  1. [steps to fix ArmA 2's Performance] 1. Start ArmA 2 or any other game you desire 2. Start task manager and minimize ArmA 2 3. Check to make sure not many un-needed processes are running 4. Those of processes running with higher priority than other's turn to normal or lower. 5. Then change the Affinity Rate to ALL cores 6. Then the biggest step is to make ArmA 2's Priority Rate Very High "The reason for these steps is because ArmA 2 takes up more resources than the computer is native to giving. The priority rate is basically telling the computer how many resources you want the computer to give it. The higher the priority the greater your resources are being dedicated to this one process. Now, it may seem to some people that the more processes the worse the game will play. But in fact, that isn't totally true. The game would only lose a little bit of performance from that. And the game is only wanting more resources from the main computer it self, and not other processes."

Its most likely that your GFX card is good, however I don't know anything about your CPU.

    How to fix Performance

Haha, well this might be because my computer automatically set ArmA 2 to a low priority. And wasn't giving anything to it, maybe you guys have enough resources to play the game already. But once I fixed it, I was able to go from 30-40 AI etc, to around 1,000-2,000 AI. Btw, after I posted a reply to Bohemia Interactive I had got a virus some how off of the website. And my entire computer can't find any .exe's now. So basically I am going to have to use Linux until I can get Windows 7 installed again. So if you guys are going to need at help doing things, I am not really going to be around.
  4. Delta Force is a extremely small squad I am going to be putting together. It may contain a total of 4 3 members which I am already declared one. But the training involved will be specified on MSN or AIM. The difference between Delta-Force is that you will not be playing with a ton of people, instead you will be playing with a few. And 100% of the time we play as a restrictive team. 100% efficient tactics and far more extreme than any other Realism Clan you can find. I will have a website soon, it will be cheap but it is what will get us by. All recruits or tryouts will be with me, I must test you're weapons, inventory, and vehicle familiarization before I grant clearance. I will assign each squad member a certain role as a Delta Force member. I will also soon have missions to test our knowledge and abilities to cooperate as a team, and survive in highly occupied territories. ::MSN:: Zplea@hotmail.com ::AIM:: Evolution1189
  5. What an excellent mod, the only thing I must agree with is the initialization takes a little while. And for some missions I have made or play, don't even last but about 5 minutes haha

    How to fix Performance

Haha, what??? Running as Admin doesn't do anything concerning performance, maybe letting you control files etc. But I have already stated to reasons of setting your priority. Because the computer originally gives each process a limited amount of resources from your quad core and memory. And the higher the priority the more cpu and memory is threaded and optimized for the process you are wanting to run.

    How to fix Performance

Well, originally I tried it without bumping the priority up and it was so bad I couldn't even play with about 20 bots haha. But I can imagine that there other ways to fix performance, but this is mainly dedicated towards memory usage and cpu. It really should help those of you who have great computers all around. But for the most odd reasons ArmA 2 wouldn't be running at the FPS rate it should. My rates we're around 10 or 15 and then when I put my priority up I got up to 30 to 40 or sometimes more frames per second. I advise that you try these methods, but if you want to see a video of me doing it first that would be fine. But none of the things I told you are going to harm your computer what so ever, the only thing it is doing is just telling what the computer needs to concentrate on.

    How to fix Performance

On my computer it seems to have trouble any how. I have a AMD Phenom ii x4 965, and it runs like a beast. There was nothing I did more than to set the priority to Very High in task manager. And it ran some of the most biggest battles you could put in-game. Probably some with over 1,000 AI. BTW, re-read what the steps are. And my reasons for the Priority Rate.

    How to fix Performance

Incorrect sidhellfire, I made it so only Microsoft processes start up. Nothing else is running but ArmA2.exe etc. The priority of ArmA 2 must be set to Very High. Because the computer is most likely giving you little resources to play it. For those who are absolutely fine with this, I am probably sure you've already got it set up this way.

