  1. Hi all,

I have completed all the tasks in the Tasks List for this Badlands mission, including assinating Priziak (or whatever his name is) and protecting Vishnoya (killed all the bad guys and destroyed their vehicles) and now I'm just hanging around waiting???

Is there anything else I have to do to finish this mission?

I'm playing all the mission through again since patching with 1.04 and I don't recall having this problem before.

Is there any way I can force this mission to end?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  2. I played the mission through both ways. Taking command and also letting the AI command.

Taking command gives more options to deploy forces where you need them but letting the AI command gives more freedom to go where you want.

My fun was diminished somewhat by some bugs and re-load times but overall I really enjoyed this mission.

It did take me several tries to get right through it though.

Since updating to release 1.04 I'm playing the whole campaign through again and so far I have experienced very few bugs and so well done BI.

I'm currently playing Bitter Chill and so still have a couple of missions before I get to DOW.

I wish that BI would remove the End of Mission if a Razor Team member dies. I'm sure they had a reason for doing it this way but it isn't very realistic.

At least they should fix the AI "bug" that causes member 4 to be so valnerable to harm.

I usually leave them in a safe place and go it alone.

It kind of goes against the spirit of the Team but it seems the only way to get through the later missions without continually having to give him First Aid or restart after he dies.

Please do something about this one BI. It would be great to play all missions with the entire Razor Team.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  3. You can get NVG's from enemy officers (after you have dispatched them, naturally).

Or, buy a pilot, shoot him in thwe back, and take his NVG's (Don't forget to hide the body).

Use the Mouse wheel menu while looking at the body and examine his Gear.

Have you done the Boot Camp High Command training? It's a good starting place.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  4. I also failed the Point Liquid regroup time limit (talking to the Doc and Girl) but the rest worked OK.

After destroying all the targets the mission ended with command congratulating Razor for achieving the objectives.

I have since completed all the Single User missions and now that the 1.04 is installed I'm going to play them all over again from the beginning to see if any of the prior anoying issues have been resolved.

    Cheers,

    Luke

  5. I think that it is supposed to be an autorotation.

You are quite right that it can only be attempted ubove a minimum height.

Thrust is controlled by the throttle (a twist grip control like a motor cycle throttle) control which is situated on the Collective lever which controls the pitch of the main rotor blades.

In this very poor simulation of helicopter flight control they use the term throttle to mean Collective control.

In a real helo, the throttle and collective are corollated. That is when you pull the Collective lever up you increase the pitch of the blades and also increase the throttle to provide the necessary additional power.

If you twisted the throttle to reduce power without pushing the Collective lever down as well you would very quickly reduce the main rotor revs and fall out of the sky.

    Cheers,

    Luke

  6. The thing that pisses me off the most is not all the bugs in the DOW mission etc (I was able to play the earlier missions reasonable well), it's really the total lack of any form of response from the developers BI to the many issues and frustrations reported.

Not even a word on their "News" web page. But I'm not surprised. Nothing to brag about here.

This could have been a great game that may even have grown into an award winner, but judging from reading the various forums, they have pissed of so many customers that as word gets around they may just find sales drying up.

This is the first BI game I have purchased and so I say to BI, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me".

I won't be spending any more of $$$ on anything with a BI label on it. After all there are plenty of games available that actually work as they should, have a User Manual that is actually useful, and developers that read and acknowledge the issues posted on their forums.

BI's lack of any form of response is a slap in the face to all that have supported them by buying their games.

Version 1.03 release was almost one month ago and there has been pleanty of time for them to have released hot fixes for at least some of the problems identified by the many "Beta Testers". That's what we all are after all. You couldn't call the current state of this game anything but a Beta Release.

Sorry for raving on about this but as you may have detected. I'M REALLY PISSED OFF.

  7. Thanks Kramxel.

I'm almost sure I've found the enemy base this time.

They have a HQ and Barracks and used to have lots of soldiers and other gear :)

Now there are only 2 tanks left and I'm trapped in the main strong point where I captured the town, with the two tanks outside.

There were three tanks but I blasted one with a Howitzer I found at one of this town's strong points near by.

I found if I didn't capture the strong point (just killed the guys maning the guns) I could use the heavy guns that were there.

Once I captured the strong point, the guns would disappear???

I don't understand the point of this "feature"???

