aid has been administered, the casualties life span becomes a set number of minutes as defined by injury level (from 10 minutes to an hour). They can only be fully healed by a Medi centre in an FOB (a structure with a HMMVW, a tent, sandbags etc.) Either thats the end of the game for them (and the team loses an objective if this evac doesn't happen to plan) or they are fully healed after a couple of minutes in the medi centre, and can come back as reinforcements. This way those who want to be realistic can be happy, as well as those who don't think the fun should be postponed! :bounce3:

  10. Hi everyone

Does anyone know if there is a mod which creates pools of blood, or splatters which affect the environment around a body - such as splattering of blood onto trees, grass etc?

I think this would add some really good realism to the game - I couldn't find any blood mods except for OFP - If not, does anyone know whether it is possible so I could begin making one myself? I would be interested if the capability was there for blood pools to grow, extend and move around the body.

I know it's a bit gruesome but it just bugs me that this game doesn't have enough blood (that sticks) for a simulator! It's bad enough that limbs don't come off. :butbut:

  11. Simply amazing. If only BIS had the time, funding and manpower to do this kinda stuff to all the aircraft it would shoot arma into the next millennium.

True that - the engine and default missions are just the backbone, i think for most people on this forum it's the work of the community that makes the game worth playing again and again! Really looking forward to this F117 it looks very high quality. :)

  12. @Carl - I like that idea. However i'm not sure how many people would take up on it! G36's always seem a bit unpopular with everyone except me! Perhaps just a mod that restricted the number of people using scoped weapons (class specific carrying only) would make domination a lot more interesting. For instance a heavy gunner can only use LMG's, etc. In a full server I think you would really notice the difference - After all on a lot of servers only pilot's can fly!

@ the O.P - As I reiterate for clarificaion, I can see that not playing multiplayer which is admittedly what this game is primarily about for a lot of people would restrict your weapon experience pretty badly!

@ ProfTournesol - I think w0lle can talk for himself and explain what he meant, I don't know who you are, but don't come out accuse me of 'trolling'; and who is 'everyone'?

What you have said is a bit rude, and I still exert the right to my opinion. As far as trolling goes - over the past 3 days you have averaged 5.33 posts a day. I made 3 today before your response - clearly not the 'troll' here.

Please see the rules as I think what you just said fits in here, in terms of your response:

    §5) No Spam

We deem spam as making a thread or posting a reply that has no real worth, is irrelevant, useless and offers nothing to a discussion.

And I don't think you should be telling me off, anyway - this is a friendly place. Way to beat on someone who has just as of today started to take a discursive interest in the BIS Forums!

  13. I don't know where you get that 70 weapon types. My cover says 40 weapons.

And no one promised you that you can use all the weapon types in the campaign (simply because the 40 weapons include the OPFOR weapons as well).

And what DR has to do with that all only you may know. I wonder if it's possible that people can make their 'disappointed' threads without mentioning that arcade shooter.

Going back to the original post, I understand as I was a little surprised there wasn't a variety of weapons - which is a shame because there are so many in the game.

As for 'no-one promised you' thats pretty hostile and with all due respect 'customer is king' and that's why this part of the forums exists! ;-) You can't slam criticism, as it doesn't bring improvement. I'm pretty sure although I'm quite new to ARMA that BIS care about our views. It is sort of a gripe-post but its a relevant point! I also have the UK edition that promised over 70 weapons or similar, and the suggestion fits well with suggestions for Operation Arrowhead single player, so it isn't irrelevant at all!

The arcade style single player game with different weapons/vehicles/character models is good fun for trying all the different weapons and this was the only time i really got my hands dirty using my favourite 2 weapons, the G36c Eotech and the MG36!

As for Carls Suggestion - it would be quite funny to have different weapons on replays of the game, making it harder and harder (if you so choose) - haha on your 7th replay you could just be given a pistol and 3 smoke grenades!

  14. I don't know too much about modding but if just hitting 'L' in a car gives you lights on it really can't be too difficult to attach it to the guns which already have flashlights on the model!

I happen to think its a great idea, and for militia etc i am pretty certain they would rather be standing there, facing a direction shining their torches out onto the road than blind, in the dark!
