And exactly this makes the whole scheme seem fishy: The mod files, accounts etc. are not for sale but “will only be given to the rightful person to carry on Foxhounds work”. One doesn’t have to be a prophet to predict that this person will be the one who purchases the domain/name rights, won’t he/she? In this case, Foxhound would be selling the mod files.

You knew exactly what I meant, he wanted someone to carry on his work, not just give to someone without the dedication to carry it on and give up after a few months or see how such of a task/cost it was then passing it once more to another person.

Fox is a respectful friend for me as many times in the past has helped me a lot. In my mind he should know (I'm sure he knew) the power that had in his hands as this database keeper. So if he decided to quit for his own reasons, he had an "obligation" to transfer this to someone else to continue. He will not get his money back, but this community was never based on money and donations (so far).

Database Keeper? Obligation? em... not at all, he did what he wanted as a fan of the game and it was like a hobby to him too. He did try to pass it onto someone else but then people chose to steal and break into his fileserver without permission, then all the hate comments, mail, etc as I said before why should he happily help those calling him and threatening him? would you? I bloody well wouldn't.

Oh right, so basically over last 15 years he was literally craving over all addon/mission threads for being able/allowance to host them on AH, even makes an updates posts, literally builds his reputation as RELIABLE mirror creator/owner/whatever, which(unfortunately) led to believe that he actually cares about arma addons/community, and that AH is a RELIABLE mirror, and then immidiately shuts down everything without further warning or something, if he actually made a post for example "AH service costs more then i can afford even with donates/subscriptions, unfortunately i have to shut it down, but if community wants to support me (paypal link/whatever) and there would be enough money donated to cover the last years cost i will make whole website available for rehosting somewhere else" or because of some personal issues, everyone would understand it but no, instead he behaves like a biggest [...](yes i know that he returned subscriptions, but that doesnt change anything) and shuts down everything without further warning/some apologize/statement.

And yes, he own this community a BIG statement on why, because remember, there were hundreds of content creators who relied on AH services(again because he built his reputation as reliable arma related host), and boom now everything is gone, so yes, only AH/foxhound is to blame, and nothing will change that, maybe he should have thought about the fact that he managed to build the biggest arma related(and RELIABLE!) site before closing it down with no apparent reason and without time to make some backups, after all, he had 15 years to do that.

and btw, if you think that what jerryhopper did is something illegal/immoral, i will give you an advice, dont even look at what facebook/google/microsoft is doing(and what you are able to do with simple google search bar), because then after realizing it you would spend rest of your life locked in your basement.

Foxhound needn't explain anything! he was nothing more than an Arma lover that chose out of his own heart to host files, run a website, and provide for the community, he DID provide for you all for 15 whole years with not much support or backing at all, and as you should know not everything lasts forever and at some point in life you just wake up and think to yourself, why am I doing this? then just make a change, HE DID just that so stop complaining.

Backups? everything was there until the day the site went offline, I just deleted it all, I mean think of this yea - when we tried to get files OR do anything it was almost impossible due to the stupid hackers and throttling the server, it was so bad any file we were trying to get was corrupted! so blame those who ignored my appeals to (stop what you are doing, we are sorting it out) which I said more than once!

That is right, he owes nobody anything, at least now that the mod files are gone and will not be sold. (Yes, I know, the offer was regarding the framework/database... but most of the value came from the implicit promise of getting access to the files). Otherwise, I would have had major issues with that as a content creator whose early work was hosted on AH.

But it is naïve to think, this way of ending Armaholic would not hurt ones reputation in many ways, especially with the (non-)communication after the shutdown of the site.

As I mentioned before (Fox was away in Scotland, I was dealing with stuff and trying my best to sort it out). So there was communication and something was being done, so what if the site JUST shut down, shit happens!

    Except things that may be

Examples of "illegal" things that come to mind in this case are: selling 3rd party intellectual property without consent/compensation; or selling website users data (including private information protected under GDPR) to a 3rd party (new website owners). So, I dunno what is the plan you guys have, but before you accuse others of illegal activity* you better think about your own actions.

...unless you plan to move to some country further away from EU courts than Scotland.