Another interesting thing. If I blasted the Barracks and HQ complex, it just rebuilds itself. Magic?

I have asked for help but that will take a while to arrive.

I think I'm starting to like this mission. It will be a great one to play again when they iron out all the bugs.

For now I'll be glad when it's finished. I hope something happens to tell me when that is.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  8. Can someone please tell me how to mark sections as Spoilers?

There is probably a bit too much information in the section below so please don't read if you don't want to know how I'm tackling some of this mission.

The following section may include some Spoilers

I did revert back to the start of DOW again (restart number 6 I think) and took command.

Put my team in the nearby forest and told them to stay put in a prone position (at least if they decide to go somewhere it will take them a long time) and hold fire.

Then I commanded the main group to take each village in turn while I crawled around picking off as many enemy as I can to help.

    Working quite well so far.

I'm looking for the enemy base but how do I know if I've found it?

I'm now in a town crawling with enemy. I call it "The Killing Fields" because so far I've killed 23 enemy infantry, destroyed 2 enemy BDRMs (satchel bombs are great) and 5 UAZds and 8 enemy Salvage and Supply trucks one of which I've kept and hidden for a supply of ammo for my sniper rifle.

I haven't managed to take this town yet because there seems to be an infinite number of enemy available.

I use a "random" pattern of movement that the AI hasn't been able to work out, yet.

I have now commanded my force to come and help take this town but it will take some time for them to arrive.

If it wasn't for the Tanks I could probably do it on my own but the Tanks don't seen to want to stay still long enough for me to crawl up and put a satchel bomb under them. Jolly unsporting of them I think.

I decided to set myself the task to find and destroy the enemy base as the first task of the mission.

The reason I did it this was this time, is that as in my previous plays when I left this as the last task, reverting to a saved point when I got wounded or killed took up to 2 or more minutes.

It seems to take longer as the mission progesses.

At the moment it takes around 30 to 40 seconds to revert.

Interesting how the rest of Razor team just can't wait for me to get bumped off so that they can take over.

They just start giving commands as if thay are in the thick of the battle instead of being many kilometres away in the forest I put them in for safe keeping.

If I can manage to find and destroy the enemy base, I should be able to finish the mission this time as I already now how to complete all the other tasks the this mission as for.

If this town doesn't have the enemy base then I'll just keep looking until I find it. I'm assuming something will tell me when I eventually find it???

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  9. I know this is not the correct forum for this but I thought that some of the more adventurous amongst us may be interested. :yay:

BI has made Beta Testing ARMA2 available to anyone interested.

You can read about more it at

    http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

I haven't yet decided if I'm game enough yet. :j:

    Cheers,

    Luke.

---------- Post added at 12:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:04 AM ----------

Current release is 1.03.58627 and current beta is 1.03.58932.

Maybe some of the reported issues have been looked at???

  10. I had exactly the same problem when I got back to the main base. I got there and nothing happens.

I checked the Task list and set off trying to find the enemy base. HOWEVER, although I left the rest of Razor team in a safe place (in the nearby forest so they didn't get run over and killed) and told them to stay put and hold fire, while I was away, they still kept getting killed?

I soon found that I couldn't go any further and had to start again for the 5th or 6th time.

So if I can's take my team with me because they ALWAYS get killed and I can't leave them in a safe place because the AI eventually kills them anyway, how is one suppose to finish the mission?

I've decided that this is going to be my last attempt at this mission before a patch comes out to hopefully fix some of the bugs in this mission.

I wouldn't mind restarting so much but if I get killed, I am finding that it takes about 2 minutes to revert to the last save.

I just cannot understand why it takes so long to reload. And what is the "Loading..." and then "Receiving..." all about?

I have a modern and fast PC (Core2 Duo Quad core) 4 GBytes high speed RAM, GTX260 OC, etc, etc and so it should be lightning fast to reload???

It just spoils the flow of the mission. Whats going on here BI? Can we please hear something from you about some of these issues and when we can expect the next pacth?

It would be great if BI could post some brief but regular updates we could read on what is happening to fix the bugs and issues with this game.

I would like to go further with this game but my experience so far has left me with little confidance that other parts of the game engine would work well enough to make investing more time in it worth while.

I hope this changes in the future otherwise this game will soon die a natural death with me and BI won't get any more of my $$$$.

    Say something BI! :(

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  11. I'm on my 4th play of DOW and I had NVGs for the first three when I commanded.

