  1. Does MOBO model not matter so much in all this discussion of performance? I never see anyone offer it when describing their system. I have a P8Z68 V Pro/gen 3 and I always worry it's not optimized perfectly with all my other components. CPU/GPU etc

  2. Anyone else have a similar setup as me

? I am trying to optimize at every level including possibly upgradeing my PSU? I dont know if that would help with performance but I am around estimated 504 watts draw with a 600 WAT PSU. Game Crashes often when OC the graphics card but no computer crashes.

I feel like the 4GB VRAM isnt doing much in helping me establish higher frames at high 200% resolution (yes, I am being greedy. Anyone heard of windows 8 instability for gameing?

    ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3

Intel core i7-2700K BIOS OC to 3.9ghz

    GTX680 4 GB

    16 GB RAM

    600W PSU

    Windows 8

  3. Here is a legitimate question, is the respawn functionality fixed for the duration of the mission being that it is in the description.ext? Or could the respawn be turned off dynamically like other traditional triggers as in trigger=false etc? I would like to allow for respawn untill a certain objective has been completed by one side on mp, therefore disabling respawn for one side only dynamically during the mission.

  4. Oh so where the Brats are we - NO one forced you to pay for the ALPHA version of the game. The forum is here for general discussion on the alpha version of the game not for one man protests on irrelevant minor issues as this that are likely to be improved within future alpha updates. I was telling you to stop complaining, i was telling you to post your feedback int he official place to report your alpha feedback - that being here http://feedback.arma3.com/my_view_page.php as that's what the Devs are tracking, they are not tracking every thread on the forum which in all honestly is pointless even trying to attempt. So if this is such a big issue to you, then that's where you should be posting it if you want it fixed, not here on the forum.

Am i crying over the negative feedback on arma, no i am not so your assumption that i am when i also clearly stated myself i am not 100% happy with current walking animations (not how they hold their rifles) means i too also gave negative feedback on those animations. So why would i be crying over your giving negative feedback, when i did the same? The fact you felt the need to make such an assumption makes you look even more like the spoilt kid i mentioned in my first post. What is its Wahahahahaha i paid xx amount dollars and the walking animations suck!! That's what your sounding like here, whether you like it or not!

As for your military experience, so what, you were in 3d Combat Communications Unit - So you know how to work a radio! You were in Special Operations Command Central, so you know how to read a map and interpret intel in order to plan special operations missions for special forces units (or maybe you were just assigned to guarding those that could), yeah hardly a person that was a combat unit that fought on the front line and took part on daily patrol or recon ops. And the 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron hardly makes you a front line combat unit either. Off course am not saying you didn't do any front line ops or partake in them as its well know that you likely did along with others in your Unit, but its hardly daily front line ops.

Also its hardly a big deal whether your served in the military or where you did your tours, your not the only one here that has and there's people here that have fought in special forces and/or have been front line combat units and some that served in support away from the front line. So big deal if you were in the military or not, get over yourself for god sake. End of the day its a game made to be as realistic as possible with current tech and know how, its not real life and not every thing in the game will be 100% perfect or the way everyone like its.

And who the hell mentioned anything about your country, i never did, so why even bring that up!

As for your second to last sentence - This is how the devs know what needs changing and fixing http://feedback.arma3.com/my_view_page.php - There is even a link to it on the main menu in the game itself as well as on the Arma 3 website. Try searching before posting next time!

As for just like getting your moneys worth - You sound as though you think you have only paid for access to the Alpha, truth is you have paid for the Alpha, Beta access and you get the Full game for no extra cost on release (possibly DLC for free too and other freebies depending on what version you purchased). So really you have paid for the full game, not the alpha or beta, which do not accurately represent the final product as lots of things will have been changed by time the full game is released. So i'd say you got more than you moneys worth when compared to what other developers or publishers would charge!

Now i have reassessed who is acting like a baby here and its clear to me the one that can not take constructive criticism from some one whom overall agrees with you, is the one that's behaving like a cry baby here, and that's you. And no, your response to my post was not constructive but more based on your own believe in your own self importance. Evidence of that is the fact you felt the need to brag about your military service, to support your stance on the issue of the walking animations.

Yup, it's confirmed. He's mad bro.