    * I'm not sure if accessing a public web/FTP server that's not protected can be considered an illegal activity.

Assumptions are not nice, are they? I clearly said before that the Community Files were NOT for sale! just the domain, website, and part of the DB which would preserve the categorized file structure, etc.

So nice darkxess ... because someone here acted wrong and maybe selfish or maybe because you don't like his breath ... the whole community is blamed and has to pay the price ... so nice ... I'm tired even reading all these "shit" (sorry) ... AH is gone with all its "treasure" together and only AH has to be blamed for that. Case closed for me.

No mate, that was only the MAIN reason, I didn't mention all the selfish, ungrateful, nasty, hate posts, messages, emails, that we have received for simply (closing down) did Foxhound deserve it? did I deserve it even though I was doing my best to help? well...?  I get your point of not the whole community, you are right! and for those people, I feel sorry for, but a majority is selfish and hateful and why should Foxhound or even I try to support those kinds of people?

Foxhound owed no one ANYTHING, he has a right to do as he likes! Remember that.

@darkxess i am causing nothing.  the only thing i do, is reacting to the new reality.  A reality that hit everybody as thunder on a sunny day.
The scraping of data was stopped by foxhound himself (when he found out).  Im not sure why you are trying to blame me for stuff i have nothing to do with.

This, and the fact that fox did'nt try reach out to people to take over before he pulled the plug, and the files were still publicly reachable via the web - gives me every right to salvage of what's left.  I understand Fox is your friend - but lets not waste this thread bickering on stuff that already happened.  You do what you can, and so will i.   We just do things differently.  ( ps: i have free rackspace at home, there is always space for few 1-4u boxes.)

Wasn't bickering or blaming you at all man, I am just saying to make things please stop putting pressure on the server while also sharing with others how to do it.

Who is taking these files by the way? just wondering as it seems when I finally get them all I will have to maybe create a torrent as it's massive in size. And please remember Fox wants them to go on to someone who will carry on with what he started.

  8. @jerryhopper can you stop what you are doing by scraping data? and to be clear as I said before everything was paid for out of Foxhound's own pocket including the self-hosted file server which YOU are causing problems
with as I am in contact with Foxhound trying to sort all this out. The servers which Foxhound has always had run his furniture business stuff too. So yes the servers ARE still alive and so is the site, just the domain was
sold, and as Foxhound has stated he will pass on everything including the site to those who want to carry on the work of running it all.

Also if you are wondering why your emails are going unanswered then maybe think why, getting over 500+ emails in the first 24 hours of the tweet really didn't make things easier, imagine replying to all of them?

So please, be patient, and wait! I am working on it and as said before I will reply here once I have a solution for you guys.

Edit: Foxhound is fine, he doesn't have COVID and he simply just met a woman in Scotland and decided to fall in love 😊

Can we let this go now, lets not take things personal and start a little war we dont need.

Foxhound did what he did and thats it, when and i hope he replies to inquires for the database im sure we'll hear about it, in the mean time

lets stay on subject of what jerryhopper is doing, as well as any files anyone else has, and hosting sites, it will all work out sooner or later just

give it some time and leave it at that, we'll need to before Roadkill decides to step in and say pipe down boys and locks the thread, sit tight!

I said what I had to say, anyone else disrespecting Foxhound will be reported! SHAME ON those who think badly against him.

I have sent you a PM too just in case of the obvious so that I can send these files to you once Foxhound has got back to me.

darkxess! Dude haven't seen you since 2020!

Welcome back, i had thought you and Foxhound and i swear there was someone else too along with you two that ran the site, but happy to see your back

and adding to the discussion, your presence here i think will lift up the spirits of the community a bit, i mean your like the right hand man of the da boss himself 😄

I hope that you, wolle, and anyone else can get through to Foxhound, i miss the guy already but i kinda of wished as said before

that he would have started a thread here and said Armaholic was shutting down for whatever reasons, and if you want the database then please

inquire, but it is what it is, so if anything a response would be something from him.