This time I let the AI command and it's just me and Razor team. No NVGs though yet but it's still light.

An interesting situation happened with one of my Helos. It wouldn't obay any directions and so I retired it.

It dissappeared from my team list (icon bar) but it still just hovered overhead making a racket.

In the end I couldn't stand the noise any more and so I shot it down with an RPG. It then landed safely and just sat there nice and quiet.:)

A little buggette there me thinks?

Now let me see... Where is that enemy officer with the NVGs..

    Cheers,

    Luke.

P.S. You gotta love this game for the infinitely variable ways that any mission can play out.

  12. I found it easy to take out most of the heavy stuff at the main base.

Just wait until most of what you want is in a good position (close together on the Map view) and then call in an artilery strike.

This will take care of almost everything except for the machine gun nests and someone in the med tent.

Then just sneak around and pick the rest off.:)

    Worked for me.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  13. Roger that.

It was all getting too bogged down and so I decided to start DOW again.

Loading is back to normal now and so it seems that with everything that is happening after the mission proceeds a while things start to get bogged down and even a fast PC doesn't help.

I'll try a different approach this time and not take command. This will let the AI command the forces and I just go it alone.

I'll capture a UAZ with 50cal and give em the works.

Oh yes. I'll leave the rest of Razor team at HQ so they don't get a broken nail and die on me all the time.

They can watch The Bold and the Beautiful on TV until I get back.:)

    Cheers,

    Luke.

    Luke.

  14. I'm a good way into DOW and I really like most aspects of this game including the RTS parts and the degree of freedom I have to play how I want, but it does need some serious fixing.

IMPORTANT! BI PLEASE give us a proper manual that documents ALL the games features and controls.

I'm sort of groping in the dark picking up bits of information here and there from this forums' members. Information that should and could be documented in a manual.

This game absolutely needs a full manaul otherwise many of it's advanced features will end up being wasted on most players. After all, you can't use something that you don't know exists.

Without this game forum, I probably would have given up ages ago.

BI. It would be nice to hear from you from time to time so we know that you actually read what is being said.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  15. I'm a good way through DOW and it seems that it is taking a VERY log time to get through the Loading.... Receiving.... every time I have to revert due to getting KIA.

It takes about 30 seconds or more to load and since I have to do the often it is very tiresome.

I didn't notice such a long load time before DOW.

I have a fast PC Quad2 Duo Quad Core and 4GBytes RAM fast hard disk etc, and it seems that everything is taking longer to happen.

Even when constructing everything takes several seconds to happen and also including bringing up the Buy Units and Buy Weapons menus.

I defragmented my hard drive without any effect.

I checked integrity of game files and all is OK.

Game play seems normal but anything the involves loading just takes forever to happen.

    Has anyone had this happen????

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  16. Left CTRL + Space Bar opens Higher Command Mode. Then just drag a rectangle aroung the units you want to control and send them wherever you want or attack the bad guys.

It's a good idea to do the tutorials on Higher Command Mode because there is lots in there that will help playing the game better.

Also, you will definately need this for the next mission, Dogs Of War.

BI, PLEASE give us a better manual. There must be so much information on playing this game that we do not have because we don't have an adaquate manual.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

  17. Hi All,

I too am very interested in the answers to these questions.

I've been playing DOW for quite a while and restarted several times, but I just can't find enough information on how to manage the resources to feel that I have any hope of completing the mission.

Here is an interesting example of something that happened just last night.

I captured a strong point with a Howitzer (I think that's how it's spelt) gun and at last I thought "Great! Now I can take care of that pesky enemy tank." but as soon as I approached it, it just dissappeared???

Is it that only the enemy are able to have powerful weapons and we have to beat them with pea shooters?

Also, I'm really tired of my Razor team. They always get killed and so I just find a safe place for them and order them to stay there and hold fire. Then I just crawl around and capture everything on my own.

Does anyone know if the developers monitor these forums? I see lots of issues and questions posted but I don't see any response from the developers.

Developers (if you happen to ever look), although I really like ARMA2, I don't think I would be interested in buying ARMA3 before it got to at least version 2.5. Also I would probably not consider other BI products before lots of research.

Also, BI pleeeeeease update the manual. The current only includes about 10% of the information necessary to affectively play this game.

Not a very satisfied customer at the moment unfortunately.

    Luke.
