There is no telling what will make the game work. Just try everything,

I had the same problem....and all my textures disappeared. I'm about sick of Arma at this point.

[How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??]

They released it too early. It was pretty obviously not ready for the world. I get about 10 minutes in before my whole rig crashes.

Ugh.

[Trying to patch to different drive]

I have Arma2 saved to my F drive, but the patch wants to automatically patch my C drive.

Any thoughts?
