now that is classic. ROLLING a cigarette during combat. That is class. What also works really well, is you can get those little camera tripods that are all bendy and clamp on anything. They hold the W key down very well. I VOTE TO CLOSE THREAD and LET THE DRAGON REST IN PIECES. ---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 PM ---------- oh my bad. They should have a section in review scores for "Correct Credits". how correct you are and I give you credit.

I like how they claim that "The previous patches left you wanting more." That's spin doctor city. It infers that because the last two patches were so good, that you want more! uh no. People want more, because they didn't fix anything.

the above link with "thar you go" is the link. Look at the handle "Waftybuz" then the classification under the name as Exec developer or something. Waftybuzz has 20 posts total. Here's the thing, WaftyBuz's only claim to fame prior to Dragon Rising was making those Xbox games from BurgerKing. The ones you could buy for $9.95 with a kids meal? Also was in charge of a failed MMO that was pulled by the investors due to "lack of vision and planning." That is a slap right in the face of the executive producer. The exec prod is responsible for "Vision and Planning." then look at the revolving door of developers doing DR, it is his legacy. Pretty amazing. He's totally unqualified to create anything for gamers over the age of 12.

I didn't do anything. Basically, I started xfire video capture. Dropped some crap in with their editor. and filmed. No setup, not trying. just plop. then pulled in to Microsoft Movie Maker - slapped in some credits. I was just literally running around and filming without even thinking. and that's the result. that's how pathetic is truly is. You don't even have to try to make it look bad. It just does that.

I remember your vid Was like yup. he's right. oh I got comments pages and pages. With every comment there was a "reason" that the AI can't hit you. I was accused of literally scripting them not hitting you, altering the AI, even altering the code on a compiled level. Reality is: You take an AI drop him in the map. You spawn across from him. Don't add a single thing. Just stand there, he'll miss and miss. From there, I was told "You have to make him veteran." so I did. No change. Think about that a sec.... you have to have a Veteran AI to hit a target 20 meters away and not moving, with the same outcome (or lack thereof). So what's the other levels of AI for? So stupid they just shoot themselves after they figure out how to load their unlimited ammo? "You didn't move no wonder they can't hit you." seriously I was told this. That was from some Mr. <banned>. So a moving target is easier to hit than one standing still. Oh so that's the trick to not dying in war. Just stand still. Someone inform NATO. We could save millions in war funding. Just stand still! Why hasn't anybody ever thought of that? Then it was on to Echelon and not moving, pretty soon. To have them hit you, was to have an Echelon with Elite guys in it, and not running at them. but to just move a little. are you serious. can you actually be serious.

Ok, here's what happens. Someone posts something positive about Ego engine. It drones on and on about the qualities of Ego, and people bantering back and forth about the qualities of a crippled and out dated engine such as Ego. It may be the cats ass for a console, but on a PC? it's cramped, un-mod-able, severely limited. Then somebody posts a SINGLE post about Arma2. The dog pile happens, on the person that mentions arma2, the mod panics, closes the thread instantly. then deletes any messages what-so-ever that even mentions arma2. I've never seen anything like it.

yeah, I really just wanted to piss him off enough to crack. ---------- Post added at 10:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:32 AM ---------- Quote post by Helios heh Quote: Personally I think it is rather poor journalism by Ausgamers to base a news story solely on info and game experiences supplied by one person. On all formats, MP and in particular co-op is played by many without experiencing problems, and for them to call it "broken" based on one persons experiences isn't what constitutes proper research into a story in my book. ----------------- Wait a second. The reports of one person? Where were they the last four months? The problems started day ONE. By day THREE their own community was ready to revolt. NOBODY could play multiplayer. Nobody. They truly, think they can just spin and spin and spin. The more I read about CM the more it pisses me off that a company would think so poorly of their paying community, to constantly screw em over. What I say is: "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining." But then again, some people think the game was awesome and the best and yadda yadda. I guess people can be amused with dryer lint of packaged correctly.

