It would be very easy to replicate ear protection, a simple EQ change would do it, you would only need to roll of the higher frequencies and wham everything is muffled.
Im no coder, but I imagine it wouldnt be very hard to do.

EA has access to infinitely better sound recording and processing facilities, and a professional sound design team. Its always going to sound better!

In my oppinion ArmA will not be released on consoles due to the much higher percentage of console gamers with no internet connection compared to PC gamers. If ArmA was released in its PC state on consoles, a lot of gamers would be left with very broken games with no way out. No plublisher would ever take that risk.

Arma has poor sound design for a modern game, the sounds would have been great 5 years ago though however. If I produced audio to Arma standard in my work I would most likely be fired.
Its amazing how modders can producer better sounds, in fidelity, quality and suitability that a professional production studio.

Challenger 2 and tank tracers would be ace!

Tanks have been knocked out by auto-cannons in recent wars. In reality it was because they had damaged critical systems sucs as optics, sensors and moving parts. Of course a smattering of HE or Sabot 20mm to 30mm is gonna do some damage to any exposed systems. Since Arma doesn't replicate detailed damage, such as loss of sights, sensors or external armor/countermeasures you have to make do with pure destruction.

The commander actually has two views he uses, on the M1A1, the gunner's primary sight extension which just displays whatever the gunner sees and the CWS, which is his caliber fifty. He doesn't have an independent sight really and the CWS can in no way be used to control the turret. Now on the M1A2, there is a commander's independent thermal viewer (CITV), which allows the commander to scan for targets. But we don't get that in ArmA.
Ah thank you for clearing that up, The A2 recieved new thermals after the urban kit upgrade didn't it?

I believe in reality the commander of a tank ( at least on M1A2/Challenger/T-90) can slave the main turret to his sights. Meaning he can scan for a target, and then rotate the main gun to face it and have the gunner fire.
IE:
Commander: *scanning battlefield* "Target 3 O'clock" *ranges target and rotates turret* "LOADER, APC 1800m, HESH"
Loader: "UP"
Commanger: "GUNNER FIRE" *bang*
Gunner: "Round Away" Etc.
Commander should have total independence of the main turret and have the abilty to turn it towards a locked target.

Perhaps the one big thing that stops me enjoying this game is weapon accuracy. They are simply far too accurate, to the point where a lot of them become unusable for most tasks.
Examples:
Take an LAV, and put a squad of OPFOR 1000m away. Fire some 5 round bursts of HEI-T at them, hell..do it with the entire 240 round belt. Every shell hits the same location.
Get in an AH Cobra as gunner. Fire the some rounds with the 20mm. Every round hits the same location.
Spawn a Marine with a M240. Go prone and fire some 8-10 round bursts. There is a recoil, with each round going higher the the next slightly, but can be controlled easily. The side to side variation in the bullet spread at 300m is 5 inches at best.
A 10 second search of the internet can bring up a combat video of a vehicle armed with 25mm/30mm engaging infantry. They typically fire a 2/3 second burst and the rounds impact over about the area of half a tennis court. This area is even more when fired from a helicopter ie; AH-64.
I seem to remember playing a mod for Arma1 that implemented real accuracy and variable ballistics. I had a blast playing it, 6thsquad or 6thsense or somthing I cant remember. Actually...Even vannilla ArmA 1 had variable ballistics.

Earlier I was testing the BMP on the mobility course and after clearing a ramp my vehicle flew backwards in the air for about 100-120 feet and landed next to a none-the-wiser grazing cow.
I laughed and cursed loudly.
