Did you read my first suggestion ? Shift-clicking the map in game gives you a waypoint and the distance to that waypoint... -

Open the map. put you mouse over your target. SHIFT-CLICK near the target. You now have a marker with distance. Enjoy. -

It's my understanding you cant "target" infantry from an air vechicle. I setup a russian soldier in a field with no tree and could'nt spot him. Part of it might have been due to my drunk autopilot .... useless uav.... -
Will on the subject of the controls : While playing the game, how can you add markers to the map ? I've seen some games where people would mark the map with a series of dot to map a flight path ! So far, I know that : Shift click - Creates a waypoint Double click - Creates a simple marker * Why is that NOT in the official manual... Or why doesnt the manual have a link to dslyecxi page..... *

Your lucky if that's your only issue... I was doing some IED tests in a small town and put the blast radius to 200 meters instead of 20 meters. That was an automatic crash to desktop without having saved my mission before. :j: -

I use PboView0.8 to do that. If you are not affraid of scripting, follow the instructions here. Tomorrow, if you need more details, i'll be glad to provide. I'm just way tired. Burned 2 hours on this without realizing it ! Note that all the credit goes to Xeno for providing every pieces of script I use here. 1. Create a mission in the mission editor and save it. 2. Navigate to the mission folder. On my pc : User/UserName/Documents/Arma 2/missions/TheNameOfTheMission In that folder, you should see mission.sqm file. Put all the file I ask you to create in the same directory. 3. Create the text file : prep_backpack.sqf 4. put the following text in the prep_backback.sqf file : 5. Create the file x_backpack.sqf and put the following text in it : 6. Create a soldier, in the name field, put a name, in the init field, put : 7. Voila. You have the backpack. Now, I dont have a clue on how to have the backpack to be active once you respawn. I tried with triggers, etc, but it is not working. I hope someone could shed some ligh on that. 8. Thank Xeno for the epic work done on the Domination maps. -

I disagree. Everything is in your turn and alignment with the target. I've been practicing some and frankly I can pretty much nail a guy running in a field now. It takes very few hits to blow up a T-90 with the gatling. I use the trackIr and that allows me to track the targets in turns which helps a lot aligning yourself with it. For the missiles, the fact that you only have to line-up the airplane, hit tab, then fire to guaranty 100% hit chance would make 4 or 6 more missiles kind of an aberation. Even with the 2 hellfire, you can pop above a hill, target the AA, blow it up and hide before they cant even react. From there, you can just fly over the battlefield ( in most servers anyway ).

I can see a lot of issues in having an A-10 with 8 mavericks. If you want to setup your own mission, you can easily use a small script and change to loadout to get 8 missiles instead of the 2 available. For my part, I think that with the canon the A-10 has a LOT of punch. Adding 6 more missiles would make multiplayer a real nightmare.

Good morning guys, I'm currently using the onboard sound card of my Asus P5N-D mobo. I was wondering 2 things : Will the sound be better with a sound card in arma ? Will the game run smoother ( i heard i can gain some fps with a soundcard ) What are your experiences with adding a soundcard ? Any suggestions on a soundcard ? -

Now they dont, but even before the WoW era, they managed to release good products. I know they "money" factor is important. I suppose you have to weight between long term client satisfaction and quick money making.

Well, for my part, I dont mind them taking too long. I dont think releasing a half-done campaing is better than releasing no campaing at all. Look at blizzard. They announce something, take forever to release it, but when they do, it is usually very polished. I prefer dumping my money on a finished product than a bugged one. release the "requested" feature, but only if they are actually working.

Landing on buildings with chute and climbing structures

Hi, While playing multiplayer, I like getting my sniper rifle and try to get on some buildings. However, I found that there is only very few places you can get. Example : In the capital city, I do the Halo jump and try to get on the big hotel roof or the factory building roof. Result, I spawn at the base of the building. I have searched the troubleshooting forum for "building" and nowhere is that issue mentionned. Seeing I couldn't not land on most building, I started to try to climb. I found a tall strucutre with long stairs, got on the roof of another building, saw an inclined grain elevator, started going up that, reached a flat roof, used "V" to get on it, just to start sliding ( on a flat roof.... during summer........... ) to my death on the other side of the building. Finnaly, is it just me or doing HALO jumps is very risky since you can land on you belly and get stucked there FOREVER :mad: -

Look around 2.40. The AI seems to get in position but I dont think he fires at anything ....