but the game did not fry the component. You fried your system with cheap parts. Then Blame DR? Are you serious? BTW genius..... I"m still running my GPU, at 130% power, fans are at 35% power. It's been running harder than anything DR can put out. It's been at it 8 hours and not a burp. You said at 100% after a couple hours, DR fried your GPU. What GPU card you running? If you say 8800 Nvidia then yes, your power leads are ONLY powering your fans. If you're in 9000 class, then the thermal protection, would stop it. Quit buying cheap garbage and then blaming a game for pushing the GPU to it's rated capacity for a couple hours. ------------------------------------- Look this is PCIe 2.0 A single x16 card may now draw up to 300 W of power (75 W from the slot itself, 150 W from an 8-pin PEG connector, 75 W from a second PEG connector), up from 225 W (75 W from the slot, 75 W each from 2 6-pin PEG connectors) or originally 150 W (75 W from the slot, 75 W from a 6-pin PEG connector). The links are also now smarter. They can negotiate a new link width (number of lanes) or speed (whether to use the clock speed of PCIe 1.x or 2.0) on the fly. Power requirements are renegotiated on the fly. The operating system is informed of such changes. --------------------------------------------------------------- If the card requires more power it informs the operating system of such changes and it's controlled ultimately by the operating system. DR cannot increase the power load on the board without the approval of the OS. The OS will not push the power to those leads enough to smoke them. First you blame DR for your smoked leads, then you blame cheap garbage components for burning your leads up. Now you can blame Microsoft. Since the power increase has to be approved by Microsoft. How about Nvidia and ATI while your at it. If you put the cheap parts in that you claim are smoked.... listen up. IT'S YOUR FAULT. Not Codemasters. YOU. ---------- Post added at 10:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:08 PM ---------- uh no. it wasn't. I posted a tombstone. .... sad. ---------- Post added at 10:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 PM ---------- Ok here it is:..... You bought a cheap graphics card. You played a game that pushed your graphics card to where it broke. And you blame Codemasters. Did you inform your loyal fans over there that's what you did? No, not initially. Not sure if you had since though. But you started a hissy fit, because DRAGON RISING smoked your card and look out everybody, DR will fry your computer." NO, You chose to gamble with a cheapo graphics card and lost. It's not CM's fault you voluntarily chose to put in cheap components. It's like buying a junk car, racing it at Lowes Motorspeedway, then blaming the track for burning up your engine.

well, all I know is, my GPU processor runs at well over rated spec's for long periods of time. , fans on 100% power for days on days. I know many people that run theirs on full settings much higher than mine. I have never in 23 years of PC work ever heard of a software program capable of bypassing the thermal shutdown levels in the current class of modern cards, to the point of PEG connectors melting their leads. The PVC is rated at 90C melting point. Nearly boiling. No GPU on the market today with the thermal protection built in would allow operation to the point of thermal sparking melt down. Yeah DR is crap, but never have I ever heard of a GPU being locked so hot to melt the PEG connectors. In the older 8000 class of cards, the PEGs only powered the fans. In the current cards, the thermal protection would kick in way sooner than melting the PVC. The point being, it doesn't matter if you take your GPU, and crank it through the roof and leave it there, for days on days, or if a game does it. In this case, the game was only running for 4-5 hours. Then to complain that a game pushed your GPU to max consumption for hours is what caused failure. If that's really what happened, (rolling my eyes), then the computer/psu/gpu was garbage in the first place. Not the games fault.

