    Patch 1.03 Satisfaction Survey

OK, I didn't read everything .. so just some experience/thoughts: It's really nice to see that AI doesn't go "All thatta way" after some sniping from 1.5km, if I've got a hard time targetting some AI (equiped with normal sights), how the &%$Y are they shooting me faster then I could shoot them? M107 is really underpowered imo, it should be able to disable small vehicles with 1 or 2 shots. And oblitterating enemies -> extra fear would be nice with such a gun imo. If I were standing next to a guy who got shot and had trouble recognising any parts from him at all, I'd probably pee in my paints (yeah, lucky me .. never went into the army, doesn't mean I don't know weapon stats). CPU consumption though is really my point of complain. AMD 3200+ min, 4400+ rec .. I've got 6400+ and the campaign is hardly playable. 14-16 fps? My GPU is usually running those FPS as % ... why is this game so demanding on CPU when one isn't even near AI orso? Red Harvest I think it was, that little outpost that gets overrun later on (city on an island in US I think it was, H something?). I've got 12 FPS there and my GPU is wondering if it shouldn't throttle back on it's frequency ... with no enemies even close. OK, I'm just guessing all the AI is being tracked/used on the whole field ... then why do I only have 25-30 FPS on a MP game on a dedicated server? (Oh well, at least that's pretty playable, not really the point though). Imo the game is too extensive for it's own good, imo AI shouldn't be modeled realistic when it's further then 30-50miles/km orso. It doesn't make sense (unless there is room for it.) And then there are quad-cores, surely they will be able to compute all that AI data for some decent FPS? NO!! They hardly get to 50% per core, and still have a crappy FPS. Conclusion: Way too much, too bad. It's like Crysis in a SIM sense (read: badly programmed/optimized). Oh yeah: make a 64bit executable: the continues loading is terrible/annoying. Most peeps have 4GB these days anyway. Imo it doesn't even need optimizing, just more textures into ram! (How come it only loads 1.5GB anyway, could at least max it imo.) Also sig offcourse! ;)

    FPS isn't everything...

Not everyone has a quad-core ... and even on quad-cores performance doesn't seem to be that scaleble. At least campaign doesn't, what I've read the problematic fps has mostly to do with the buildings in a city/big town. I've got a decent setup (listed below), more than listed as recommended at least ... an it doesn't really matter what I do (graphic wise, 500 miles, all low ... or all Very High with 3.000+ miles ... 5 fps difference at best, not even avg). Untill the 5th mission orso (Razer 2, when you get heli support), I had a minimum of 30 FPS (weirdly enough, very playable, experience says 45+ orso). There, I get 15 though ... I can hardly move around the base, let alone fight. It doesn't even seem to be the AI, but more all the (possible to) destructible buildings in the area. Now I'm not much of a game programmer, but I HAVE been following alot of "these bloatware topics". Imo: all these buildings are bloatware: they're being watched ALL the time while not even being in "the slightest of danger". Once "in the wilderness"/out ot town, I've got about 30-40+ FPS...which is very playable with this game. So, imo: it isn't just the AI ... it's the towns/buildings. Offcourse I can be wrong, but imo 180+ trees should put more drain on a GPU than watching to the sky/ground (while in a town/city) on a CPU (with running AI etc). The game seems to be quite fine in general, being a SIM; it's really playable with 25+ FPS (prev 30+ offcourse) ... but 15 in campaign :? without even a real good reason? Imo that should be fixed, it's killing this game and there isn't even a good reason for it. If it's the AI, then why is the FPS 30+ out of big towns/cities? System: x2 6400+, 4GB, 4890 1Ghz/1Ghz/1GB, 2x640GB RAID stripe, 1440x900.
  3. Probably not interesting, but did you OC your CPU? Most CPU-intensive programs/games give more errors then a simply CPU-crunch does, becaue latter get's cached. All in all, games are the worst you're computer can face: It needs a lot of everything. If not: check your case-circulation, I've worked ages on an old computer of mine, untill it got really hot and eventually fried the north-bridge. Also might want to try and download the latest Direct-X from the MS site, if install gives problem, get the redistribution-file ... it doesn't need extra downloads, since most likely your firewall was blocking previous attempt.
