    Poll: Will you buy Arma III?

    I think a lot of people will feel regret when the game comes out, don't let your hatred over something as simple as Steam to destroy your experience. I've lost my account 3 times on steam, I am willing to buy ArmA 3 either way. Because you can buy this game through retail, you'll always have proof of purchase. Good luck guys, don't get pesimistic about this. If anything, it will grow our Community and ArmA 3 will be a major breakthrough.

    I am one of the guys on here that get mental over the community requests, but most people probably realized it wasn't all going to happen. So it's nice that after this entire year we spammed them over every little detail, but I don't think anyone on the forums has really wanted to tell them Thanks, for their efforts to improve ArmA 3. And because it has been such a long long year of waiting, it's going to be worth it. Virtually anyone on here is dying to find the Alpha and a lot of people are watching their website like buzzards. I really think there needs to be a place to 'motivate' Bohemia Interactive instead of requesting tons and tons of content. So if I'd be the first to make a thread for positive feedback to let Bohemia Interactive know not every single little thing is bothersome then that would be respectful. I'd like to first start by saying I was originally a ArmA: Combat Operations player, one of the first few servers I was on was Sahrani Life which was made by Celery if I can remember correctly. Innovative as usual, but it took years to finally appreciate the game as much as others did.. that is the regular game itself. And I started in 2007 so I realize there are even earlier players from this community, so anyways... moving on to ArmA 2, a lot of good experiences there. I've played with around five-some units that all were realism teams. Pretty much everything from that point has been content design and things like that, but I was thinking about ArmA 3 being another world of creativity because they plan on getting this engine improved beyond previously intended. I make 3d Models, I do texture art and I took C++ and UScript over the last year or two. I never touched ArmA 2 because I don't know CBA much. I really hope people have some good feedback, and have something to say before the game comes out. This could really be a good place to get a solid community together before ArmA 3 comes to stores.

    AI Improvement

    Whether or not the game gets into details like Entry tactics, I am not really bothered by that anymore. I know the game will still lack that quality, but I think the AI should definitely run through a few algorithms before directly walking into a room. I watch them walking into rooms with their guard down and getting shot dead... but in other cases... once it clears into a room... it should certainly find a corner to sit in or giving the possibility for the AI stand or peek into a window. ALSO, most importantly the AI should cover door ways. Simply by adding a small invisible Object Position at the door giving the AI a place to watch for enemies. Path finding is mostly to do with simple Vectors, and a bunch of Flow Control logic. The Programmers should certainly take my word for it, this can improve the game dramatically. And if it isn't included in the release of ArmA 3, I'll freaking do it. It's quite a turn off seeing AI walk into rooms mindlessly like Rye said, and this is absolutely a nightmare to see in ArmA 3. I really could not imagine such a good looking game, having AI that STILL does that lol

    Almost all Master Servers uses Game Spy, games from the 90's even used it. It's not a required software to use, but the server query is the best out there :)

    That's what I was really thinking about the most, what will be done in the community after this is all finished. Some things I knew wouldn't be done in the Community made me strongly advise the Dev's to review them. Things like the AI can be a bit more technical than just modding... so that is more of a Engine aspect. I just want to see people keep this innovation going, things like ACE made ArmA 2 a sandbox for simulation. ArmA 3 seems to already have most of that integrated, all we need are things like getting our old school material back. I actually do not 'have' to play with mods on ArmA 3, it looks fun regardless. But to simulate the modern stuff, we need ACE to develop this stuff. It's efficient, and most of the guys are ArmA Vet's.

    I request sort of a Squad based Path Finding skill in Buildings... sort of like how they operate in Formations but more CQB Savvy. I loved seeing this photo, and thinking this think was going to choke up a bit in the close range combat area.

    ARMA 3 - still unrealistic optics

    Well it is indeed an ability for modders to do, and mentioned before... someone saying that rescaling of a RTT scope unavailable? The vehicles in ArmA 3 use RTT inside such as the Submarine... and it rescales the world image. This really doesn't 'have' to be included in the game, but I would rather not have such a humungous sized scope take up my screen... look at these videos below. ps. I like the new Scope FX mod for ArmA 2, that is what I want if not RTT. I like the , which is a bit more realistic towards your arms. Check most of these guns out, but the ACOG Is @0:09...And check out the FN Minimi SAW in this @1:10, the sounds match it's firerate and recoil... I love INF 2.9 I wish it was still around.

