  1. i have a question too,

I am playing (just started) DOW in CDF storyline in (v 1.04).

i choosed not to be the supreme commander and as soon as the CDF's take a town i get mission failure. Of the first 7 or 8 towns i have 5 or 6 Mission failures so i dont really see that there is any point in continuing.

The biggest problem is the chedakiz (Which CDF doesnt seems to care about) and their huge amount of APC who keeps flowing in threatening Z-gorsk and the base which means i have to stay back making sure they dont reach z-gorsk and the base.

And i would like to go back to base to buy some tanks but if i do that i will get more "Mission failures" and i already have too many mf's

is it supposed to be like this? I always thought that Allied means that we were fighting together with shared goals and accomplishments but as it is now CDF is just another competitor just like Chedakis except that CDF wont shoot at me.

I managed to complete the game yesterday in v.1.03 playing the NAPA storyline and it worked much better although a few towns were impossible to capture,

To tell you the truth..something with the 1.04 makes the AI more capable but at the same time it can be a negative thing as well, because you get less time to do anything and as I said in another thread, the AI rush any position with BTRs asap you take over. In 1.03 there wasn't a problem like this or at least it was bearable.

It's not that the game got worse, but now suddenly the human player is unbalanced vs. the AI player.

  2. So it could be an option to change to Windows 7?

---------- Post added at 05:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:43 PM ----------

I just checked the logs. I did not find anything poining to any of Nvidia's drivers to be honest.

I am jsut wondering. Should my rig not be able to run ArmA II on more FPS then 15-25 maximum on very high settings?

How about other problems? If you had a blue screen previously, it should be in the log what caused it.

If you got hardware problems, it doesn't really matter what operating system you want to use.

Win7 on the other might be faster than Vista but are you ready to pay the money on October 22nd for a new OS?

  3. Vista 64 bit Home Premium Sp2

---------- Post added at 05:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:24 PM ----------

I have around 15-25 fps wherever I am and then I have all the settings to "very high" except for AA disabled and likewsie Postprocessing.

    resolution 1920x1080

You could do a bit of diagnosis, while vista is not so favored by gamers, it has an excellent diagnostic and error reporting. I fixed my brothers' laptop by checking out this.

here is how to do it.

also I use reliability monitor to troubleshoot hardware/software crashes and problems.

  4. I hope I can get an i7 processor and the 295 GTX card then:) for that amount of money and good enough ram:)

Yeah I will oook into this today since I tested Crysis last night

    It gave me bluescreen

The only thing I am wondering of is if I will solve the problems I have now by building a new rig.

I am not sure but most of it points that way.

For instance it is impossible to run ArmA II stable for me I cannot even run it stable on normal/low.

And the people im playin with has nearly identical rigs and they do not have any problems not close to my problems at least.

There can be a 100 million reasons why you are getting a blue screen.

    you got Vista or Winxp?

  5. Real clouds or close to it. that gives shadows on the ground an move etc. you know what clouds do.

You nailed it with the clouds. I was just thinking what issue I wanted to bring up. The clouds are terrible. It's like OFP all over again. They need to make realistic puffy clouds, not only storm clouds which is like flying through a thick haze.

  6. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but just try the Harrier jet and it seems like the rocket aiming piper was mixed up with the unguided bomb piper. I could be wrong though (the aiming reticule is still wrong), but if I'm wrong, then the bombing aiming still need work.

We're not in WWII and most jets (ever since the HUD was developed) has a built in function to help to aim those unguided bombs. I'm not even gonna get into the guided bombs, because that's none-existent in the game, only AI has it (imaginary).

Here is how it suppose to have a aiming piper of any plane that carries a bomb:

    (real picture)

This is the A-10 aiming reticule (used for both guided/unguided bombing), after punching in the target designation, the onboard computer will calculate the distance/speed/release time so the pilot just have to fly somewhat level to the ground and a not too fast speed to deliver the bombs and can be done within a 1meter accuracy.

Anyone who just barely touched a somewhat realistic pc simulator knows all this.

  7. I've finished Dogs Of War at last :dancehead:

I thought I read here a short while ago that there were some other missions that could be unlocked. Is that correct??

If yes, how does one go about doing this please.

    Cheers,

    Luke.

