  1. I'm using 'reportingIP="arma2pc.master.gamespy.com" - This seems to be working/showing within the browser list. I was using 'reportingIP="master.gamespy.com" but this stopped showing the server within the Server Brower List. master.gamespy.com = 207.38.11.174 armedass.master.gamespy.com = 207.38.11.174 arma2pc.master.gamespy.com = 207.38.11.182 (IP is different from the 2 above)
  2. For those wanting to see the type of gameplay style utilised by VCB I recommend gaming with us on a VCB Open Night on Tuesday 1st September. More information can be found here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=84269 (The title of this thread states the 25th August - This is now incorrect as the date has been pushed back to Tuesday 1st September @ 7PM GMT (UK))

TrackIR 5, what do you think?

You lot are teasing me - I want to purchase this but I'm waiting on attaching my other 2 * 24" monitors (for a total of 3), but then I'm also waiting on purchasing components for a new machine.
  4. If you enjoyed the immersion over on the TG servers then I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience on the Volcbat servers - I know I'm certainly enjoying the gaming experiences here :)

Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

I can confirm that my Steam version of ARMA II is currently downloading an update of some sort. I currently have the latest patch (v1.03) installed already. *** Added after posting *** As already indicated in the thread the update was based on the following (pulled from the Steam page) --- ArmA 2 Update Released August 14, 2009, 5:55 pm - Valve - Product Update Updates to ArmA 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include: ArmA 2 Fixed an objective impossible to complete in the campaign mission Badlands ---
  7. I feel ARMA II runs smoother on Windows 7 x64 RTM via MSDN than Vista Ultimate x64 (I had an issue with ARAM II and Vista after a short while which I couldn't resolve). I've not had a single problem (touch wood) with ARMA II & Windows 7.

Pagefile tweak = much improved FPS

I believe it will be better to be put on a separate physical disk, and not another parition of a 'same' disk. So it'll be better to have at least 2 physical disks.

Pagefile tweak = much improved FPS

I can't say if moving my pagefile helped as I've recently done a total reinstall, but to make the changes you've requested on Windows 7, I did this... > Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System > System Properties > Advanced > Setting (under the Performance area) > Advanced > Change (under the Virtual Memory section)... ... Uncheck 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives' > Select the drive letter of the partition you WANT the pagefile to exist > Select the option to 'system managed size' or 'custom' if you want to customise the size of the pagefile > select the original drive letter (usually C:\), and select 'No paging file' This path may vary very slightly on XP and/or Vista (but it'll be within the 'System' area) If you reselect the 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives' I believe it'll recreate a pagefile to the OS drive (usually C:\)

Pagefile tweak = much improved FPS

I've got something similair, as I've recently reinstalled my system 3 HDD's (C:\ = OS + Apps, D:\ = Data, E:\ = Spare/Backup) I've Windows 7 RTM (7600) installed with the pagefile on my E:\ (Backup/Spare drive) The game defaintely seems to run alot better for me since the reinstall (have used Vista x64 and Win7 x64 RC1 (7100) previously) and using the latest ARMA II patch. (Also running all the latest drivers + updates for my system) Specs: Intel Core2 Duo E660 @ 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, nVidia 8800 GTS 512MB), Win7 RTM x64, (2 x Segate 500GB HDD's (OS+APPS, DATA) , 1 * Seagate 250GB HDD (Backup/Spare) *added after posting* I also quite regularly defrag all my drives (using the standard Windows Defrag)
  11. I have my Video Memory setting to 'Very High' and haven't yet noticed any 'out of memory' errors (specs in my sig).
  12. For those with performance issues using these drivers are you also using nHancer? I only ask as these drivers contain a SLI profile/fix - I wonder whether using these drivers and nHancer at the same time causes a performance issue?!

Download these FREE PhysX and CUDA applications now! •Supports GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring by installing NVIDIA System Tools software.
  14. I believe the 190.38 has a SLI profile/fix included for ARAM II so nhancer shouldn't need to be used. To confirm that just review the 'readme' from the nVidia 190.38 drivers.
  15. I would suspect the developers have access to Microsoft MSDN which would give them access across all the MS Operating Systems (including Windows 7).
  16. I've not found an issue using Windows 7 64-bit RC1 (Build 7100) and ARMA II (I use the STEAM version). I do encounter crashing to desktop every so often (Multiplayer), which I try to report on the Community Bug Tracker with the required files requested. I was using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit before I installed Windows 7 but encountered a D9D Error which I've seen other users also recieve (wasn't able to get a working solution to mine, hence why I tried Windows 7 - Which also feels smoother and faster)

Steam not letting me run Arma2

Do you have proof as to your statement on the comparisions of 'pirate' copies vs legitimate copies. I can't provide figures but I can assure you that there are usually more 'pirated/cracked' version in use than legitimate versions. OP: Sorry for going off-topic but I wanted to respond to this particular post.
  18. I'm more of less in the same boat as yourself, but more into 'co-op' MP at the moment (mainly because I'm still becoming accustom to ARMA II). Feel free to add me on STEAM (if you use it) - 'paul_londonlad'
  19. I've noticed similair experiences - Not across all servers (e.g. [RIP]) but have sone on others (e.g. 1PARA).

New players need a detailed manual!

You've hit the nail on the head for me. I'm new to ARMA II (not FPS's in general) but I'm lost with most of the functions within the game.

New players need a detailed manual!

That Biki Wiki Manual is great - Thanks for the URL. I'm now figuring out how to do certain things that I wanted to do but wasn't able to, as I had no clue as to how to do it (also too ashamed to ask on the MP servers) :D

    Best servers to find mature/teamwork?

I've just started out with ARMA II and have gamed on the [RIP] servers a couple of times - All experiences have been great with 1 session (Sunday 5th July 09) one of my better experiences at great Teamwork. I'll definately be returning to the RIP servers but will also try some of the others mentioned within this thread :)