So many people on here love to play war on their LCD monitors. You don't know the first thing about any of the units I've been in or what I did for them big guy. Love your quick google synopsis of them though. You're clearly either confused or something got lost in a cultural translation. I didn't come on here telling people about my service. I was defending against some little shit who mention I was Air Force from my avatar and so I wouldn't know anything about holding a rifle. Which proved his ignorance of the military. Sad you wasted all that energy typing up a story. You're right though droikka, they have a way of sucking you in and jacking the OP topic.

  5. The sling is not modeled, yet you can pull your rifle onto your back and draw your sidearm. So it's mean that the sling is present.

-_- I guess if I have to use my imagination.

BTW have you guys seen this post? http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147715-ARMA-3-base-terrain-textures-WORSE-than-the-original-Operation-Flashpoint

In some peoples opinion (not mine) THAT could be a trivial BS thing to "complain" about. It's just a satmap after all. Everything else terrain wise looks great! But he said something, and good on him for it. Maybe a dev sees that and says o shit they noticed and don't like it. Well we weren't going to work on that but I guess we could up the res on the satmap. Same with walking animation variety, offset, detail. Maybe you guys should do your part to make ARMA a better game instead of "ZOMG he said a bad thing about ARMA get him".

  6. This is because GTA is 3rd person only, so they can make very purposed animations without compromises. 99% of other games have separate animation set for 1st and 3rd person modes. Arma has only one set for both first person and third person, plus the actual animations make the character move, so that limits what we can do. Of course we considered modifying the engine so it allowed for separate anim sets, but because of structure of the RV engine, this was practically impossible. Because of that, at some points we ended up having to ballance between handling/gameplay or look, between 1st person look and 3rd person look, and thats why especially combat animations are on the stiff side.

Well then all things considered, they are a marked and welcome improvement.

  7. So brats like you can complain about effing BS!

It was a suggestion. But thanks for your meaningful contribution. You guys get sooo mad. lol And to Katu, while I know that you CAN walk like they do in the anim, UNLESS you had a sling why the hell would you? At least if we are comparing the ARMA anim exactly without a sling model, it would not be comfortable and your wrist would be hurting. Or hell, maybe I just have scrawny weak wrists. And in any case the animations need to AT LEAST be offset. Everyone in the squad walking in complete unison in that particular anim looks ridiculous.

  8. Wow - You don't like the way the walking animations look so you make a great big fuzz over it by creating a thread on the forum about it. Its Alpha, its still WIP!!

Not only that, there is an official feedback channel for Alpha where you can give BIS your feedback. Making a thread about it here makes you sound like a spoilt kid TBH, though am not saying you actually are.

I do agree though that the animations when walking need improving, mainly as they seem to be stuck in a short loop of just 2-3 steps before reverting to the start of the animation (making it look chunky) making the walking animation as a whole look unnatural. But i don't see the need to make a thread about it especially when considering they only recently released a video of doing motion capture, which therefore makes it likely such animations will be improved considering some motion captured animation is already in, the prone animations for example!

You guys are the brats lol. What the hell is the point of this forum? For the fans to give gripe or praise to those that developed a game THEY PAID hard earned money for. This isn't a mod I got for free. No I couldn't do better but I am not a game developer. So enough with the "stop complaining" shit. I've had more agreements to my post then disagreements. You being one of them. So stop crying over the negative feedback of your precious ARMA. I love the United States of America but I don't get upset with people who talk about whats wrong with her and how to improve her. Same with ARMA. So chillax I am on your side. I just like getting my moneys worth.

Oh and another thing. Everyone keeps saying it's ALPHA and to stop "complaining". How the hell would the devs know what to change during the ALPHA if people didn't "complain". smh You need to reassess who is acting like the baby here.

  9. One of the things that turned me off greatly when I first started playing in 08 was the lack of public servers. If it hadent been for the editor I probably would not have stuck around with ARMA. Todays release with dozens and dozens of public servers filled to the brim was a welcome sight.

While I too was annoyed today by spawn base shenanigans and team killing private servers and the clans that are prerequisites for many of them are a turn off for a lot of people who do play correctly. It's just easier to jump into a public and play as a team with the folks in there than sign up with a million forums and clans till you find one that is right for you.

