    New recoil, please make it go away

    It was brought in with the new 1.54 patch and BAF DLC. Basically the weapon sight doesn't auto-centre after a few shots and you have to re-centre it yourself. I've noticed little difference as I always have my weapon on semi and double-tap shots unless I'm around buildings and I have it on burst or auto in case someone is around the corner.
  2. It depends on terrain as well. AI squads will sometimes try and bound across roads causing half to lie down for 'cover fire' while the other half run across even if there is no enemy in site.
  3. I'll try this later tonight as I've had the same problem with the UAV. No matter what parametres you put in it would crash when you set the first set of waypoints.
  4. I'm trying to make a COOP version of a ULB mission and I can't seem to make two separate teams. I can make one chopper/ULB team work easy enough but when I make another team the new one won't have the ULB option in the pilot menu. Does anyone know a way I can make multiple teams chopper/ULB teams?

  6. Yes I have, that was what I was doing first. When I add another module and link it to a new ULB and AH-64D the ULB doesn't show up in the pilots menu. However when I limk them through the original module it does but it seems only the host can properly control the ULB while the other just gets the external camera view of it. It just might not be possible judging from this thread: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=101264&highlight=ulb&page=3 But I wanted to try it as it is a cool mission style and having a whole team co-ordinate with multiple ULBs would be awesome.
  7. The book: "In the Company of Soldiers" by Rick Atkinson details an amazing account of Apaches used in the Iraq invasion in 2003. A whole flight of over 30 Apaches were flying at night toward a town when all of the sudden all the towns lights went off. As they flew over the lights went back on and whole streets were lined by hundreds of men with AK's firing straight up into the air. The flight was had to return to base and the choppers were turned into Swiss Cheese with each one having and average of 27 odd bullet holes in it. There were a few minor injuries but it really shook them up, they had previously overflown towns at night thinking nothing could touch them. General Petraeus (who was the commander of the 101st at the time and was planning a similiar attack with his own Apaches) took great pains to talk to all the pilots involved and analysed the ambush and made sure his own pilots adjusted their operating procedures in order not to have them fall into the same trap. Whoever the guy was who organized the ambush was a tactical genius who changed the whole theater of combat for attack choppers simply with AK bullets.

    Optical mice suck for games, Korean Pro Starcraft players still use ball mice. Get in a tank and move the turret with an optical mouse, it takes lots of little shifts to get it around a whole 360 revolution. With an old ball mouse you can flick it and let it spin then stop it right where you want it.
  9. That's what I've been using. I can make both helicopters use the ULB but I still can't make two seperate choppers with a ULB each. In multiplayer the first person to use the ULB can control it and when the other player chooses it they just get an external camera view of the same one even though there is another ULB linked to the module they both are linked to. I've named both choppers separately and put the: BIS_heli_uav_0 setvariable ["unitList",[hco_west_1,hco_west_2]]; BIS_heli_uav_0 setvariable ["UAVList",[uLB_1,ULB_2]]; in the module init but I can't get them to operate different ULBs. When the client player chooses the ULB first they get the external view and parachutes spawning randomly from the ULB. WTF lol.

  13. I've tried both these scripts, including the fixed versions and they still don't give me my grenades that I start with. I respawn with full ammo again but the grenades don't replinish.     Why is this game not more popular?

    High system settings. Look at World of Warcraft and you see a perfect model for allowing as many different computer set-ups from old to new that can play the game well without needing to know how to optimise your own system.

  16. I just downloaded the browser version with Free Download Manager and it was a self contained .exe file and worked fine.

    I found the problem and can do it now:yay: When I was creating a .txt file and naming it description.ext, the file was still classed as a .txt file by windows. Depending on your version of windows (XP for me): go to Control panel > Folder Options and go to the View tab and uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types". Now when you make a .txt file and rename it description.ext it will warn you that you are changing the file type, so press yes and it will creat a proper .ext file, then you can open it and put the commands in using notepad. The spawn worked first time after I did that, so I was doing it right, but the big MS was thwarting me the whole time:banghead:

    I've tried everything in this thread but can't get it to work. Would the new patch and the DLC have anything to do with it?
  19. You can, but it has a serial code like a CD key that you must use to activate your download when you first install it so it is unique to your account.

    I just used browser download with the Free Download Manager program, got it at 650kbs in just under 10 minutes.
  21. Both my brother and I have the DVD OA and got the DLC from Sprocket after putting on the patch first and we both have had no problems after playing 3 hours straight. I run an older XP system and he has a brand new Win 7 rig so we are very happy with how things went after a bit of trepidation after reading some of the problems others have been having.

    FIXED IT!!!!! It was my USB headset! Took it out and it plays fine. I found the answer on the Steam forums. ---------- Post added at 09:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:46 AM ---------- Here is the Steam thread explaining the problem: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1363943 They said it was fixed in the Beta patch but it wasn't as I tried the Beta patch and it still did it. I don't know why I couldn't find the answer on this forum especially since the developers knew about the problem and it was a simple solution.

    I re-installed Arma 2 and played it fine then I installed the expansion and it crashes again with the same error. Does anyone know why it does this?

    I have the exact same problem as TC. The game runs fine until the menu then it crashes everytime. I've searched the forums and tried the beta patch and everything else but nothing seems to work. Arma 2 works perfectly but AO doesn't. I totally uninstalled both and only installed this and it still did the same thing.