Listen you silly people. Dragon Rising may take up the GPU, and push it to 100%. All day long! The initial complaint or "jump up and down with excitement" was when ONE person (name withheld but well known for being over dramatic) said that the leads to the "PEG" connectors ie. Fan power leads melted. Okay think about it. The GPU get's pushed to 100% 4 hours. The fans kick in and try and cool it automatically. They can't. So the result is the power leads to the fans, that have nothing to do with the GPU. Fries. Is everybody smoking something and not sharing? It's like saying your electric fans on the stove can't cool the oven, so it burns out the fan? If the GPU was pushed so hard, the GPU would fail, not your fan. Or in this case the power leads. It's not the GPU that's failing and frying. Nobody yet has reported a GPU failure. Take your fans and push them to 100% and leave em there. Go to dinner, play with your magic nose goblins. Take a week off. Come back and your fans are still maxed out and not even warm. Has nothing to do with the GPU going bonkers..... My fans have been at 100% for weeks at a time without rebooting. The only thing they say is "What's up?" Doesn't matter if the game pushes them 100% or you do it manually. 100% is 100% Now, yeah maybe DR has a bad memory leak or won't let go of an application, but pushing your GPU making the fans turn on 100% and melting the leads..... <boggle> Silly monkeys.
  19. uh. ok. Well the wizard isn't the editor. You can do all that in the editor. The mission wizard and the pvp pack work fine with single player or co-op. Just set game type to co-op. And in response to nobody playing "DM" games. Well with the maps I've done with the wizard/pack, I've had thousands of downloads. You still have to know how to use the Arma2 editor. The wizard doesn't replace it, just makes the creation and parameters of the game/mission mega easier. ---------- Post added at 08:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:55 AM ---------- heheh I fixed them. I uploaded the wrong zip file. :) Weird, just popped in OFP and no flags.pbo file. Found it but I have to patch and really don't feel like reinstalling and so forth. I reuploaded a pile of flags. Just use the above link.

It's because they just got a bunch of money to bail them out. So they spin it like everything else. "We were failing, someone gave us a bunch of cash, now we are proud to announce our new expansion!" "We need more people to make crappy games!" Also notice they are taking the graduates and interns from the school. Which is nice and all, but wouldn't you want the smartest, and brightest to help in your recovery? They have all left!

Here: This is so sad.... Oh the memories.... "Supports alt-tabbing (I just did it)." "It runs way better than Arma2" "The AI isn't that bad" "You don't need a monster rig to play it like Arma2" "noob...learn at least the controls before you criticize a game...and btw OFP2 >>> ArmA2" "That was when i just spent 50$ and trying to justify it.. Look at the numbers arma2 =dead... more people play bf2! "It took me a total of 8 bullets with my SCAR to destroy the helicopter's rotor and cause it to crash and explode. EIGHT bullets... "And I find it rather a quaint and relaxing past time that I often enjoy to Bach, a cup of tea and some fresh cucumber sandwhiches. It's a place of wonderous grammar "Yes, now better known as The Datter Effect. Good-bye Dragon Rising... You pile of dung.

Wow. Nice..... The question remains though.... did they EVER support it? oh and about the physics defying wire job. I took out a machine from the closet and installed DR on it. Patched it. Machine has 8800GT in it and everything is stock. Over clocked it. Ratings were at 130% rated speeds. Then took my fans and turned them all the way up to simulate the PEG wiring supposedly burning up. Left it run all night. it's still running over there. My guy just runs back and forth across the island on a waypoint. BTW.... it takes less than 3 hours to run across. Not 9.

Why is this game not more popular?

I've been playing on my POS since launch and no problems on high/very high. Athlon x2 245 Overclocked to 3.5Ghz Nvidia 9800GTX overclocked 4 Gig Ram 32Gig SSD (arma2 only thing that lives on it.) 1920x1080 Rez HDMI monitor. Windows 7 64bit. Pulls a constant 30fps. Also about mods. Look, there is PLENTY of articles, forums, instructions as well as utilities to load the mods. I haven't typed in a mod string since day one of launch. Even before with Arma.... Armaholic houses most, and if the server you want on doesn't have it posted on Armaholic, they usually have it on their website for download. With Yoma's latest addonsync, you don't need to download the mods from their server, just tell it to launch with equal mods. It's so easy, even a caveman can do it. and Pulverizer, post your dxdiag txt file, and I can virtually guarantee to find something out of date, not needed, or something holding your system back. So, how many fps do you require?
