  1. I bought arma 2 from steam and im having a stutter problem at the main menu and in the game. Some times its so bad i cant even start the game up. Im getting 30-60 FPS for 2 min than it drops lower than 10 and just locks up and keeps doing it. Not playable for me right now. I have the latest patch. I also have 4gb ram but i guess this only says 2gb bc i have win vista 32bit. i would really like for people to give advice

Welcome to arma where your system spec don't mean anything ! :bounce3:

  2. I'm not saying not to use Fraps, just that you can't tell someone that you can't tell a game is smooth without using fraps. If you use fraps and it says 20fps but you aren't getting a semi-slideshow then fraps is obviously wrong, but if you can't tell if your game is smooth or not without fraps then you probably need to play more games.

What you're doing is guess-timating. Least with FRAPS you get some DATA back. Plus i believe the human eye can't see the difference after 25 FRPS anyway.

  3. You don't really need to test for fps, especially when fraps has been known to give false values. Best to use the old eyes to check how smooth it's running, although you can use a script built into arma to test fps, but cant remember what it is

Was this suppose to be a serious statement ?

  4. Playing Arma II for a month now, but performance isn't everything. this are my specs now

    Proc: C2Duo E6850 @ 3.6ghz

    Ram: 4GB DDR2 800mhz

    GFX: Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX

    HDD: Samsung RAID 0 7200rpm

I'm playing on 1920x1200 resolution, wich is high. I don't have enough money for a complete system upgrade, and don't know if it's needed to get good performance. I'm thinking of upgrading my gfx to a ATI 4890, it costs 170 Euro.

Will I get a nice performance boost with the gfx card upgrade? and won't my CPU be a bottleneck? considering the high resolution in think a gfx card is a big factor in the performance on my system.

Honestly the new card won't help until they fix the software. I see a lot of people with higher end i7's rigs w/ the 4800's and gtx's still having performace issues.

  5. Hi pearson.william

It is my undertanding that Steam automaticly patches customers. I would suggest you re ask you question in the Steam thread.

Also when you start up ArmA II and reach the main menu, what version number do you see under your ArmA II User name in the bottom right corner?

    Kind Regards walker

i used the download manager and downloaded from the arama2 site. Would this be considered the steam version ?

  6. BIS knew this game was not ready and released it as a way to earn income before OFP2 kills it. They know in this day of digital purchasing and fanboys they can keep there sales strong enough to keep the company alive. As we all know if you digitally purchase it takes an act of god to get your money back.

I for one have seen this tactic used in various companies over and over again. Enjoy Arma 2 because i doubt the company will stay above water enough to produce another one. They have not even released a retail box version in the US. They keep pushing it back. Wonder why.........

I honestly cant see how the bug plagued game and more importantly performance plagued game can go unnoticed to some of you who praise this waste of 50 USD. I have replaced most of the guts in my machine (which exceeded rec sys req) to some good stuff. I bought a high end board and dual core cpu and even some 1600 ram. In the campaign im still luggin 22 to 25 FPS. I even tried a quad core and various other combinations. Through testing I actually tried 4 different hardware combinations and the performance was all over the place. The bugs were always there to remind me where my money went.

With all of that said how is it some of you dont experience any issues? Where is the truth in this poll? I looked at the poll and was shocked to see 39 of you selected the "Extremely , Awesome game! no problems what so every". You gotta be shittin' me, seriously. Some people cannot even admit to the game needing patches?

Its moves like this that keep the torrent/game pirating software alive.

  7. Coming from being a BF2 junkie at heart the game does take some getting use to. For the fact that BF:BC is not going to be out for a while i wanted to give this game a chance. The looks on the game are great but it is IMPOSSIBLE to look past all these bugs. I have since read many reviews and the word that kept popping up was "broken." I think the reviewers hit the nail right on the head with that one.

Do i hate the game ? No but IMO this game was NO WHERE NEAR ready for release.

    p.s

I know my system isn't a top of the line rig but there is no was i should have to put everything down to normal (and off) and still only get a FR of 24.

  8. I noticed that after a bit of playing i started getting a headache so i stopped. When i came back i opened FRAPS and i noticed that i was getting like 10-12 FPS lol . I took everything down to normal ; AA off AF off PP off and now i am at like 24-26 FRPS, is this decent ?

Rig is listed in sig. Currently using latest nvidia drives 186.18 (from nvidia release notes on the 190 beta doesnt mention any additional support for ARMA2).

    Thanks guys.

  9. Is there a txt file or something that lists all default arma commands (so i can print)? I am just finding it to be a pain trying to go through ans rebind commands one by one.

    I googled without any luck.
