  1. its that skill level on the individual units. If its up high 100% your in for some tough TOUGH fights and the AI have to basically not know your in the area at all. if its in the middle then your into a good fire fight , if its to low then they just run around like headless chickens.

  2. To the post above me, what an irritating procedure to have to go through just to play one game on a crap Operating system, its easier to just re-install xp. Secondly there doesn tneed to be any claims that Vista is flawed, its not the fact that its flawed, its the fact that it kills performance and it doesnt give you enough performance for the quality, it gives you (WHICH IS VERY MINIMAL).

Screw Claims, the reality is alot worse than any claim could be. I couldnt even run my brand new sound card when i installed that DREADFUL Vista Operating System. Vista was just a big waste of my time. AND...........................

To this day i still never saw the MASSIVE difference between DX10 and DX9 we were all ripped off. Xp if your a gamer unless windows 7 has the same kind of performance that xp has, period. And even more so if your running 3 year old hardware like the 8800 series and intel core 2's and 2 gb ram systems etc. I wouldnt even bother trying games like this on Vista unless you have QUADRUPLE the recommended hardware, lol. Which is very silly that you need that type of hardware to run it well on Vista. Xp you just need recommended and game will run ok on medium to high settings. In the next year or 2 like always they'll bring out the big gun hardware to run the game on high and bla bla bla bla bla bla. Same old, same old way of doing it. Even back in the day when Ghost Recon came out and EVERYONE could only just run that game on the latest GForce 4 , WOAH, GFORCE 4 and like 2.8 Pentiums and 512 mb ram!!!!!! That was a hardcore system and expensive in that era.

Do you know what i reckon would be more helpful for us? , is if developers didnt put recommended hardware on thier games and instead put what system specs they ACTUALLY USED to make the game. That would clear alot of stuff up.

  3. Yep its the graphic card. That card you have, has alot of problems on heaps of high end games. You should of got the 8800 GTS or higher when you bought it , i know more expensive but the performance is a hell of a lot better than the 8600 series. That 8600 card you have actually performed worse than the ATi 1900xt's of 3 and a 1/2, 4 years ago. And the 1900 ati series was older almost a year older than the 8600, yet performed better. Heaps of people made the mistake in getting the 8600. But it comes down to finances. But arma 2 i would get today's latest graphic card technology, just think what kind of systems the actual GAME was made on. I have a 8800GTS 512mb came out in 2006 with the 8600 line up, and it runs Arma 2 on normal at about 35 fps average and a intel core 2 duo, and 2 gb ram. Runs fine on normal. Im going to upgrade with the next generation of Graphic cards after the 295 Gtx's. Because right now its just not really worth it for me because Arma 2 is the ONLY game that i have (Crysis runs a hell of alot better on max settings than Arma 2 does on my system on medium settings, personally i think Crysis has WAY better textures than Arma 2, just doesnt look as realistic). but anyway Arma 2 is the only game that has to be toned down in graphics on my system for it to run properly so its just not worth me upgrading system at the moment just to play 1 game. Next year should bring some cards that should run Arma 2 on max settings easy. But if you want to play Arma 2 badly then its time to give your 8600 nividia card to your mother so she can play Backgammon on the internet while you play Arma 2 on a Brand new Gcard.:):):):)

  4. Answer get rid of Vista. Especially if your runnni a 3 year old graphics card like i am. Im still using a 8800GTS 512mb graphic card and i uninstalled vista a year ago gone back to XP and all games run ALOT better. Uninstall Vista , will solve your problem. and DONT go and get windows 7, the OS isnt even released properly yet and people are using it??? its insane, and they are complaining about crashing.. go use Xp if your a gamer using 2006-2007 hardware. UNLESS you have 6gb ram, the latest graphic cards(Nividia 295gtx etc) and latest processor and latest motherboard then fine go use Vista the game will work well, but if you dont and your running late 2006 hardware go back to xp.

  5. i havent noticed that at all, if you lie down in the grass Ai wont often shoot you unless they already know where you are. If they know where you are already and you ahve already alerted them then its actually quite realistic for them to shoot AT YOU!!!! and in real life its actually pretty easy to see people sitting or lying on grass unless they are REALLY COVERED in grass. I think its realistic that once the enemy knows where you are, that they just start shooting at you. I know i would if i saw an opponent drop to the grass or saw them moving a bit. Its more realistic than you think, go test it in real life go lie in some grass and have a friend try and find you. I use to play tag in the forests and it was easy as to find people in grass it was HARD when they wer behind trees or UP them or in dense bushes. Youll also notice that if your behind bushes and the ai cant see you, they will stop shooting you. The reality is if you alert them YOUR SCREWED. IF they know where they are YOUR SCREWED. IF your quiet you can actually almost creep right up to them.

