  1. You are actually supposed to command the NAPA guys to help you take the town. You use the High Command mode, which there is a tutorial in the tutorial section for. You normally activate it using the app button (the one between right ctrl and the windows one). I suppose its possible you are playing a different version of badlands or that yours allows you to do different things than mine but I used NAPA to help take the town.

    Thanks!!

I was trying to take the village on my own because I thought those NAPA guys would reinforce the village... not help me conquer it...

And there's no indication that you have control over them....

  2. I guess sometimes you just have to post here and it will all sort itself out.... LOL

    Just finished the mission....

    This is what I did:

There was one chopper that lands at a specific point everytime, and if I moved in the direction of the village, that spot would be behind me, and so they always got to me from behind...

Solution? I ordered my team to stay proned near the location where the chopper lands. As soon as it closed in... and I mean 5 m close... (I had told my team to hold fire) I ordered my team to fire at will and we toasted the chopper!!!

After that I was free to go to the village following a left approach as to avoid the T90.

As soon as I got to the village there was a small squad of ruskies... I closed in and as soon as I was on top of them I released the hold fire command... it was a slaughter!!

I also noticed an empty ruskie playable APC... so I boarded it!!!

Went to meet the NAPAs in the APC and after that took the APC to the final safehouse...

    Mission accomplished

    I am now playing badlands.

  3. Pretty self explanatory...

I follow NAPA and eventually am dropped of near Navy Sobor... and decide to contact NAPA (for the 2nd time).

My problem is I can't get past that field... too many patrols.. there are 2 helos that drop squads, there's a t90 on the right side...

How the heck am I supposed to reach the contact point????

    Thanks for the feedback!

  4. I'll add on by saying that allowing the game to use all your memory my not be the greatest of things.

If you have a not so powerful machine, forcing it to load all textures in the memory may lead, and leads, to lower performance....

It's kind of a trade off...

In my experience, Q6600 (4GB) with Geforce 9600GT (1GB), using "default" has helped my frame rate...

  5. You can notice it's effects with ArmA2Mark... just use different levels and see the effects on the last test...

Default uses your video card memory configuration...

    Very High only uses 512MB...

If you have more than those 512MB of VIDEO MEMORY, then use default.

On that last test you'll notice the way textures are loaded... using VH it will be progressive... using my default 1GB it loaded all the textures at once.

  6. Lolz... what are you talking about

Kinetic energy is the energy created by a moving object....

Friction... in this case air friction.... is the effect the air has on the helo... it is stronger in the same direction of movement, but in a reverse way.

So, by exposing a larger part of your helo to the direction of friction, you will loose kinetic energy and slow your helo down...

    Hope it's understandable...

  7. Same, and I spent hours trying to get it to fly in a straight line toward the target, which it certainly appeared to do.

I hope I knew that at some point you select your target with TAB... only after you'd be able to get a lock if going on a straight line...

Just checking... don't flame me :)

It's all pointless now since it no longer works for the campaign...

  8. Atleast you haven't made a poll... :p

The question is pretty pointless because in the end you need to adjust both to your needs, not what others have set it to.

Anyway Brightness and Gamma both set to 0.9 here.

The problem is finding something that actually looks good....

Sometimes it will be all too bright... sometimes it's all too dark and sometimes colours seem very undistinguished.

  9. Did you read my first suggestion ?

Shift-clicking the map in game gives you a waypoint and the distance to that waypoint...

I play veteran settings on regular.. the only difference is unlimited saves...

As so I don't get extended map info so I get no target markers on map... but thanks for the info!

    Already did... doesn't work..

Or you can also use a marker. Make it be 100m x 10m and the long way of it will be 100m from the other end. That's what I use to measure.

    Thanks!

I was using the blank trigger as someone suggested on the 1st page.