I come and go, just invisible most times and haven't really played ArmA for a while now to either get back into editing or playing, etc.
There was me, Tom_48_97, Sunraa, Viper, BIG, and Foxhound at the biggest point, mostly Fox and BIG kept it alive, I was merely a news poster and moderator on the forums.

Of course there were others that were on the staff but they were just content creators for the YouTube channel. BIG was the guy mostly in charge of posting

mission releases and Fox almost everything. BIG left a couple of years back to have a family if I remember correctly, Viper just quit, Tom_48_97 and Sunraa was not very active

anyway and was only responsible for server-side things then there was me who just dropped out a while back when Armaholic was just not busy anymore for

me to even moderate so Foxhound took it all on himself to keep it alive on his own.

I have always kept in touch with Foxhound, he was a decent guy to help me on a number of my own projects such as (Modsaholic) if you can remember.

He never once asked me for money, nothing of the kind and that is why my previous message to those calling him out thinking he will charge you all for the database

is just pure wrong, he isn't like that! he was a community guy and he gave you all a LOT. Of course, has times got harder in the years since Steam Workshop started

hosting the mods he had no choice really to have a small subscription charge for those wanting faster downloads EVEN though ALL files were still FREE but some

were slower to download than others, he had no choice as ads simply were not paying out anymore, and remember since 2006 this guy was paying a LOT out of his

own pocket so you can't blame him.

He obviously has his own reasons for not saying why or when he would walk away, but so what! he gave 15 years to the community and could have just burnt out

like we all do, he does NOT have to tell any of you f*ck all! he has his own life and you guys all need to respect that. He put out a tweet at least and for me that is

good enough, I am not going to ask him why he shut down the site either, it's none of my business.

Now I can say, knowing Foxhound for many years now I can almost put my hand on my heart and say that he has all the files still, he knows the importance of them

and of course, he wouldn't just delete them, that is the Foxhound I know.

As for the website/domain, it is GONE! I have checked everywhere and it has been sold to a betting company in Sumatra: https://www.whois.com/whois/armaholic.com

since the 26th of May 2021 when it was updated.

I am waiting for the reply about the files and when I know something I promise to let you know here.

I just had a thought, other then Foxhound, who else ran Armaholic that is on these forums too?

I know and think there were two others, i forget the one guy's name but maybe if we can contact him either the forums here,

or email if he has one we can get some info on what maybe happened, and well the most important part ... The Files!

        Anyone?

Me, I am still waiting for Foxhound to reply to me on Facebook, I will let you know in due course.

Just to put this out though, you people need to stop saying the database is for sale! I would personally think that Fox would never do that, the (domain and website) yes!

but as for the community files, no... I think he will give them to the right person who would take care of them and follow on his work.

Remember people, Foxhound did all this file and web hosting for FREE out of his own pocket for many years! at least give the guy some credit.

i Feel Like ArmAholic Website Was Kind Unstable right before it shutdown.

Erm, excuse me??? Armaholic had its downtime sometimes and was of course one of those prone to be D-DoSED at times but unstable? haha... never!

it was well looked after by Fox and even considering its age, thank you.

It would be good to have him comment specifically, other than on what was, until today, a basically abandoned Twitter account...

As a former staff member the Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube accounts had all been misused for a while now about when the time many of the staff got lazy and didn't bother anymore.

Practically Fox was running the place himself and he of course had his own life to worry about too. Steam Workshop really didn't finally put the nail in the coffin in my opinion.

It is really sad actually, Fox was a good friend of mine, I am still awaiting his reply on Facebook to see IF this is actually legit, the last I heard was that he was working on a new website

which could compete better with the likes of Steam.

I do not believe there is such a simple vanilla way to change the hex color. If there was then BI themselves would have used it rather than BIS_fnc_EXP_camp_IFF ( see this function on how to setup your own ) which uses drawIcon3D.

There was, it worked for me before like I said I lost the method on how I did it as it was an old mission long deleted. Oh well, if there is no way now then it doesn't matter, thanks anyway 🙂

  15. Here you go mate, all fixed and as it once was. Changed around some of the values to fit it exactly onto the helmet as before but also commented out attach too for my own reason (as mentioned)

    Thank you 🙂

  16. @mrcurry, @Larrow, @opusfmspol sorry for the confusion, you know the hex marker on players the same side of you, well by default they are green yes?