Completing the single scenarios. I can't do the last one, or whatever it is when I have to fight as a rebel and I got 300 bucks and I supposed to be able to defeat the Russians who rush any village immediately with BTRS and I got like 2 rpg guys who won't listen.

  8. First it's seems to be very buggy and inefficient.

The enemy AI loves to build nothing but pickup trucks and BTR90s and bum-rush each village with it, later scatter around and randomly show up at various places.

When an SP mission start (or the campaign mission with Badlands and Dogs of War), the "AI commander is selected" and issues commands which town to take over and if I fail to take over the mission can end.

This is confusing and doesn't make sense if you ask me.

I can vote for myself to be the commander, but again, if I issue a command which town to take over next and if I'm not physically present during the conquest, then i "failed" the mission.

I can't build helis, even if i built an "airport".

When I build mounted defense they are empty, an now I have to assign my troops to sit in it, which is a waste of my squad slots, since now they are sitting in a mounted position somewhere on the map and I can't use them for the missions.

Same with the strongholds, there are nobody in them, nobody defending them, no guns in them, this doesn't make any sense.

When I buy a machine gun nest or anti-armor or anti-air defense, it should come with a gunner in it, who is not under my direct command (as a quad leader) and will defend the village or base. This would make the towns a lot harder to take over for both me or the AI.

(Right now, I just drive to a place and wait until it turns green then rush to the next one. If I got a few tanks, they can easily hold each position with no further help but it's a waste to build any defense buildings or guns because there won't be anyone in it anyway and I have use my assault troops to defend and now I'm limited with my units where I am on the map, so is the AI)

There are plenty of vehicles sitting empty on the main base and the AI doesn't utilize them, instead they walk to each towns and get massacred by the light armor BTRs and pickup trucks.

The entire game becomes nothing else, but me , building a bunch of RPG guys to take out the light-armor APCs and watch out not to get ran over by the supply trucks.

There is so much potential in this, it could be an incredible feature if it would work right. Imagine tanks, helis, planes and all sorts of combat vehicles and various special ops making contact and waging war.

This entire RTS part needs a serious restructuring and re thinking.

There are more problems, I'm only listing a fraction of the problems so add your own comments.

  9. but how do you dismiss them ??

Select them (F1-F4) or with the spacebar (all of them) then click 0 (zero) and select "communications" then it will have a list and on the list there is an option (disband selected). You can do this with all your troops you got under your command and they go on their own ways.

But warning. If you dismiss them you can't controll them anymore and even then if they end up getting killed , the mission fails and ends.

Sometimes it's best to just order them to stay somewhere out of the war, with the "stop" or "wait for me" command.

  10. When you take the first village, deploy the HQ. Order Razor somewhere safe and leave them there because you won't really need them and they tend to die.

LOL, I dismiss them the first chance I get. I rather have "expandable" troops under my command. This whole idea of commanding 3 guys (taking up 3 slots) while doing this RTS thing is such a waste and it becomes baby sitting, because these guys get shot faster than a rookie trooper out of the factory.

  11. All the radio chatter came in when I wasn't sitting in a vehicle but walking on foot. Then it's hard as hell with the machine gun trucks but (if) the M24 arrives in time (the one that picks up the girl) it will take out the trucks.

Meanwhile get away into the woods (that's what I did) and shoot from there, put the guys in either stealth or prone position not to get them shot and wait until the chopper cleans up the field, then the girl automatically rushes to the chopper once it lands.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  12. I know BIS are working on a new expansion pack, but are there any plans to release another bunch of additional single missions?surely it wouldnt take them long to put a few together to keep us going, there arent nearly enough community single player missions being released to keep me going at the moment & I dont have time to learn the editor myself! :)

You better off searching for highly graded (by the public) user-made SP missions than waiting for official ones. The official single missions won't even let you try all the toys there is in the game.

  13. The armory count is only internal. So score there to unlock more items - or try everything for free in the editor.

SP scenarios count for unlocking the few more SP scenarios.

    Campaign doesn't unlock anything.

    My assumption.

Ohh, I see...it seems like you're right. Although I see no point of locking these things anyway in this sort of a manner. To complete SP scenarios to unlock better weapons would have been more fun, but anyway.

  14. when you are around the trailer just roll your mouse wheel around until you see "UAV" listed on your quick list. Although I didn't like how fast it was flying and turning, It turned out to be useful locating small camps and I marked them with the lasersight for inspection and it did help out a lot.
