I had a great scenario:
Talk to the NAPA leader, follow him down the hill into an ambush, twelves times in a row he shouts "Car!" and gets shot. Most of the time the Chedaky kill me. My favourite was when I hung back, hit the ground as soon as he died, tell my team to get down, seven NAPA run 10m past me shooting at the ambush standing up, and the first burst of machine gun fire stitches four bullets into me... dead.
The few times I survive the ambush, the NAPA leader never does. Any surviving NAPA have nothing to say. No indication of the location of the car. Nobody on the forum has ever posted a grid reference for it so I don't know where it is (grid anyone?)
I finally replayed it taking the chopper (hairbrained for a recon marine in SAM country). Lets see if I can get away from the crash site. At least I now have a functional/useful way point :~
Just for the record another big thumbs down for the super cheesy zone of death player control. Really bad design choice BI. Free reign is not really free after all, is it? Not much choice in mission resolution when it relies so much on particulars of scripting.
I tried for a couple of hours to get south after the death of the NAPA leader (one of the times we lived :P). It seemed totally logical. Recon marines in tip top shape and a forced march to evac, seemed perfect. "How do I keep dying?" I think. What a let down to have come searching here for the problem. There is no Santa Claus, just track A or track B.
