absolutely. you can be on opposing sides and each take command of your army, let the ai command or a mixture of the 2. if playing benny's it takes awhile for the opposing sides to meet due to the need to capture towns from the treacherous resistance, no fast travel and the need to upgrade structures for advanced vehicles/infantry. if you want to quickly meet your evil brother's army, try oden's in invasion mode. one side starts out with lots of money and quick base building while the other side has much less money but owns all of the towns. there is no resistance controlling towns while playing oden's in "invasion" mode making the battle fast and furious.

Hi Wouser, Any warfare mission can be played the way you want. coop generally have all humans on the same side and do not meet your needs. oden invasion/warfare 4 and benny's warfare are excellent choices for warfare and can be played either coop or player vs player with large human/ai armies. oden warfare games tend to be quicker matches and have a fast travel/respawn as team option while benny's has much harder ai resistance, no fast travel, upgrades to base buildings and can last for many, many...many hours. both of these missions can be found in this thread. warfare is highly addictive so say goodbye to the family for awhile!!

Hi Oden, Thanks for the update, glad to see work continuing! issue - it seems that if i select full map warfare in cold version 4, the game defaults back to 18 towns. tried it several times with different combinations but could not achieve full map, only 18 towns. suggestion -can you have the ability to display squad names on the map so i can quickly determine where i am, where my mates are and where the various numbered ai squads are located? Thanks.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
Gutm@sher replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Damn, your right, hadnt noticed that. must be the first time im glad i have vista! @madog: is your arma quite stable on "very high"? i was having alot of crash issues until i moved to default. of course, for me, arma runs fine one day and crashes 6 times the next without changing anything so its hard to pin it down. need more time with latest beta, but overall beta stability is great so far relative to 1.03. -

darkman, i run on "default" seems to be better performance and more stable on this setting (especially with beta). memory is being reported correctly in config. never seen a solid answer from the devs on where this setting should be and why. i keep my view distance @ 2500 which minimizes my in flight slowdown for helos but jets is still jerky. never had mouse issues so change there for me. -
for asymmetrical fun, try oden's in invasion mode with small number of towns. play as defender. the invader will be throwing heavy armour, attack choppers and jets at you almost instantly. you have to hang on long enough to build up your forces. as for benny's lack of ft, i initially didnt like it either but with the ability of being able to spawn at any base building, mobile respawn ambulances, transport at town center and being able to recruit a chopper from anywhere on the map and having it come to you i now think its much better without ft. movement is difficult until the money starts to flow but that comes fairly quickly. choosing new base locations is key to keeping offensive momentum.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx

Agree maddog. i have a gtx 280 (vista 64) and have tried all of the drivers. 182.50 remains by far the best in my case anyway. i didnt have the receiving bug prior, but do get it occasionally running beta but it's a good tradeoff. the latest driver (190.62) causes blocky, dark display and are unstable no matter what my settings. my 2 cents -
ensure you select "spawn at camps / ai on" for benny's or ai squads will not work. odens can be played as invasion or warfare modes and has many options for number of towns, grass on or off, etc. fast travel is not available in benny's and is only availble in odens when using the full map option. good luck with your warfare gaming, ahmed!

Give Odens invasion warfare and Benny's warfare a try. both are far superior to superpowers. both missions can be found in the user missions section of this forum.

my sound distortion issues / cutting out are gone. if i have a sound complaint it is that the running / gear clanking sound is almost not there when facing straight ahead but can be heard if i move from side to side. not a big deal. never had any previous mouse problems and the latest beta made it even more sensitive and smooth. if only i could say the same about overall game stability and performance this would be THE game! appreciate the updates BI. my specs for giggles: - i7 940 2.93ghz stock - gtx 280 stock speed - vista 64 - 12gb ram - Gut is a capricorn and enjoys gutm@shing with friends -
question concerning the dead guy waiting area - while waiting for the next objective, i decided to go for a swim maybe 200-300 meters from the holding area. when the objective was taken i did not spawn back with the platoon. walked back to the holding area and forced a repawn. respawned in the holding area. at this point all of the previous dead guys had rejoined the platoon except me. i assume there is a limit you can wander off and still spawn back into the platoon when the objective is achieved. can you confirm this oden?

