  1. Hi Guys,

    Thank you for the replies.

I will try to build some strong points at the towns we take. I really would like to end the mission with all the towns in hand if possible???

But how do I order a supply truck to refuel a vehicle? Does an icon appear that says "Refuel that vehicle"? They never stay still long enough.

Also I hope I haven't offended any real armed forces members by any of my earlier comments. I only make them with respect to the issues within this make believe environment.

Of course in a real war real soldiers tragically die and do not ever come back and I honour them for their sacrifice.

My last question. Is there a way to re-enforce units?

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  2. I am finding that all my vehicles are running out of fuel. How do I refuel them?

Also how do I delete useless units and replace them with other usefull ones.

I have two vehicles missing a crew man and so they just sit there and ignore directions and I have no idea how to get them going again. I had just about captured all the towns but then my divisions started running out of fuel and suddenly enemy showed up from nowhere and started to take them back.

Not that they had them in the firstplace because all the squares were black not red. They only turned red when my squads showed up.

Also, if there are still enemy around after towns are captured why can't they be seen on the Map so they can be dealt with? Whats the point of just going back and forth capturing and re-capturing for ever?

It wouldn't be so bad if it was possible to have more units so that each town could be protected before moving on to the next one, but I haven't found a way to do that.

I'm just about ready to give up on this mission. I thought that it may have been fun but the lack of information on how to operate the game environment is making it all tooooo boring and a waist of time.

Hey developers, how about a proper manual that explains what ALL the symbols mean and ALL the games features and controls?

Also contrary to what that BI chap speaking in the Developers Diary states, I have found that the best way to complete missions so far is the Rambo go it alone way.

My team members are so stupid that they will open fire at a Tank and get everybody killed. In particular, Number 4 is the most stuipd member and no matter what you do to try to keep him from harm, he will always be the first to get himself killed. And so by telling them to Stop, Hold Fire and Go Prone and leaving them where they are, it becomes possible to complete the missions Rambo style.

What is the point of accumulating all that money if you can't buy anything with it?

Why can't I re-inforce my units with men and machines like I could in a real war.

I mean, if a soldier gets killed in a real war the war doesn't end now does it? And when squads lose men, don't they get replaced?

So if this game is suppose to be a "simulation" of real warfare then the developers should start by providing the basic facilities that a platoon or squad etc, would have available and then add all the other "smarts".

Really, when I played the demo I thought that this looked like a really great game and so I paid my money and bought it but now I think that I would rather re-play the Half-Life 2 series again. At least it ony saves when I tell it to and not every minute or less like in Dogs of War.

Sorry for the ranting but I afraid that my frustration is starting to show.

Hopefully BI will make this game playable.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  3. Why is it that for commands 1 to 0 each item has a corresponding number which makes it easy to select a command BUT in the most used Action Menu (space bar initiated) there are no numbers making it necessary to use the stupid mouse wheel that is so sensitive that I always over shoot the wanted selection. I just dont get it? Why not just shoe a mouse pointer to select as well as numbering each command?

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  4. I replayed the Manhatten mission but it took me a long time to find the enemy base this time. It was in a different place than the first time through. Anyway, by the time I find the base it's night time. Luckey I have my night vision goggles and so I call in the artillery and blow the camp to bits killing almost everyone. I then finish off the rest and in the dark it's easy peasy as the enemy don't have night vision goggles on them. :)

I then go back to Manhatten and Shaftoe tell me to get some sleep as we're leaving in the morning but we have one more little mission first to find some evidance. I don't find any evidance and have to fight my way back to Manhatten. I kill everyone at the bottom of the hill first and then go up to find dying Marine who explains what happened.

I then walk up to the rebel officer and he gives me a choice to go to via NAPA or call in Helo.

First time I go with NAPA an we get squeezed into a tiny sedan. Quite funny dialog in the car but we get discovered and although we try to fight our way out we always get killed and so I reverted back to FOB and called for Maddox and the Helo.

Interesting thing here is that he comes in over the sea nice and safe but decides to go back over the land and we get shot down by a SAM.

It's dark when I come to and we have to find the NAPA safe house. Now here is where it plays differently than the first time I played through.

We have to trek for about 2 km with an enemy Helo looking for us but lucky it's night time and we still have our NVG's. Unfortunately when we get to the NAPA safe house, all the NAPA guys are dead and if we hang around too long we all get killed by about 20 enemy. So here we trek all around looking for NAPA in towns and then go back towards the town where we met the NAPA Priest. As we get close to the town in the dark a guy finds us and tell us that the Priest has gone and that we should go back to the safe house. At least that's what I think he said as the captions didn't display long enough for me to finish reading them. Round trip about 6km. We do this and find an enemy ambush and so running away again because too many enemy to kill (this time they have NVG's), I decide to force march south to the pickup point in that town a long long way away.

After treking about 3km south there is a cut scene where are found by friendly CDC forces and that's wgere Badlands starts.

The interesting think about all this is that the first time through (with version 1.02), after getting shot down in the Helo, all the NAPA guys were alive at the safe house. BUT IT WAS DAY TIME and not night like the second time through????

Now I'm doing Badlands but with the CDC and not NAPA and this plays totally differently as well.

