1. Make sure you have @ACRE installed
2. Make sure you have @JayArma2LIb installed
3. Make sure dsound.dll is in the ROOT arma 2 directory or in the EXPANSION/BETA directory (if you're running a beta EXE)
4. Make sure TS3 is up to date (beta 26)
5. Make sure you're running via MODLINE and not OA in-game mod management (This breaks JayArma2LIb)
6. Clear out any arma 2 crap from your virtualstore, game could be reading old content from that location.
7. Confirm that your Plugin dlls are in the correct directory and that you have not accidentally installed TS3 to your user/appdata location by not running installer as admin.
did all that as well, no luck. any chance to get direct help from you guys?
I have and have done everything mentioned above. Have the latest TS3 version and followed the instructions for manual install. When I start TS3 I get the "ACRE was not loaded by Teamspeak" message and ingame, when I press SHIFT+CTRL+V/C I only get a menu, on the right it says "RADIO" and "ACTIVATE" but the content in the middle is empty. I did check my gear and I do have a shortrange radio in it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
P.S.
Been using a2t for a long time so I'm pretty experienced when it comes to mods installing.

Has it been improved?
In current Arma2 1.7 t72 can kill Abrams with 2 frontal shots and you can do the same with couple of RPG7 hits.
Is this still the same in OA or have they made the damage modelling a bit more realistic?
Thanks in advance.
-
It doesn't have to be in many pieces, rather something that would make sense ie. if you hit tank in a turret, a nice hole or a dent, if you hit side of a tank, damaged tracks etc.
You only get to see a damage when the tank is pretty much destroyed or it's about to be.
Bad Company 2 hit it spot on.

I was wondering, if there will be any improvements in tank damage modelling?
Right now, it's pretty simple, it relies mostly on texture changes. Any hints on improving this aspect of the game?
Thanks in advance

make the stuff you want transparant in PS.. then save your image as *.pngnow open up BI TextView2 and save it as *.paa
if you dont have Textview2 then install it. dont messaround with that plugin.
use the proper tools designed for the job.
Thanks! That did it for me!

Hello there!
I followed these instructions and made my ingame logo work just fine:
http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/squad.xml
However, the background is not transparent, whatever I do it stays the same.
I installed the PAA plugin for my Photoshop CS2 and made a conversion from TGA to PAA.
Can someone help me and tell me what do I need to do in order to make the amblem background transparent?
Thanks in advance,
Kenan

Nice thread man, sure is nice to see some positivity about this game. I think it deserves much more positive attention.+1
Arma2 rocks and so will the OA!

Nah, both the old and the new one have 512mb with an exception of 4770 having a GDDR5 instead of GDDR3 of the previous 4670.
-
EJ, pozdrav i tebi!
Well, I just got the card (my previous 4670 had its memory fried) so I wouldn't mess with overclocking it just yet..
I will take that advice of yours and see what happens!

Hello folks!
I have a serious problem with ingame framerates since I upgraded from Ati 4670 to XFX Ati 4770 gfx card.
Now I have even lower framerates then I used to have with 4670 (somewhere around 25-28 FPS), 3D resoulution 1024x768, all set to NORMAL, except Aniso and AA are set to high, Postprocessing disabled.
What is more interesting, there seems to be no difference if I have my AA set to HIGH or completely disabled, framerate doesn't change!
I seem to be having simillar problem with other games..then I thought it may be my PSU (420w) as 4770 recommends 500w.
I unpluged all my USB peripherals and the only DVD drive I have and nothing changed.
My config is:
AMD Athlon II Box 250 (Dual core 2x3.01 ghz)
4gb of RAM
XFX Ati 4770 512mb GDDR5
PSU 420w
Could it be my PSU? I also checked while minimizing my game if the card has underclocked but the gpu and memory frequencies are what they should be.
I'm pretty much lost here..Uninstalled the drivers, used Driversweep then installed all over again, fresh set..but problem still remains.
Any help is apreaciated!

The only (and main) problem I have with TrackIR and Arma is when turning my rifle to the direction I'm looking at. It takes few seconds for me to actually align those two and this could get me killed in tense situations. How do you guys do it? It would be ideal if one could "freeze" the direction of the head and just let the body align itself with it by moving the mouse.
Bump! Anyone?