  6. sorry im MASSIVELY against this, the game is pretty buggy at the moment and have a subscription aswell. Whats wrong with users just creating servers on the fly for free? Most people complaining have only mid range systems that just cant handle the game yet. Next year's graphic cards and processor option should run this game alot better. People that already have awesome specs dont seem to be getting into to many problems.

  7. there is no way im signing this partition.. Can we focus on actual things that matter like Game performance, and bugs in missions and graphical glitches and and ships that dont float in the editor instead of even more realism. This game is as realistic as you get without having to worry about even MORE realism. There are SO many more important things to think about. There needs to be some cool looking stuff. Besides i cant even see the things your talking about, my 8800 series system is out dated im more worried about trying to play the game without stuttering more than im worried about MORE realism.

  8. yeah dont confuse mouse lagg with computer not being able to handle everyting on screen. Unfortunately i have a mid range system 512mb graphics card and have to upgrade system. Because people with nividia 295x2 cards and latest processors dont seem to be having these problems. Its a hard out game and needs newe hardware to run it remember the 8800series was late 2006 we are in 2009 now. Turn all graphics on low EVERYTHING and just put yourself in the editor by yourself , for test and youll see a MASSIVE increase in mouse movement performance.

  9. yeah you have to also understand that alot of people's mid range computers that can play battlefield 2 and counter strike cant run this game very well. So you'll will only be playing with people that can actually run the game with 12 battalians of 10 guys each etc etc on a massive scale. Single player for me really tests my hardware and i won tbe joining a massive online battle until i can upgrade my computer which wont be till next year. I LOVE the idea of having huge scale war with 700 people online but at the moment theres hardware problems for mid range users only the top of the top of the line comps can really enjoy that kind of sale at present. My computer isnt stable after about 300 units on the map. 8800GTS 512mb 3gb ram, inter core 2 duo E6700 2.66 Ghz. So ill be just joining up to 100 people online till hardware upgrade which is EXPENSIVE as.

  10. in real life if you look over a field with grass on it and trees it only takes a glint of something shiny or a small movement of something and you know EXACTLY where your opponent is. Did you not play war games with your friends in forests as a kid? because you can often see your enemy quite easy over a bit of shrub UNLESS that shrub was massively covering your body. I remember playing tag in deep thinkets of hedges and if somebody lied down in the grass you could see them from a mile away. They had to be completely covered or behind a big bush to not be seen. I think this is quite realistic as far as vision goes. Unless your enemy is amongst MASSIVE vegetation its really easy to see people lying down in grass. Unless the grass is overly long.

  11. lol thats a good way of going about it. Borrow or rent operation flashpoint dragon rising and buy Arma 2. So far the last 2-3 years of codemasters games havent even been worth a purchase from me since toca race driver 3. Grid was yawn, Dirt was awful (colin mcrae rallying ? where ? ), fuel was arcadey and useless. There is one game i may be interested in from codemasters coming out in 2010 is the next Formula 1 game. It very well may be my poistive turning point back to codies. If they stray away from the dirt and grid formats and go for simulation, F1 might be the next big Codemasters thing + what irritated me about codemasters that started making me stop playing thier games also,is they never really did anything for the colin mcrae series at all, they created DIRT?????? so that gives you a good indication of thier look at its franchises that they own, so for their future products you kind of know where they are heading, they generally just like to cater to action and porn fans :):):):).

On the other hand, Bohemia has built on a fantastic formula that is excruciatingly challenging and requires a massive learning curve that will bring you HUGE rewards if mastered and has also designed a better game because of it than any other war game to date with its massive amount of user friendly capabilities. Arma 2 you wont go wrong as far as longetivity, its endless, already this game in the first mission is awesome, HOWEVER its BUGGY as hell for mid range pc machines, And i should point out that its mainly mid range pc users that are generally complaining about the performance of the game, guys on you tube fighting with 700 or 1500 guys with 2 vid cards and 8 gb ram and quad core 4 processors on a field with no lagg arent complaining are they. Hopefully it will get less buggy as time goes on with patches and stuff, somehow, to support mid range pc's a bit better.