I found a way before as mentioned to make all the players on one squad to be of one colour, you can do this with STHUD, I'm not sure about other mods. But you

will see players with different coloured hex's on there player icon depending on what squad they are in. Hopefully, that makes sense 😄

  17. lol nope, that's not it ...

    Look Here 😄

If you tell me which line to edit then I can play around with it myself live, then once I have it on spot I will send the fixed version back to you.

Also which parts do I mess around with or comment out to stop it working on vehicles? there is a bug with the USS Liberty and the automatic boats that

drop from the side when you release and/or attach back to the main vessel the Ir Strobe option spams the menu and its kind of messed up where nothing then works 😛

  18. @stanhope thank you very much mate, works perfectly and I can see now how its done exactly

Just one question, how would I be able to do this on unit loadout export easily instead of a wall of text as it does lol. Is there some kind of program to do such or?

    {player setUnitLoadout [["arifle_MX_GL_Black_F","","acc_pointer_IR","optic_Hamr",["30Rnd_65x39_caseless_black_mag",30],[],""],[],[],["U_B_CombatUniform_mcam",[["FirstAidKit",2],["SmokeShellBlue",2,1],["HandGrenade",1,1],["Laserbatteries",1,1]]],["V_PlateCarrier2_rgr",[["30Rnd_65x39_caseless_black_mag",4,30],["30Rnd_65x39_caseless_black_mag_Tracer",1,30],["1Rnd_HE_Grenade_shell",3,1],["1Rnd_SmokeBlue_Grenade_shell",3,1],["1Rnd_SmokeOrange_Grenade_shell",2,1],["1Rnd_SmokePurple_Grenade_shell",2,1],["1Rnd_SmokeYellow_Grenade_shell",2,1],["1Rnd_SmokeGreen_Grenade_shell",2,1],["1Rnd_Smoke_Grenade_shell",2,1]]],[],"H_HelmetB","",["Laserdesignator","","","",["Laserbatteries",1],[],""],["ItemMap","ItemGPS",_radioItem,"ItemCompass","ItemWatch","NVGoggles"]]};

by a wall of text I mean by something like this (imgur link) so from that to a line as you have done it, which way is best?

  19. @mrcurry yes I know that mate, but that is for AI groups, its for a MP server when you join a squad Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc and upon you joining you are given a color

automatically representing that group. This can not be done without scripting, I had done it before but I have forgot how and lost the mission files I had which had them on.

  20. Have you put the respawn module down? then this is what I have in my description.ext and it works fine:

    //------------------------- Respawn & Revive

    Respawn = 3;											// Sets respawn type - 0 = none. 1 = bird. 2 = instant where died. 3 = base or respawn_west marker. 4 = respawn with team, or bird. 5 = into AI or bird.
RespawnDelay = 10; // Set respawn delay in seconds..
RespawnDialog = 1; // Show respawn timer and scoreboard when killed.
respawnButton = 1; // Enable or disable the respawn button in the menu for INSTANT and BASE respawn types.
respawnOnStart = 0; // Respawn player when he joins the game. Available only for INSTANT and BASE respawn types.
respawnTemplates[] = {"MenuPosition"}; // Respawn templates from CfgRespawnTemplates. You can combine any number of them together.
reviveDelay = 2; // The time in seconds it takes to revive an incapacitated unit. Having a Medikit will halve this time.
reviveForceRespawnDelay = 1; // The time in seconds it takes for an incapacitated unit to force their respawn.
reviveBleedOutDelay = 180; // The time in seconds it takes for a unit to bleed out.

  21. @stanhope you mean the (initPlayerLocal.sqf) not the init of the playable unit? if it was for MP wouldn't I have to add it to (initServer.sqf) too? just wondering.

I kind of get what you put but I'm confused too, the (PlayerLoadout) is where my script would be located or? the Loadouts I have made will still exist this way or?
Sorry, I'm not a perfect scripter so I may sound stupid lol.
