they are a company and for sure they've made this decision because it is better for their business, and i'm happy to buy arma 3 helping to incrementing by buying it BIS business, wich actually is the most community friendly videogame company all over the world, in arma communities seems to be in a kind of big family and BIS developers and/or empolyees are always around in posting and interacting with community, they are the only company left, doing this, in VBS2 you have to pay to have assistance of any kind, but btw BIS support staff is always around for helping without to ask a single cent... this is BIS the only one company left doing this

the problem ain't steam i really would like to see arma running on linux also, i really can't wait to kick microsoft's bottom once for all, after windows 8 it is even worst

Peronally i don't hate steam and i own many games on it expecially Total War games wich from empire total war are steam exclusive, but i really don't believe in: Without Steam you would be seeing a 2014/2015 release..... because the file packaging is the same, nothing changes to a "ready" title steam/non steam, this is just an apology for non steam lovers, when a game is done is done not depending on wich platform you'll release it and with the only difference to have +5 .dll wich are for steam platform

More players does not mean more quality players, but means BIS best business, more players = more moneys the equation is like this: more players + [more moneys + BIS] = more fun and better future for our favourite game series development, more fun like to try to imagine the Coddy guy buying ArmA 3 and coming to play against your clan in a PvP ..... lol lol lol x 1 000 000 :D so it will be very funny thinking also to chat spam

I really hope for the community alpha wich was set for february 2012, problems, set for after gamescom (august 2012), set for december 2012 (lemnos accident), arma 3 was notced in the far 2011 for summer 2012, delayed to an unknown 2013, right BIS need to fix it , to improve exc. wonderful, now after 2 yrs i believe it's time for alpha, or beta or whatever it is, enough to wait, 2 yrs are a long time and i becoming old, and an alpha (or wathever it is) will make me to know if i have to start to saving my moneys for a better hardware configurations to run it maxed out at final release

I hate steam but.... assuming the fact ArmA is a niche product (has been before... OMG i have to write it.... Day-Z), so steam offer the possibility to be more visible and to the general public {"from the developers of ArmA2 and Day-Z :butbut: the brand new military simulation"} else { exc. exc. }; and for sure for marketing it is way better, and about development, there aren't big differences to develop steam and non steam the files packages are the same, the only thing steam users were the last to have patches (i remember 1.56 for OA); if i can i also buy games outside steam digital but non steam, and about steam workshop.... mmmh i don't like it but btw i really can't wait to play arma3 even if i'm afraid to become deluded by it...... The world is in continuous changing, business are changing and politics also, after all from 2001 to today 12 yrs have pased out

Yes underwater is way better in VBS2, and overall animations too, don't know about balistics, i've never tried RTI, i've just seen a full presentation of it, technically VBS2 is a step forward, but i also know with the overall sim. look you can do better than now, i think also VBS2 doesn't need arma3 graphics, but for the fact graphics aren't important i believe this is not completely true, it's not the main task for a training sim, but it can be usefull, due to brain immersion and brain training, even if i am, i don't speak for PE users but for the main target of this training simulator

Just start the game as administrator and all will be ok, i had the same issues in ArmA2 and IF aswell under win 8 i have to always run ArmA and IF as administrator and you'll have the permissions to write files in the System disk, in this case in the folder missions and MPmissions inside the main installation folder wich is in the System disk ( C: ) or whatever it is you can make this: run as administrator thing, permament by right clicking on the shortcut in the desktop ->compatibility->always run as administrator greetings EDIT: actually the bugs present in IF are the same present in ArmA 2 CO or OA and nothing else