Or maybe we all just have to wait for next year's graphic card options, Or i have to buy a nividia 295 GTX2, i think ill wait for the next gen of Graphics card in a year or so i think :( (My pholosophy is if the game is running like shit dont buy the cards out now buy the ones the next year ,lol.

By the time codemasters brings out its ( all action , porn star, loads of limb bashing, blooded up arcade filled ) game, hopefully alot of the bugs in Arma 2 will be gone. Arma 2 is a buy for me, operation flashpoint dragon rises is a rent for me.

But then again OPF2 Dragon rising, could be AWESOME in the fun department, look at left 4 dead , 4 guys, lots of co-op, no realism, fun as hell and a must buy. OFP2DR might be a battlefield 2 , Crysis, Left 4 dead, cross breed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. i didnt find the loading of textures to be a big deal. Same thing happened with Crysis. They using the Crytec engine? because all the same graphical errors are very similar. But then again im using a 8800GTS 512mb vidcard, that runs game at 35 fps, not worth upgrade yet till next generation of graphic cards, this is the only game that really tests my computer. No other game really needs a hardware update. Ill probably get the latest vidcard after the 295GTX. Cant wait. :):):) (in a year or so:(:(:,). I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!

  13. Bizarre thing happened to me , i had alot of crashes putting my system specs on low - medium. I put my system specs to high and i dont get crashes any more. Im starting to wonder if it is a problem with a mixture of hardware optimization and graphical settings. I shouldnt be getting less hangs and crashes by putting graphics up. However it seems to be the case. I think its something to do with a graphical setting thats buggy within the game. One thing i had to do was turn off Post Processing. It was making my screen way to blurry. I turned everything else on high , now i dont get as many crashes but it destroys performance a bit which is a shame because id much rather have my setting low - medium to have better performance than have to worry about crashes, yet when i put graphics on low - medium to get the better performance i get way more system crashes. VERY STRANGE ENGINE.

There are also some bugs in the editor that causes my system to crash. Mainly to do with setting up certain types of way points in the map editor, and if the game doesnt want to follow the waypoint path properly it seems to Crash to desktop. Like if you tell a vehicle to pick you up a long a road yet the vehicle might do snaky zig zag driving and crash into something , the system seems to crash. Also if I tell many units to do something at once there seems to be crashes aswell. If i spawn guys ain very open selected areas alightly away from biuldings so they dont get caught up in them the crashes isnt as bad, but still crashes sometimes regardless.

Alot of this stuff should of just of been ironed out, i love the lighting graphics etc, but i would of prefered it to be a little less graphically and have WAY more perfomance and less issues. Im running 8800 GTS 512mb, 3 gb ram and windows xp and intel core 2 Duo E6700 2.66 Ghz it Runs fine a consistant 30- 50 FPS all the way through. I seem to be getting less crashes than most of you. I can play it on high graphics for a few hours at a time. But if i put graphics on low-medium, it crashes . Very strange engine the operation flashpoint engine. The same kind of issues happen in Operation flashpoint and ArMA to this day and my system is way beyond specs for OP and Arma.

So try turning off post processing, put graphics on high, not medium. Its what i did and it stops the crashing for me a bit , however the performance decrease is irritating.

  14. I m absolutely flabergasted how you want this to be THE military Simulator of todays gaming , yet you dont want real military people to do the voice acting? Personally i think OPeration Flashpoint 2 hopefully will realise that you cant in todays gaming have such atrocious approaches to piss taking. Because thats what it sounds like when your playing the game, some guys reading the script and taking the piss out the game. If you want people to take your game seriously then you should get some seriousness into your game. Starting with that AWFUL voice cue little kid acting. I just dont understand some of the design choices. Its great to still have a game that does what it can for realism but then destroy the realism with fake voice acting? doesnt make sense.

  15. i have way less hardware than most of you and i can play it on high without anti-aliasing on and it runs reasonably smooth. Im running xp, intel core 2 Duo 2.66 GHZ (it was the very first intel core 2 duo on the market), Asus Motherboard(3 years old) , 8800GTS 512mb,2Gb ram. If you can run Crysis you should be able to run this. You may just have to run it on Medium graphics. Another thing, its probably your crossfire video cards. Try using single card not crossfire and see if that helps. Another thing dont bother trying to run the game with less specs than what i have, mine is pretty much the minimum for a good experience. But the Arma 2 Demo seems to be running well so far.
