    Servers benchmark

Server is a Dell powerlege, Intel Xeon E5335 Quad @ 2.0Ghz, 4Gb ram, Server 2008 64bit service pack 2. 8 fps was the lowest with it being 9 for most of the test, no mods running @ Sekra, Our server scored better than Yours and We both know how much faster Yours should be, maybe get them disable hyperthreading in the bios of that server and run it again. Ours only started 14 threads by the way, with 22-25% cpu usage (thrashed one core like the game normally does for ai calculations)

Need help with patching and mods.

Welcome. Do get Arrowhead also to make it Combined Operations (both together), install it into the same folder. Thats what nearly all the servers online run and what the community make content and missions for. Arrowhead runs better too.

    Skyline Sci Fi Film

    The ending, OMG.........WTF?
  5. Two of us completed it in 1hr 1 min by the way, all objectives worked perfectly. Would be a great mission if it didn't lag so much. Its the Zargabad map, it always causes lag, we tend to avoid big missions on it for this reason. Our dedi server lagged too with so much stuff spawning which didn't help. The chopper gunships just flew around, didn't open fire once. Ammoboxes are lacking in good weapons, like the MK17's, M4's and M16's with better scopes like acogs (we don't like red dots and holo's). Any chance of porting it to Fallujah? :D

    An Arma 2 questionnaire

How often do you play and for how long for? 2-3 nights a week What do you play most? Original, OA, BAF or PMC? All Are there any must have MODs for you? WarFx Blastcore and JSRS What utilities/hardware helps assist you? TrackIR5, X-52 and 600W Technics 5.1 :D Do you play singleplayer or multiplayer the most? Both. I like to play small singleplayer missions when the others in our group aren't online If you play multiplayer, what server(s) do you play on? Clan, favourite or random? We got our own dedicated server, play on that mostly http://arma2.swec.se/server/data/125832 What's your favorite role and pet hate when playing multiplayer? Like playing as Medic Hate people who play the game for an hour and decide its shite without giving it a proper go

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

OK, Name 3 other games that need a quadcore for best performance? Up until last year everyone said a higher clocked dualcore was better than a quad. What games have suddenly changed this?

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

Benchmarks are mostly made to sell graphics cards and hardware. Ati and Nvidia finance games in return for input on these benchmarks. In the Crysis benchmarks Nvidia always came out on top, In the Stalker benchmark Ati always comes out better. Sites don't benchmark Arma as unlike other games its cpu and hard drive intensive and doesn't generate graphics card sales. Its one of the few games that really benefits from a quadcore and an ssd, with consoles holding pc gaming back its the only game I actually needed to upgrade for, but not my gpu. My young fella plays Arrowhead at 1680x1050 on a quad with an old 8800gt.

Should I Start With Arma II, or OA?

Combined Ops is special offer on Steam at the moment: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4639/ Only drawback with Steam is that it seems to download the full game every time a patch is released, gets the patches later also. Myself I'd buy from sprocket, a little more expensive but less hassle: http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=33&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2 ---------- Post added at 20:32 ---------- Previous post was at 20:29 ---------- Heres combined Ops for $12.50 http://www.amazon.com/ArmA2-Combined-Operations-Game-Download/dp/B003UV8RRE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1293481891&sr=8-4 Digital download, not retail, but I'm sure You'd get over that.

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

Benchmarks mean nothing in this game. The game is not just the graphics You see on the screen. I could get 60fps in a benchmark and still struggle to run some ai intensive missions. Ai is all calculated on a single core, even on a dedicated server hosting a multiplayer game.

Open the editor, spawn Yourself as pilot in an Apache one side of the map. Spawn an enemy armour platoon the otherside of the map, give them a waypoint to move towards You. Fly by and blow the shit out of them. You can have endless fun in the editor, it just takes a little time to figure out. Its a sandbox, play it as You like. Here's a link to some guides: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055623100

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

See, Arma is not any bit like every other game that renders only the scene You see. In Arma the whole map is calculated for which is why its so hard to run, enemy Ai the other side of the map will be calculated using your cpu. The game, unlike other games, really needs a quad and an ssd for higher settings as its continuously reading from the hard drive and constantly updating Ai position and status. Multiplayer runs a little better, as the dedicated server calculates the Ai. Lots of people don't bother with the singleplayer aspect of this game, multiplayer coops with friends is where it shines

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

Normal renders on the cpu also. You should have no problems running everything on High, viewdistance set to 2000. AA disabled. Set 3d resolution the same as Your monitors native res. Game will look amazing then. Arrowhead runs much better, its mostly that the Takistan map isn't rendering thousands of plants and trees. There are also much better multicore optimisations

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

They take several shots because weapons do have real simulation and ballistics, what seems like a dead on shot to You may be just a grazing, bullets have bulletdrop. You've gotta learn how to use the weapon, learn how to use the scope and judge the distance, even use a rangefinder sometimes. I've often had to google scopes and weapons to learn how to use them, find out what range they had and what the scope was centred on, honestly. Looks like You've running on low textures, post Your specs and we'll advise the best settings for You. Also, as Tanky says, defragmenting is essential ---------- Post added at 13:27 ---------- Previous post was at 13:25 ---------- Settings any settings below normal renders on the cpu instead of the gpu, making the game run like shit and look crap. Post Your specs ---------- Post added at 13:29 ---------- Previous post was at 13:27 ---------- Falling to the ground is an Ace thing, its fatigue. This is why we said play first without Ace
  18. The local and nonlocal vram is NEVER read from the .cfg, written only. Suma posted this fact before
  19. Drawback with Steam is that it downloads the full game again every time a patch gets released
  20. PogMoThoin

    Essential Tweaks & Mods?

I'm with Tanky on this, Ace is too big a mod to be using when You're not used to the game, it completely changes too many things. Play vanilla, then later play with Ace and realise all the things it changes
  21. Crossfire works absolutely fine for Me with a 4870x2. Maybe You should contact Ati for better drivers for their latest cards as its not just this game that has crossfire problems. There is nothing for BIS to fix.
