Thank you for the reply. I just have never "installed into steam directory" before. So, Is what Ill do, Is look at the directory path on my machine with it in steam, Then on my backup rig, Install INTO the same directory (instead of a default install) as my Main rig with steam arma. Then after the game is installed, Input the CD key, and Steam with recognize it as a legit steam game and update it with the necessary files for the games to communite. If that sounds right, I will do it today. Thank you Mirek, I appreciate you taking the time to clarify!- 7 replies

I should add, That I did buy AMRA 2co for steam, and thats what I primarily play now..My buddies that used to come over, have not been able to play because Im not paying for ARMA again on a machine I barely use. So If I can in fact use my legally purchased retail copy on steam, I would love to, but the instructions are a bit unclear- 7 replies

wait...Im confused. I have 2 copies of arma CO, and then went ahead and bought the arma for steam. So your saying that I can take one of my copies of my retail disc, and put it on my other machine so that it will be compatible with Steam arma? My biggest problem with ARMA now in relation to steam, is I have a couple machines I used to use for buddies to come over and play ARMA with a group online. After the steam take over, The retail and Steam versions do not communicate and I cannot get them to be in the same server no matter what version I select or anything.- 7 replies

G.I.DAVE, Reporting for Duty. Arma history- Started playing when it was Operation Flashpoint, Then Resistance. Played ARMA heavily, and moved on to ARMA 2 and then CO. I have been with this franchise since its inception. I have not jumped on to AMRA 3 yet for a couple reasons. I want to stay with ARMA 2 for now. Clan/Force history- Played heavily with the old 1stID back around 2007-2009(?). Worked my way up from PFC to warrant Officer to command the air detachment for all training and ops. Had about 15 members under me, and I kept it strong, real, and fun. Ground guys knew they could count on pinpoint, reliabel air assets, in either the CAS or transport role when The Air wing was my baby. When Air assets were not needed in ops, I would lead a Spec ops team if needed. I can lead fireteams, or take on roles such as MG, SAW, or Medic. Willing to work my way up from the bottom, as I understand chain of command, and time of service with members. My strengths are aircraft, rotary and fixed wing. On the ground, I love and excel at stealth operations. I also love to be a bang bang with a group, so of course I would love to fly, but I have no problem humping a rifle covering corners. Strong leadership skills, built through respect of my team and command. When the 1id disbanded, it was a good time for me to take a break. I had 2 kids, that are now in school full time. I had been part of a gaming group where we played every sunday night, so Sunday nights are a given free for me (eastern time) and I understand there will be training and practice days during the week which I can commit to. I also have strong map editing skills, as I was part of the team that built the Ops for the 1ID. We used to host massive coop Ops, with joint efforts from other clans. My handle in the 1ID was G.I.DAVE if anyone here remembers. Teamwork. fun. reliability. Honor of the task force. I take my ARMA seriously, but still want to have fun with like minded players. Currently using Playwith6 as my mod launcher, familiar with ACE and i44. Hope to find a large unit to join, and be an asset for a team. Thanks for your consideration Dave -

I just got into this mod, as it popped up on PW6, and its just pure awesome. I made a quick map, put a Group of US soldiers in the woods, and my son and me were watching....all quiet...walking through woods. At 1st I thought the mod was a flop, I turn around and here is this freakin cloaked Pred running full speed at me, It makes "the Predator noise" and I hear a swipe of a blade.... My son and I simultaneously screamed like little bitches... I will be playing with this for some time. Ive read through some posts, and I see mention of Blain's Minigun..but I cannot find any units besides Preds in the Editor. Is the minigun included or is this a separate DL I need? Thanks for a great scare, and a GREAT mod! -

Hello, I searched and could not find a question I have answered. When steam offered ARMA CWA for free, I got some buddies into it, and now they want to DL ARMAII CO from steam. My question, I have 2 PCs with retail copies, will my retail stuff be 100% compatible with Steam version? I have been making maps and moderate scripting since OFP, and I have zero experience with the Steam version of CO, but my Steam version of CWA seems just like a retail OFP file structure. Will I still be able to make maps, and them join? Can we join the same domination type servers? Does things like "Play with 6" work with steam version for easy mod input? (friends are noobs and a launcher will help them) Thanks for any input. -

Hello all, Just recently Steam gave away Arma Cold war assault. (OFP) I've been playing OFP since release, all forms, Xbox, ARMA 1, 2, and 3. Now all my gaming buddies have this new ARMA cold war. I need to know, what addons and islands, and such are compatible? -is there a resource to get new stuff? most of the old sites I used to use are dead, or all dedicated to the newer ARMAs -Do Addons like BAS rangers and such still work? Any help telling me the changes would be much appreciated, or things to watch for, or know. I make maps, and plan on having a lot of fun with the guys. they LOVED it. Thanks!!

ok sweet! thanks for the reply! I searched and found your script here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=84854&highlight=editor+based+spawn looked at the mission and I noticed that the names of the groups "first third ETC" and the triggers are set or ONCE. SO to use this like I want with enemys continuously spawning (with a delay of course) I could copy and past exactly what you have on the sample mission, put what you have in the units init lines in MY units lines, and make the trigger fields bigger right? Set them to repeatedly and put like 50 in each of the time boxxes for a delay? Gee...this is a great way to do this without typing all the units out in fields ands such..I can just CREATE the units I want to respawn, and put your text in there, the script in the folder, and BAM..its done right? If I put in the garbage collector will it clean up the bodys? dosent seem to do so.. THANKS again I took your "first group" backpack trigger and set it to repeat, but the units did not repeat, then I noticed in some of the units you have "repeat" and "Once" in some, but I didnt notice the ones that have repeat..spawn again when I went to the backpack. what is the difference? If I were to Copy one of the triggers/units you made for my map which one would work to always respwan a group, say every 30 seconds or one minute? And what you said above about..LOOP..event handler...Remove group...sounds GREAT...but im a salesman and carpenter guy..some of this, in my eyes is similar to tech used in getting satalites in orbit. Not that im dumb..I just dont know all the language I guess...and ..well..mabye Im a dumb ass I dunno ;) your test map sure does make for a nice little skirmish...very cool -

Hello. My eyes and brain are fired from searchin through all the pages and hoping someone can help. not sure if what imn reading here will do what I want, or if what I want is even poossible.. Here is what I want to do. I want a simple map, for me and my buddy to play on. We use CAA addons with OG arma maps. We want to have a "defend" mission and time to see how long we can last and have the threat od running out of ammo and such. So simply I need to be able to SPAWN groups of insurgents, We would like regular, and weapons groups, to repeatedly spawn and attack our position. we want a ton. I made a map with mover 400 insurgents and it chugs the performance. So if the squad is destroyed it would be great id they disappeared as well. Like I said..simple..spawn a groups of insurgents, regs and weapons groups, have them charge and attack our position, and have them disappear when they are destroyed. Most everything I read seems like its more complex than im needing or im not fluent in the scripting language. I know how to put a script into my folder, and I usually copy N paste the esecute in the init. Im not lazy...ive searched, and im posting to see if anyone would like to help me. I think what im trying to do is a little more simple than most of what i read in some posts. Help is greatly appreciated. -

Still playing with this one. I have alot of searchlights on the carrier, and im wondering if there is a way to make the markers at a higher altitude, so the lights look up higher...any thoughts? Is there a way to make the markers higher, or make the searchlights look at a game logic? Thanks again..