    Aint we got fun.... :)

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  5. Well I updated to 1.03 and restarted Badlands OK. Then finished for the night and saved progress. The next day when I restarted the campaign all missions were gone. Yep, I had to restart from the very begining. I don't mind TOO much because I better at it than I was the first time but it could have been very annoying.

I hope no one else experiences this little buggette.

Oh yes, also now I'm upto Manhatten again I get a "Sound Counter Not Found" message just before the next mission (black screen except for date and time count). The message box has a Continue button which I click and everything continues OK. Any else seen this message? I wonder if it could be something to do with the fact that my PC has the RealTek HD sound on board?

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  6. Yeah, it is the radio but don't ask me how to turn it off. It nearly drove me insane. At first I thought that it was one of my team but later it played some music and that made me think it was a radio. It stops when the fighting starts so I just put up with it until it went away. I can't remember when that was though because I become deaf to it after a while.

It happened again in Badlands but it was the radio in an enemy truck I stole.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  7. I'm glad I didn't pay full retail price for the game. By getting it via Steam I got it for about half the retail price.

That said, I just quit Badlands. I got sick of APC's that can teleport to anywhere my squad was and blast us to death. Machinegunners that can shoot through through mountains and a totally useless Map that does not show the enemy positions.

I'm going back to Boot Camp and try to improve my game skills and hope that an upgrade is released soon.

It can get quite boring very soon when you fight against an unbeatable enemy.

    Cheers,

    Luke

Do the developers monitor these Forums? It would be nice to get some sort of response from them me thinks??

  8. Man this game is interesting. The options seem to be endless.

I must be VERY lucky because everything seemed to have worked for me.

Once I found the main enemy base, I called in an artillery strike that took out most of the bad guys including the medical tent.

However, before I could take out the APC I had to contend with a sniper in the flatterened medical tent :o) . I eventually saw his head popping up and took him out and he ended up being the guy I was after.

I then took out the APC with a RPG from one of the dead enemy soldiers.

I then got the call to return to FOB and shaftoe said that we were leaving and we had to lend support until they left. We got attacked but got away in the truck and that was it.

Now playing Badlands. Yet another interesting experience. Don't you just love it :o) .

  9. Have you looked at the Task list (in the Map screen) and read all the notes etc? There are lots of clues there. Keep going there are lots more levels but remember, and as I am finding out also, this is a very complicated "game" and it will take much reading and learning to get the most from the experience.

I got a bit frustrated with all the running around at first but now I get frustrated with other more complicated things. Most of which will get sorted out as I continue to learn how the system works.

I'm tempted to try the Multiplayer but I think I need to learn more skills first.

    Good luck.

    Luke.

  10. Hi All, Thanks you very much for the help. It worked.

I have just given up in Badlands although I may go back to it later.

I captured the three main towns and am protecting the small village as asked to do.

Had to go and fin the bad guys as they didn't seem to want to come into the town.

The reason I have given up on it for now is that after killing all the individual enemy solders, I cannot kill the enemy APC and the Map does not show the APC's correct position. Although I can escape to ambush another day, my team always cops it.

One of the team never does what I tell him to do. I say regroup and he just stays where he is. He is in a porne position and never moves. Therefore the APC eventually fined him and that's it. I can't get past that point.

The problem with the map not showing the corect status is the main problem. I can't see how to command my team when the map shows the APC far away but when I issue a move order, BANG, it right on top of us. You just can't win like that and so what's the point of it?

Has anyone else come across this kind of issue?

    Thanks again,

    Luke

  11. Hi Trapper. Thanks for your reply.

I tried to find the healing action but I just can't see it. However I got the red team member icons to return to normal after I asked them to report their status. Number 1's icon is still red however and I can't see any way to restore it to normal.

I think I've got a lot more reading to do but I'll stick at it. I just think A2 a great challenge.

    Cheers,

    Luke

  12. Thank you for your reply Jayb.

I thought I saw those commands in there somewhere but I couldn't seem to find them when I needed them.

    I will keep trying though.

Just another question if I may?

Is there a way to heal team members so that they are fully able again?

They keep asking for help after I have given them first aid but I can't find any way to give more help? It's as if the first aid isn't enough?

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  13. Hi All,

I'm trying to complete A2 Badlands but am finding it almost impossible to affectively control my team. I cannot find a way to just instruct them to TAKE COVER. I can get them to Stop where they are, go here and there, BUT they always just stand up waiting to get killed. Also one particular member seems to be an absolute fool and always gets killed.

It seems that the enemy AI is much smarter than the Team AI.

Also, why do injured team members always crawl away when you're trying to give them first aid? You have to keep chasing them in order to get the first aid * to stay long enough to press Return key.

Can anyone give me a few clues on how to proceed please? I must admit it's getting a bit boring with such stupid team members.

The developers said that the "Go it alone Rambo method will not work" but this is the only way I have managed to capture the objectives so far.

I take my team to a safe spot, tell them all to Stop and not Fire and then I go and kill the enemy alone, one by one.

Whenever I have tried to use the team, they just keep getting shot one by one, because there isn't sufficient controls to keep them safe.

One I get shot then the new Actual can give the tactic commands I wanted to give but couldnt.

    Suggestions please....

    Cheers,

    Luke.
