  1. Hi.

So I'm working on a basic AI recruitment script, and I'd like to be able to create a unit with a silenced weapon.

I've used an add action to call the following: "B_Soldier_F" createUnit [getMarkerPos "recruit", group player]

That bit works fine, but I don't know how to include the 'addPrimaryWeaponItem' to add the silencer to the rifle. I'm pretty sure the entire syntax needs to change, but honestly..I'm clueless. :)

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm kinda hoping I've completely missed a silenced soldier class somewhere. Whilst that would be embarrassing, it would be convenient. ;)

  2. I finally got round to trying these out. Its gonna take a little time for me to adjust to them, but the improvement in my heli handling was instantly noticeable!

I used to land like a drunken bee in a wind tunnel, but I now have so much more control. Also nice to fly the medium, was the least favourite of mine till now, but I can actually fly it at last!

Thanks for these! Makes flying even more enjoyable.

  3. Hi!

There was mention in this thread that an updated samples package would be released, including a Hind from the DLC.

I was wondering if there's any word on how this is going? I've recently been dabbling with the liveries, and have been quite successful at getting things working. So naturally I'm suddenly very eager about this. :)

I managed a light and Medium paint job with little trouble -configs aside- but I must confess I'm having trouble with the Heavy. Its like trying to paint an AirFix model, before you've put the pieces together! ;) If a new package is still in the works, is there any chance of an easier to follow layout for the Heavy please? :) Make it a bit more newb friendly.

Would be grateful for any news on this.

If anyone has any advice on texturing the heavies, I'd love to hear!

  4. There was a way to skip levels in ArmA, so I'm presuming it works for ToH. Not at home at the moment so can't test for sure. Will do later.

If you hold down left shift and press numpad - (minus) then type endmission, you should be able to skip the level. It'll claim you failed but you should be able to advance. Nothing will appear on screen when you type the code, so don't worry about that.

Hopefully that helps but I'm not 100% sure at the moment. As to a solution rather then a workaround, I have no idea I'm afraid.

  5. Maybe you could use the external benches on the light helicopter for moving casualties? I'm thinking of the TV series M.A.S.H. Use the two benches as stretchers, so to speak. The Paramedic could still be seated in the co-pilots seat?

You could move two seriously injured, which, when listening to the ATC, seems to happen a lot. ;)

Have been playing this a lot, and its nice to see that my landings are improving because of it. Keep up the good work! :)

EDIT: This is the sort of thing I mean:

  6. You can find these in the zip file in the folder 'Addon (install pbo file as mod)'.

For anyone whos not sure, what you need to do is:

Make a new folder in your main ToH directory. I called it @Moach. Inside this folder you need to make another folder and call it addons. Inside the addons folder you need to place the moach_hw_basics.pbo. from the folder mentioned above.

When you next run ToH, click the expansions tab in the main menu and enable the @Moach mod (Or whatever you named it.) restart the game and you should be good to go.

Thanks again Moach, this is a great mission! :)

  7. I think its normal for unarmed units to not be able to lean, but I'm not sure.

If you want to lean whilst in the helicopter, you'll want to hold down left CTRL and use the Q and E keys. Hold left CTRL and numpad 5 to center your view again.

Holding left CTRL and pressing NUMPAD 2, 4, 6, 8 will allow you to sit back, slide left, right and sit forward. Not the best explanation but try it, you'll see what I mean. :) I think its these controls that your after.

  8. Thanks for your continued work on this guys! I've been having great fun. :)

The mechanical failures were a surprise to me! I managed to land for 2 of them, although one time I lost my rotors to a nearby tree. I had some music playing at the time so I didn't hear the tell tale signs until it was too late.

also had a tail rotor incident, where 2 of my passengers went around the back of the helicopter and promptly got hacked up. Was nice to see that the mission could still be completed. :)

Really impressed with this, look forward to seeing what else you include.

  9. Ah right! I'm with you now.

I can only think of a couple of things at the moment:

The files might be hidden. Here's a short guide how to have them show if they are. Its for Win7 but a quick google will find similar guides for other operating systems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/Show-hidden-files

The only other thing I can suggest is to do a file search for the actual mission name if you haven't already. It might have saved somewhere else for some reason. (I read in the ArmA2 forum that admin rights, or lack of, can change where things are saved.)

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'll keep pondering on it.

  10. Hi JoaoHackbart. I can't give you a link to the mission you asked for I'm afraid, but any missions that have been downloaded from a server can be found in the MPMissionsCache folder. Anytime you join a server but don't have the mission, its downloaded to here.

I forget where its located, but you can do a file search to find it.

Not exactly what you were after, but hope it helps.

And thanks to sxp2high for keeping his server running! :)

  11. I Found out that spawning two types of the same helo would cause the first to de-spawn. :( Sorry about that.

Performed a quick fix and that won't happen any more. Actually managed to test it this time.

EDIT: Just realised that I hadn't applied the fix to all classes. Now fixed.

Also added time of day and weather parameters.

EDIT: I've added a few lights around the start area. It was impossible to find the flags on a dark 'n stormy night. :j:

Another EDIT: Changed the default time and weather to noon and clear.

    New version available here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sk3zk91s7xye2cf/MP%20Freeflight.zip

  12. Hi. You can look around with the hat switch, but you might have to set the key binds first.

When you select options/controls from the main menu, change the controls been shown to 'all' You'll see the look up/down etc options about midway down the list. By default there bound to the NumPad keys.

I don't have Track IR but there's also options for that just beneath the ones I mentioned above.

At the bottom of the controls page there's a tab called controller. Open that up and you should see track IR listed there. Make sure its enabled.

Sorry if you've done this already, but its all I can think of.

  13. It should be, yes. I forgot to mention that you need to open the folder, and inside you'll find another folder with the same name. Thats the one you want to be using.

So, open the `Heli4Hire-master` folder, and inside you'll find another `Heli4Hire-master` folder, place that in the location I mentioned before. Rename the folder to Heli4Hire-master.United_States_H

Hopefully it should now show up. *Fingers crossed*

  14. Thanks for the preview release Moach. :)

Just a couple of things. I needed to add .United_states_H to the folder name to get it to show up. After that the mission wouldn't load in the editor, as I was missing the Jedra_missions addon. After activating both Jedras' time trials and Take on Taxis the mission loaded up fine. :)

Just FYI for anyone wanting to play.

Anyhoo, I'm about to load this up and have a go for the afternoon. :)

    EDIT:

@JoaoHackbart. You need to place the folder in the following location:

    Documents\Take On Helicopters Other Profiles\yourprofilenamehere\UserSaved\missions.

It should then show up in the editor.