Could you imagine if all the new casual gamers, who despite their tactical shortcomings, are pumping more money to BI, couldent get into games easily. It drives the reputation of the game down and the profits. I pray the game stays popular and public servers stay plentiful.

I am considering joining a realism clan however. Anyone know of one that is as realistic as shack-tac, but without the devotion requirement?

  10. Whole-Heartedly agree. Disappointing considering everything else terrain detail wise looks great. It's the only thing we see at distance when the grass LODs are eliminated. I always hated that grass view distance wasn't allowed to go out further. One because when people look through scopes at distance character models camouflage means nothing.

  11. Why is it that the ARMA engine has such static animation? From a technical perspective I mean. Grand Theft Auto and many other games today, the AAA titles I guess we call them, have fluid natural animations that blend together well. I understand that ARMA has computations that far exceed any of those games under the hood.

ARMA games seem like a bunch of static poses (3D modeled pictures so to speak) that instead of flowing into, we seem to "activate". Is a fluid natural transition from one pose to the next in a realistic time frame too much of a burden for the engine? Would it kill performance terribly? I ask out of ignorance and not judgement. While I am a sucker for the aesthetics, my gripes lie more with lack of new features and disappointing sound engine than the animations. Which are a marked improvement.

  12. I absolutely agree. As far as performance it's much better than Arma 2.

So instead of making a new thread maybe someone with much more knoledge than me can fill me in on what REALLY CAN be be changed in ALPHA state. A lot of people like to throw around the old adage "It's alpha" when defending the developers. My understanding and from expirience is that ALPHA BETA are for fixing bugs, optimization. Not adding features. So at what point does the game get "closed" so to speak from a deep engine perspective where core features cannot be added, changed and tweaked? ie sound engine changes, TOH FM, JAVA functionality.

I was amazed at how much better AO looked from orignal arma but people had to shell out money for that.

Putting out a "half assed" game (not saying ARMA 3 is) and than just saying "oh well the modders will take care of the rest" and laugh your way to the bank is not ok. Let's remember that BI has worked on ARMA 3 for some 3 years now. And when that is consider not THAT MUCH is different. Graphics are a little sharper, HDR, Animations are ALITTLE better but still look like static poses that we "activate" rather than natural human motion like GTA has.

  13. He's in the airforce, wouldn't expect him to get it. When you have a two point sling, you can let your weapon hang and don't need both hands on it.

lol you mad bro? 7 motnh tour in afghanistan, 2011 with SOCCENT. 3rd HERD before that. Assigned to 571st MSAS right now. Look it up. You a cook in the army? Something tells me you arent in the military at all. If you were you'd have a little bit of respect for your fellow military brothers. And you'd know that it dosent matter what branch your in, what matters is your mission, if you wana get gungho, iv shot more people than you blah blah on me. Go play COD.

Oh and uh DO YOU SEE A two point sling on the player model!? Fake ass mofo.

  14. So I spent the better have of 3 hours trying in vain to create a multiplayer mission for a little nostalgic SOCOM SEALs action. The PS2 era games. The tactical, no respawn gameplay would lead itself well to ARMA 3 new streamlined control style.

I unfortunately do not have the mission making ability. Also I fear ARMA 3 in its ALPHA state may require a bit more expertise to edit. So this a call to any fellow SOCOM fans that would be interested in making a very simple suite of missions.

    1. A storm the base style mission from the SOCOM series. One team defends the base, usually walled off to the attacking team that have to first pickup the satchel and deliver it to a target inside the base. It would require at the least a spectator script so players can watch their teamates attempt the win after they die. A timer script to put pressure on the attackers. And lastly, probably more complicated and not entirely needed, a script to let the attacking team know if the satchel/bomb carrier is dead/has been dropped. I can think of a few good locations like Air Station Mike and the village.

    2. The other mission that was popular was a variant of bomb da base. In this mode a centrally located bomb was placed ready for either team to scoop it up and take it to their opponents base. This is as simple as throwing a crate with 1 satchel charge in it and including the spectator and various base locations. This style would fit well in the village area with the bomb centrally located halfway down the water drainage area.

If anyone is nostalgic for a little SOCOM action and would like to make/colaborate let me know and we can further discuss the details. Right now, ARMA is in need of some fun missions.