Wouldn't it be nice if players could actually be able to shoot thru the windows and not just the gunner? This of course, doesn't apply to the driver.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, just check HBO's Generation Kill.

Actually, the RL Chernogorsk is based on Arma2 Chernogorsk.

I don't know if this has been posted before but I felt the need to share this with you.
I recently downloaded the latest version of the DCO:
because my Bioshock apparently has known issues utilizing both cores.
Few hours later, I fire up my Arma2 and realize my framerate droppes constantly 5-6 FPS on average.
I was like wtf, I triple checked my CCC settings, whatever I did, instead of usual 30-33 FPS I was getting 25 or so. I even defragmented my partition..did everything possible, even reinstalled the drivers. Guess what? The problem was still there.
So, I decided to uninstall the above mentioned DCO utility using Revo uninstaller. Still, framerates were crap...
THEN, I remmembered in one of the threads I read something about boot.ini modified by the software and compared my generic boot.ini (backup file) with the current one.
The current one had an additional entry at the end:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /usepmtimer
As soon as I removed the /usepmtimer, my Arma2 performance was back in the game!
I have Athlon II X2 250 Dual Core @3.1 ghz.
That's it, hope this info proves helpful to you!

it shouldn't really, higher textures cause more loading from the Harddisk and memory usage, they don't really take away FPS in the way that Anti Aliasing or some thing wouldOk. how about anisotropic filtering?
-
Is it me or switching from texture detail NORMAL to VERY HIGH has no impact on framerates?
I have a Athlon II x2 250 @ 3.1 ghz (dual core) and Ati 4670 512mb and I compared FPS with fraps and it seems there's no difference whatsoever?!

Sorry but there is already a thread about system specs.Actually its a sticky :/
I'm aware of that thread, but I thought it's more of a comparison thing. I think it should be pretty obvious that my current rig compares to nothing and as such, wouldn't add any value posting it there.
I know you can't tell for sure how it's gonna look on this or that system but since most of you are experienced armacholics, I thought I should ask.

...Thanks for the info.

Right now folks, I have:
Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2093mhz (Single Core)
Asus A7N8X-X Motherboard
1.5 gb of DDR400 ram
Asus AH3650 512 MB
The mobo and cpu, as you noticed, are pretty ancient. Still, I can play Arma2 online and COOP missions with everything set to low (1024x768 3D res, 1000m view distance, no AA) and pretty much no problems except there are tons of AI units. Chernogorsk also gives me lower framerates then Utes (but I guess that's no surprise as I read other people comments on this issue). My framerate is between 11-16 fps. Yeah, I know, still playable though.
Now, I can't afford too much money to spend but I definetelly need an upgrade, this is what I'm aiming for. I would just like to know how would Arma2 run on this configuration (not adding/changing anything else):
MBO NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a, DDR2, VGA, S-ATA, RAID, PCI-E, with. AM2 / AM3, mATX
CPU AMD Athlon64 X2 250 BOX, with. AM3, 3.0GHz, 2MB c.
RAM PC-6400, 2 GB, DDR2 800 MHz
VGA PCI-E ATI RADEON HD 4670, 512MB DDR3, VGA, DVI, HDMI, HDTV
HDD 750.0 GB SATA, 32MB cache, 7200 okr./min,
DVD±RW 20x, black, SATA, Dual layer, bulk
Box LC POWER 2716B + 420H, MIDI, black, 420W ATX
Thanks in advance!

I downloaded some missions and would like to know where/what file contains graphics settings? I noticed some missions allow users to play online with their own video setup and some 'force' terrain detail to a specific setting.
Thanks in advance!

Speaking of rifles and realism, have you guys noticed how gun sway while standing and aiming is almost 'fixed' with very little movement when IRL it should sway a lot more (regardless of your breathing technique). I'm also a sports shooter and I base this observation from my own experience and I believe everyone here who has ever held a rifle in his/her life would agree in Arma2 the aiming thru iron sights is too static.

One question:
I just realized some folders need to be copied onto the server as well.
Is this the reason why my ingame menu was blank ie. I couldn't choose/manipulate any radio, even if I had it on me?