    Yeah, I really like the new vehicles and the terrain a lot... plus the customizable gear can make such a more powerful game for interaction! Virtually anything is possible now with the new Body Armor system and the fact you can attach Cameras to your helmet means you can also make a NV Goggle mod that is realtime too. Because you can import and attach separate objects together with PhysX, you'll have tons more room for Customization. There will be tons and tons of new things available for modders to work off of, and the fact that there will be Body Armor means you can get mods like ACE or something similar to add certain amount of protection with different levels of Body Armor. The new lighting effects means better particle effects like explosions and smoke... so there is going to be more availability towards graphical modding now. Laser Sights are probably going to be able to blind players as well as flash lights, sort of like BF3. Lens flare and things can mean a lot, and if there are compounds and large buildings to breach. You'll see tons more missions associated with Close Quarter Combat. Virtually by now, there 'must' be tons of the things Bohemia Interactive is hiding from us :) They haven't said anything on the forums about their progress, sounds to me that there is going to be a ton more things done in this next press release. For this much, and even more... I'll definitely be participating in the Alpha.

    Well both of you are correct, I'm not getting at that... but this is pretty much a thread open to any positive discussion about ArmA 3. People can feel free to say good things, but if you ask me... most of the forum is flaming and spam... everyone has done a bit of it. I made this thread under the intent Bohemia Interactive pays any attention to the forums, but with all of the obsessive requests I'm sure by now they don't really want to lol

    Feedback is letting the Developers know what we think about their development, but this thread is in regards of not asking them to do things but telling them what we are going to like about the game versus all of the negative attention they seem to get elsewhere. The Alpha is not out, but it is also because the community requested a lot from them and they took the liberty of getting things done. So, is it Bohemia Interactive's fault?

    I really like that they hold it back, it tells me they are working hard... and that makes this project more of a present than anything. You're probably going to be waiting the rest of the year, but I think April or May should be release time. It's an educated guess due to the fact that they were ready months ago for a community alpha. So sooner or later, we will be getting something :)

    3d Scopes can be an Option in the Settings, it's as important as the Floating Range of the Player's arms. Some people get sick when looking into a 2d scope, some people feel weird with 3d. I never felt comfortable with scopes in ArmA 2, and because CQB was not Bohemia Interactive's interest I knew that the entire premise of playing sometimes is difficult. The 2d scope screen can be hard to deal with in close quarters, having to put your screen into a large space consuming scope to shoot someone right in front of you can be almost sickening. ArmA 2 originally did not have secondary optics on scopes at first, so to improve the quality of your scopes you should certainly add a feature to use it in 3d. You may have to go through 2 drawn out instances of your scope screen flinging upward and downward before you ever aim, it's completely time consuming in stressful situations. That and using a 2d scope is like being in a tank and aiming at something only a few yards away. 3d Scopes are CLEAN and Organized, and because this new release is strongly upgraded. I'm sure the Dev's wouldn't need to wait out another release of good features like this :| It's a bit ridicules, and annoying... this needs to be solved before ArmA 3 comes out. This hasn't been done in ANY of their releases, it needs to now.

