Artefacts and Graphic Bugs till crash Poll
interox replied to neojd[ny]'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Tried a bit of testing. Default settings [1500m view distance ] same effect crash while flying. AA up to high , black vehicles and bots [they look like covert ops guys from movies] Also flashing purple chequer pattern on heli's. Flush tweak resets this back to normal textures. AA back to normal and flying = crash. I wont be typing flush every 5 mins before anyone suggests it! Is the video buffer overflowing trying to draw to much world detail? [can/does it even do that?] Pre 1.04 using last beta I was rock steady. I've changed nothing apart from patching up. Now i'm back to messing with settings instead of enjoying arma2. -
Artefacts and Graphic Bugs till crash Poll
interox replied to neojd[ny]'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Mines fairly random but the clincher is flying with a view distance of 3k [set via status in mousewheel menu ingame] ,all settings on high, PP off AA normal AF normal 1920*1200. Guaranteed crash if I fly anywhere near a town or city but not limited to that criteria. It just takes a little longer otherwise. vista 64 utimate 295gtx i7 -
Artefacts and Graphic bugs, unplayable
interox replied to neojd[ny]'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Great video OP, shows exactly the problem. This happening to me also since 1.04. no issues previously when using latest beta patch. I crashed to desktop very shortly after seeing these artifacts. I was flying an a10 over chernogorsk at the time. The lag and texture loading was horrendous. -
Same as above. Whats changed BIS?

I too am struggling to complete the bank mission. I placed 6+ satchels on it and all it does is cause debris, no completion though. Ive even flattened every building in the immediate vicinity and blown up the debris and still no luck edit- Oh I see we now have ranks based on post count. How very novel. I feel Like a real grown up soldier.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
interox replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Possible fix to my post in the nvidia card owners thread. Running the latest beta's I was crashing to desktop frequently. I noticed a slight sound distortion just before I crashed. Most noticeable when changing vehicle views from external to internal or vice versa. I went into my vista sound control panel and lowered sound settings from 24 bit to 16 bit. Crashing seems to have stopped. Will post back after further testing. -

I'm going to reinstall drivers and directx. However, can anyone shed any light on this fault other than it does mention d3d9? -

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx

AI gunner response in vehicles appears to be sluggish at best now. Maybe its just me. Enemy vehicle AI however is spot on, t-72 tanks and such just dont miss from 1000m and my lazy gunner hasnt even traversed the gun. Also to those noticing the AT AI soldiers being ineffective. Simple solution is to use AA soldiers as they engage aircraft and armour immediately. They are however not so hot at engaging infantry 50m infront of them -
Glad I checked the forum. I Thought my system was borked. Reinstalled and the problem was still there. Gamespy issue maybe?

New Vista 64 PC almost ready to take this game back to store for a refund!
interox replied to raybee's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Update your INF drivers, sound drivers and LAN drivers. I had a day of crashes to desktop [arma2.exe has stopped working, the only game I own that crashes regularly BTW ] so I sat down and double checked my driver updates. The giveaway was the slight sound distortion before the last crash and having found updated sound drivers on the gigabyte website [ UD5 MOBO ] I decided to do the other 2 aswell. Not crashed in the last 6 hrs so its looking good. BTW I'm I7 920, VISTA64 and XFX 295 too. Only one side effect is my TS is not working correctly since updating sound drivers but thats wandering off topic. Since 1.03 my settings are all on highest possible except pp disabled af normal aa high view distance 10000 res 1900*1200 [both settings] Goodluck. -
How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??
interox replied to mattyh1986's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
To be fair to the BIS dev team I'm sure they were opposed to such an early release but we're oveRridden by the men in suits in the offices above them that funded the project. They needed to see a return for their investment before the rival game [ DR ] came out. -

Well done BIS for responding in this way. A little communication goes a long way.

Information on the internet about problems in games is like wildfire hence the failure of Arma2 to reach BF2 type sales. On paper the game is far superior graphically and gameplay wise with a multitude of vehicles, gamemodes and addons constantly being released. What's the difference between the two games, well one works out of the box and you can play it for hours on end without a crash [ of course there have been patches but the released game worked ] where as the other appears to need numerous tweaks and system settings adjustments just to get it is started and running badly for what seems the majority of users. Bad word of mouth travels faster than good.... The internet is full of instant gratification seekers . We want to game for pleasure. Spending your valuable leisure time watching your chosen medium fail is a real let down. I'll be buying OPFDR and I wont be buying Arma3.

There's a score bug Xeno. I was 18000+ points for 80 deaths when I left a server 2 mins ago. Everytime I reconnect my score doubles.

Arma II is going on the shelf...
interox replied to IrishDeviant's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Try a registry cleaner [important], then a driver cleaner , reinstall gpu drivers [190.38 whql] then defrag the hdd. Dont run with any switches except -nosplash. Goodluck. -
can AI still see through clutter grass in 1.03?
interox replied to fedaykin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You have given your position away! You lay down in the tall grass and close your eyes really tight and hope no one see's you ;-) Or you could: Give your position away. Lay down a cover of smoke and run like hell crouched and zig- zagging to avoid enemy fire.