ArmA 2 Performance Problems with v1.07

Ok guys, so I have found out the problem causing the choppiness on ArmA 2. It was the amount of mods being used. And not only that, but ACE mod was the main source of the choppiness. I am going to be doing more testing for you guys in a moment, to see what mods are best for performance and game play.
  11. I recently installed the v1.07 and it became a total mistake. Before I installed the patch the game was running magnificently fine at all times. But now, even with the graphics on low it will run smooth but every 10 seconds the game will begin to move choppy for another 5-10 seconds. And suddenly become smooth again, but this like I said is constant. And it isn't very pleasing to try and play a mission with the performance issues I am getting. I notice that whenever I look up into the sky it all just stops. And even with ArmA 2 running on max graphics it runs smooth but does the same thing. It seems like the game isn't really written to process all of the rendering and particles and effects at the same time. From what I have seen up till now, my computer is almost 100% perfect. Whether or not my video isn't the best, it runs excellent. So I am just wondering if I can tweak this performance issue and make it run better. Hopefully not having to buy more hardware. System Specs _______________ Nvidia 9800gtx+ AMD Phenom ii x4 965 black edition [quad core at 3.6ghz] 8gb DDR2 memory Thermal take BADASS case with [3]23cm fans and one small LCD in the front ASUS Motherboard Rocketfish 5.1 Sound FX Card Two Dell speakers and a bass modifier Thermal Take 700watt power supply Windows 7 RC 64 bit Ultimate [Cracked] 3 Hard Drives [1]System [2]Software [3]Games [Kinda old hard drives, I don't know the disk speed] and a small 1240x1024 dell monitor that is kind of out dated
  12. I have tried over and over to get this expansion to work with ArmA 2's v1.07 already installed. I get passed the installation and all, but when I get into the main menu and other menus. I try and initiate campaign or anything concerning game play, and the game just crashes. I guess it is important to also mention that during the installation of Operation Arrowhead it told me that the game needed v1.06 instead. Its just another problem to worry about, yahoo!
  13. Well, I get to the main menu and I can see the island and stuff... but anything within interaction of playing it will crash. And I have also configured my settings etc.

ArmA 2 Performance Problems with v1.07

Its funny how it acts as if my computer is old and junky... when in fact it is brand new and built from scratch. It should be worth the money, because I spent almost $1,000 with soul and effort to build something. Especially since it was my first time I have ever looked at how a computer runs. I'm very displeased at the performance rate, especially since I have a better computer than some people I am seeing; running it at full blast 60-70 fps. I don't think there is a single thing I can fix except getting a new Graphics Card. But these days, why bother if you've only got about $20.00 to spend in your wallet HAHA!! ---------- Post added at 03:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:02 AM ---------- Well Alexc, please give me your Frames Per Second and your system specs. Your full system specifications that is... and I believe running ArmA 2 with 2gb is fine... its just your actual computer needs more memory. If your computer is hogging the memory resources while your game is requesting a butt load. You are asking for some trouble... I can't imagine how much memory is free after playing a game that takes up 500,000 mb of resources... That is half a gb man, and your basically not getting much left to thread into ArmA 2. I am sure its not a whole lot especially with Explorer.exe and a few other important processes on Win7. Computers are just a bitch to keep up to date are they not?

ArmA 2 Performance Problems with v1.07

Ok, btw... I am happy you have stuck with us for the time you have now... I think that ArmA 2's programming doesn't really try to consume a quad core computer. That or they wrote the programming based on a Intel Core Processor instead of an AMD. Because up till now, I have seen more Intel Core i7's totally beat the game to a pulp. Anyways, moving on to benchmarks I have made. I've noticed that my Quad Core processor is doing more work than my GFX card because it is a little weak. The video memory is half a gb and it doesn't really clock that fast imo. All of the rendering and post processing of explosions and gunfire cause an extreme amount of stuttering, and I had set up about 100 us jets vs 100 russian jets. It didn't lag as bad as it did when they began to fight, it did lag a bit though. Sometimes it might just pause for 5 to 10 seconds completely. Its possible my GFX card isn't equal to my CPU and its overworking the other. I have noticed that all hardware works together to do a difficult task like this. Plus, Rocketfish hasn't really given me a compatible installation for my sound card on Windows 7, they are some of the cheapest builders I have ever heard of. So I believe the sounds etc are also being dumped onto my memory and cpu. Whether or not I have the sound card installed. Also, I noticed that the farther away the battle... the little less choppy it got. Probably because I couldn't see all of the bullets rendering. I just don't know how to build a computer that can play a game THIS complex. I don't think its really possible with a low budget. And I can't be certain its just my graphics card, because its never going to be just one thing. ArmA 2 is just surreal and probably won't be pimped out until the future has arrived. If you would like my video card specifications, I would be more than grateful to give them to you.