    I've asked around and got a few answers but I still haven't really managed to get an answer about compounds. I noticed people mentioned compounds such as radio stations, or a under ground base... things like that. I saw that the game will have a 3d Editor, will it be possible to work inside of these kind of compounds and set up missions? And if so, I'm a little concerned over these kind of objectives. I apologize for the nasty threads I think I went a bit overboard on the comments and things. I was really trying to clear with everyone if the AI have 'squad' path finding skills in compounds or buildings now. I saw in the Infantry Showcase that the AI would break up in several places of a town and go through doors and gates on their own. AI generally travel in Formations until they reach an area near threats. By this time they start kind of peeking and trying to find enemies more carefully, when I watched the alpha release of the Infantry Showcase I was really looking forward to seeing enemy AI barricaded in a compound or a building. And seeing a Allied squad sort of stack up and infiltrate buildings and compounds. Maybe with this being available, it would open up a new realm of objectives and missions people could design. Such as, infiltrating compounds and securing data or taking photos of ammo caches. Sort of like in America's Army 2.5 with the SF missions. This would be COOL, it's something I wanted from day one in ArmA I and I was expecting it in ArmA II. So this is why I was BUGGING the F' out of everybody, it's a interesting subject. Ok, yeah... the question has been asked and is frequent. I know you guys hate seeing this over and over. So if it helps... this will be the last time I am ever going to do it. ONLY, if I can find a straight answer. I am very excited after seeing this picture. It gave me the sort of idea that ArmA 3 was really going to include Squad AI assets for Compounds. What I was thinking of was kind of like how AI would wait in the corner of a room or some AI would be peeking out of a window or some would be watching the door. So if this is what Bohemia had in mind, I am a real sucker for annoying you guys. Just let me know, this is something I want from ArmA 3 because it's creative. This is evolutionary to the combat experience :)
  18. Everyone here is not getting the POINT!!!! :mad: BE REALISTIC, you're given the different tools like flashbangs, nades... as survival tools. Battlefield 3 is more realistic under close quarters due to the customization of equipment, blinding flashlights and laser sights... you name it. The only thing it doesn't support is a better Squad Based combat. It is realistic, don't play games with us... I've played ArmA since 2007, I understand the issues I constantly see in ArmA and other games. Battlefield 3 has 10x more potential for online play than ArmA, if it had some kind of mod like Project Reality. If you people think PvP is not realistic, try playing a bot that stands up while being shot at. He isn't smart enough to defend himself, while you have the ability to nail his ass over and over. I'm sorry, PvP can be better than CooP if there was teamwork involved... and it being a balanced game.

    I do have to mention that real life mountains and terrain is a bit different from ArmA. If you go to visit mountains in real life... there are springs... a lot of stone walls and sometimes trails that move around the side of the mountain to the top. I really think with the new tools and engine of ArmA 3, it is likely we could make some really badass terrain. I only think that the mountains in ArmA are a little bit too simple. But don't mind me, you guys are very creative... come up with some really good artwork for your fans :) I am going to buy ArmA 3, I just want to know more about the stuff we're getting. When will the alpha\beta be out for public, I know Ivan and Martin are not present. Will this mean another two long years of waiting :confused:
  20. Everytime I build into PBO when I have a Userconfig involved... nothing works. Does anyone else have trouble building PBO's when you're PBO points towards Userconfig? It compiles all perfect, but when I go into the game none of the .sqf's and configs load. It's so odd :| Perhaps if I am doing it wrong, can someone show me how to simply pack a PBO and make a Userconfig successfully?
  21. Hey, I am having trouble with being injured while firing with ACE Weapon Resting. I think it has something to do with the player and weapon collision.

    ACE for OA 1.13

    Hey sickboy, I know this is an abstract request. I have tried my absolute best to program a body armor modification that is compatible with ACE. But for me with my lack of experience using CBA source I just really need someone else to do it. I am good at overriding functions and classes but I just don't know how to use CBA well enough from the start. Is it possible for you to add a few parameters to ace for the player to change in his settings so that he can change the amount of damage bullets do to the chest and legs? Given Level III Armor is supposed to protect people from 7.62x39 rounds it should not be a problem to survive bullet hits. Pain threshold can stay, but a simple wobble when it or something where the player camera gets knocked around. As far as the bleed out, there should not be... but if anything yes... some effects on impact and strong Level III Armor please :)
  23. Is this a Sound Mod it self, or does this System work with not just ACEX_SM but anyone else? I can tell you'd have to write sounds for different environments for this to be handled correctly...

    oh thanks, i might had not got the update... but I am seeing an error... something like fnc_getaiskill i think. Something may be messed up in my settings, and yeah I am using TPWC AI too... as well as ACE. Maybe thats the problem, anyways thanks for the support :)
