  1. I can appreciate your frustration so I will try to add some feedback (I'm no expert). Stable game play seems to be hit or miss on various systems. However if you had researched more thoroughly you probably wouldn't have purchased Vista and an Nvidia + SLI gfx card for this game. Consequently I assume you may have also missed some of the finer software tuning steps usually required for the game to run well out of campaign mode. My constructive and also expensive suggestion to avoid crashes is to try the following. Replace GTX295 with an Ati 4890 gfx card Replace Vista with XP or Win 7 Add -xp command thingy to your startup icon (limits memory to software parameters) Only select 'High' texture memory option (works best on 1GB gfx card) Install Direct X version that ships with the 1.03 patch Based on my own experience, friends experience + forum feedback, these changes usually always have a postive impact. Note all my friends with Nvidia Gfx cards experience the odd crash every week. Touch wood, I have not experienced one to date with the following system. Win7 OS 64 bit I7 CPU Ati 4890 Gfx card (cat 9.7 driver) Asus Deluxe v2 motherboard (latest bios) Lastly if you have the patience to overcome the crashes and want to best ARMA2 experience money can buy at the moment. Buy an SSD and OC an I7 CPU to 3.8-4.0 ghz. Good luck!

    Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues

Update. After installing the 1.03 patch my rear speakers have become more active in 5.1 modes. The sound is now constantly muffled rather than the occasional LOUD crackles. After playing with some settings I now have stereo through 4 speaks and a working sub. While it’s not true surround sound it sounds much better. Maybe the Direct X version that came with the patch improved my situation...... For those with similar hardware maybe give these sound settings a try. Forte 7.1 sound card (5.1 setting, DTS encoder on, 1.1 OEM drivers) Z-5500 speakers (coaxial input, Stereo x2 setting) Justin

    Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues

Everyone I know including myself is forced to play Arma2 in stereo. Like a large number of people whenever I switch to 5.1 all is hear is LOUD crackling/tearing sounds out of my rear speakers. I have spent a week trying to find a solution without luck and it included buying a new sound card. This process included testing multiple drivers, sound cards and software settings suggested in multiple forums. :( Tested Sound Devices: Sound Max onboard sound -Analog output Creative Audigy 2 ZS - Analog output Auzentech Forte 7.1 - Analog + Coaxial outputs My core system components: Intel I7 920 @3.8ghz Asus 6PT Deluxe V2 Corsair Dominator DD3 6GB Asus 4890 graphics card (Cat 9.7) OCZ Vertex SSD Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system Windows 7 64bit How do we go about acquiring support on this issue? Are BIS monitoring this thread or do we need to log an official request? On a positive note the game plays great minis the sound issue. A fix would make it perfect from my end.

    1.03 Performance

My performance has improved by around 5-10 fps in densely populated areas such as cities and towns outside of campaign mode. Now I see 40-60fps and occasional dips into the 30's flying over coastal cities. However I do experience slight stutter regardless of FPS now and again flying over the big coastal cities. Note an SSD cured most of my stutter issues before this patch. The game plays fast and looks great on my 27' monitor at native res and all settings on high except AA which is at normal. While I’m a happy customer at the moment I will be fully satisfied once BIS release a patch to fix my surround sound issue.