ArmA 2 Performance Problems with v1.07

Yes, and I am not sure it has anything to do with thread's or cpu's. In fact the more thread's and cpu's the better the game should run. I recommend ignoring patches if your game is already running well. Because they always mess something else up. I figured this new patch was as good as new... maybe we need to report this to the Support Team of Bohemia Interactive. This is actually a important issue in performance to fix guys, so don't ignore this subject. I am sure me and Alexc are not the only ones having this problem, we are just the only ones posting this here on the forums. ---------- Post added at 07:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ---------- Do you know the original thread's and cpu's of the game before this new patch?

ArmA 2 Crashing on MAX quality

Haha yeah it is, I've been able to go a whiles with the graphics up this high. I actually don't need a high resolution for it to look good. But since ArmA 2 is already this real, why not make it look more real in the first place lol... I hate using low terrain detail lol
  18. Well just been messing around with the game again, trying out new tweaks and what ever. And I found that my computer can handle ArmA 2 perfectly on the highest resolution, highest view distance, all of the other assets on Very High including Terrain... and even manage to make the 3d Interface Very Small too. So nothing is really out of proportion... however, when I play the game. It seems to crash after a certain amount of minutes. It seems to happen most on Warfare, Domination, and when I use a lot of people or zombies. I've tried many things... but I don't plan on playing ArmA 2 if I can not max out the graphics. I built a computer for over 2 years just to plan for ArmA 2!!! It's kind of given me a grudge about this game... and I certainly wish I could get more out of what I earned. ::My system specs:: Video Card- Nvidia 9800gtx+ CPU- AMD Phenom II x4 Black Edition Clocked At 2.6 ghz Box- Thermal Take with [3]23cm Fans and a smaller fan in the front Memory- 8 Gig of DDR2 Memory [Works well] Operating System- Windows 7 RC [i made a crack] Power Supply- 700WATT Sound Card- Rocketfish 6.1 ssp ---------- Post added at 01:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 PM ---------- ::Graphics Card SPECS:: GPU Engine Specs: CUDA Cores 128 Graphics Clock (MHz) 738 MHz Processor Clock (MHz) 1836 MHz Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 47.2 Memory Specs: Memory Clock (MHz) 1100 Standard Memory Config 512 MB Memory Interface Width 256-bit Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 70.4 Feature Support: NVIDIA SLI®-ready 2-way/3-Way NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready yes NVIDIA PureVideo® Technology HD NVIDIA PhysX™-ready yes NVIDIA CUDA™ Technology yes HybridPower™ Technology yes GeForce Boost Microsoft DirectX 10 OpenGL 2.1 Certified for Windows 7 yes Display Support: Maximum Digital Resolution 2560x1600 Maximum VGA Resolution 2048x1536 Standard Display Connectors HDTV Dual Link DVI Multi Monitor yes HDCP yes HDMI Via adapter Audio Input for HDMI SPDIF Standard Graphics Card Dimensions: Height 4.376 inches Length 10.5 inches Width Dual-slot Thermal and Power Specs: Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) 105 C Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) 141 W Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 450 W Supplementary Power Connectors 6-pin x2

    WarFX Particles

I can tell you this from experience ;] When a bomb goes off, you basically have big rocks flying out at you. And after the bigger rocks, then the pebbles and smaller ones fly at you. Good luck with the mod guys, I'm loving it so far.

    Day and Night cycle script?

Ok thank you for the help, all I need to know is what command do I need to execute. Where would I need to execute the command, and how to execute both the .ext and init.sqf??
