Ah, OK :) Well, to be fair those skills are in the manual, and from there I guess it's just practice. But I take the point :)The manual is a very good point. :)
I think the videos are a better way to present that information, but that is just me :)

Well, I don't wish to be unnecessarily argumentative, but I should disagree on this point. I don't want to play a game I can play well right away. I wish to learn things and have an amount of difficulty. I don't wish to be able to perform every role in ArmA2 without difficulty. Where would be the gameplay? Where would be the expertise? Getting a great AT man on your team is a nice feeling, knowing he can do it much better than anyone else on the team makes him valuable.Don't take this as a harsh or rude comment but have you watch the dev videos parts 1 and 3? They don't tell you how to be good at the game. They only tell you the basics of how to move your character around the environment and the basics of how to control your squad.
I don't feel as if that information removes the challenge; I feel that it removes the frustration of trying to learn a deep system without adequate information being readily available.
I think the videos present the material in an easy to understand fashion. I learned quite a bit from them. I only have played the demo, so maybe the full version has better tutorials, not sure.

Wouldn't that make the patch rather massive?A) Low res versions?
B) A tutorial menu in game that links to the videos? Since it requires an online connection to get the patch anyway, so a link might work in this case

Just ask them to make it downloadable on their website instead. in HD :)Lol. I disagree. I shouldn't have to go to your website to learn how to play the game.
When you get a game you don't go to the website first. You only go there if you have a problem or are actively seeking out some information. When you get a new game, you want to play it. If you put a link to the videos in the game it's self then people are much more likely to find the content. And this content is important for new players, in my opinion.

It would go a long way to help new players to the series learn how to play the game. The in game tutorials are okay, but still pretty weak.
I shouldn't have to go to the games website to learn how to play the game.
Just a thought,
Mike

thanks guys...@mbmonk.... no "stealing" required - like Freetrack, my ideas are free too! :D
(my previous design was similar, but instead of a cableclip I just pressed & glued the legs between 2 small, light coins)
Have a good think - bet you could do even BETTER!

Lol.
You have definitely opened my eyes on this. Light weight, no batteries, and no on/off switch! I REALLY like it :).

That is an awesome setup. I am jealous!
I might have to steal that idea for my final FreeTrack setup!!! :)

I don't think you have to be an industrial systems developer to understand where Naturalpont is coming from. It's just common sense. I appreciate what Naturalpoint has accomplished.
The 'possible legal issues' FUD has made it into the thread, awesome! Thread complete! Close now!
I think $150 for a TrackIR is insane. You are right it's not worth THAT much to me. They can keep it, respectfully speaking of course.
Using face recognition for head tracking, if it works, will render this confrontation trivial. If you can use face recognition for TrackIR like functionality Sony or MS will figure it out. Then the FPS crowds will buy the peripheral in bulk and more games will support it. And everyone gets what they want, both FreeTrack and TrackIR users, and that is more head tracking in more games.
But we can keep arguing if you want to pass the time until then :).

There is already a FreeTrack poll where you can vote to show your support. Even being a TrackIR user I sympathise with you, but this thread will probably be locked for the same reason most of the others were locked. There has also been a statement by one of the Arma2 developers about FreeTrack support.
I appreciate the response. I don't care if they close the thread. I understand. I just want to voice my support/request. That task is complete now. :)
Thanks for the link to the poll and the response from the devs.

I would LOVE it if Arma2 incorporated FreeTrack at some point. I know the team has MUCH more pressing issues to fix so just when you get a chance take a look at it.
Thanks,
Mike
PS: All the other FreeTrack threads were closed. So I couldn't find an existing thread to post my support for FreeTrack in Arma2. Sorry.
This game made me violently sick. Might persue legal action.