Looking for the ultimate SP Warfare thrill?
Gutm@sher replied to Quantum_Peep's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
grass is enabled via the dropdown menu. in the options for number of towns it goes 6 towns, 12 town, etc and then repeats 6 towns with grass, 12 towns with grass, etc. -
Video memory, very high or default?
Gutm@sher replied to LOulOo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
now wouldnt that be nice? -
the guys with guns in the holding area dont impact the gameplay in any way that I can tell, was just curious if they would shoot me if i tried to run off or failed to recognize how "super-cool" the provided music was! they are friendly enough and told me the weather was going to stay this way for awhile.

Ive only just begun playing w/ this but it seemed to start off easy and get more difficult as i went (playing by myself). first objective was a breeze. i became commander on the 2nd or third objective after the lead elements had an encounter with armour and by the time it came down to me there was only a handful of guys left so i just ordered them into 1 squad. restarted several times as a squad leader but have not run into the issue yet of being platoon commander right off the bat as alpha squad leader. you are right, its just as fun just being a small grunt cog in the big machine. one question: at the holding area for dead guys, i noticed a few still with weapons. are they there to ensure my "cooperation" ?

this is unique. the hc inclusion with chain of command really makes arma2 what it should be. i didnt know arma2 had the ability to put all your guys into a single squad or break them into teams with a single command! great idea of herding the dead guys together for a "grab ass" session while they wait for the next objective and this should keep guys on server if they know they'll live to fight another day. i wouldnt break up the objectives into seperate missions as suggested it would make it much less epic imo. Just a fantastic infantry focused mission with support options and I've only scratched the surface. I also appreciate the ability to have a good game with just a handful of human players (or none at all!). I think you're really on to something here Oden. Thanks again.

Thanks Oden. Always enjoy your work and will give this a go this week.

Thanks for the input. we are currently running aas mission in auto rotation so i'll get with the bubbas and see whats going on there.

Complete noob question here. i cant figure out how to get your mission running on my server. played for a bit last night on military gaming without issue (good fun btw!). the pbo name MP_Warfare32V18E_PE13.Chernarus shows up on the lobby mission list instead of the proton warfare and when you select it, it pops back to our server's default mission. works fine on lan however. here's what i have tried with my server: - place pbo in mpmissions folder only - place pbo and bisign in mpmissions and bikey in keys folder - place pbo in mpmissions and bikey in keys folder. when i joined militarygaming server, it downloaded the mission to the mpcache even though i already had the updated mission in my computers mpmissions folder. I'm sure its something easy i'm hosing up here, but it escapes me. my guys are looking for a good warfare and this is definitely one of them. now if i could only show it to them! thanks in advance.

Thanks Proton. I'll give it a whirl soon. You mentioned oden 3 warfare. I am a big fan of oden's work. the weather effects and airsupport functions are nice but probably the best feature is the variety available. you can have small, medium, large or full map warfare / invasion sessions which are selectable in the lobby. also a nice fast time feature in that night is quicker than day giving the player the variety of fast time without 1/2 the game being with NVGs. Anyone thats interested in warfare gamemode should check it out.

Quick update for when you get back to invasion/warfare. It seems that the mission is a bit unstable post 1.03 patch but still very playable. it could be something on my end, but havent changed anything. this applies particularly to lan as I havent played it much on the server lately but I assume some of the warfare updates in the patch are affecting it. Thanks

Yep, thats what I was trying to do as well. Wanted to run through it abit before introduction to our server / guys. I am not running any addons. I am at work so no access to the arma.rpt atm. Thanks for the quick response.
