cause they delete posts and ban and censoruser have no idea, user takes marketing for truth
and their ban only caused me to write on some forums "buy Arma2 if you want mil-sim type of gaming, there is free content (addons), there is better mission editor, there is no 3 soldiers to order limit, there is no max 63 other AI limit" etc. etc.
maybe someone will check links i am giving to people (BIS forum, Armaholic, other websites) to check what is game Arma :)
I got banned yesterday after I replied to a post about the Xfire/steam game stats for the game saying I was glad I quit after 3 hours. Some fanboy came on flaming me for it and I told him to cling to his sinking ship.
I got banned by viiiper, he didn't.
Not that I give a crap.

I played DR for like 3 hours on the day of release and haven't touched it since.
I predicted then it would be dead within a month or so.
I saw a post on their forums today linking the xfire stats of the game and I couldn't help but laugh a little.
Notice a trend here?

They just nailed the coffin shut for sure.

I hope everyone actually follows through and boycotts this POS.

Very rare around here. Again, just a commentary based on what I have seen around here before.Yea, I know. That rolleyes wasn't directed at you.

Hmmmm. Maybe it has been open because it is funny? :P i laughed so hard when i first time saw it :)Well judging by closed threads it only matters WHO it is funny to in regards to closure.:p

Reminds me of Weekend at Bernies.

Never said I didn't like it. I was merely wondering how something as random as this has stayed open so long when a lot of other similar topics have been shut.Yea, heaven forbid an OFF TOPIC thread actually remain open in the off topic section.

Game is running great for me since I upgraded my rig.
However I agree with the OP that the hardware specs for this game were mis-stated. I don't know whether that was intentional or not, but anyway. I got alot of my squadmates to play this game initially that had the "recommended specs" and out of about 12 guys only 1 still plays it. The others gave up within a week of trying to get it to run right. I myself had to tweak forever and spend alot of cash to get it to run right and I was above the recommended specs to begin with.

COD multiplayer has always been a big turd anyway. With it's tiny maps, spawn manipulation/camping and twitch shooting gameplay. For me it has been a decent SP experience and I only play MP because alot of my friends do and even then I can only stomach it for a few weeks or so.
That said, the fact that this is the second major title in 2 weeks that has opted to piss on PC gamers is disheartening. I won't even be buying this game for the single player if they don't give us some dedi-servers.

This thread is EPIC!
I lost track back at page 80 something and have only skimmed over the rest but it goes down as one of the best I have seen on these forums in my short time here.

Been using Firefox for years but I've been using chrome for a couple months now and I'm liking it alot so far.

Now they charge as much, if not more, than high-street retail, where you get the disc, manual and box. Then you have to wait at their convenience for patches, while everyone else is down-loading them elsewhere a week earlier.
.
Really? I mean if you don't like digital download that's your right, but don't say stuff that isn't true.
I have never had to wait a week on any patch. The longest I have waited was a day.

I don't know anything about international DD.
All my experiences have been in the US with steam and D2D and I am more than happy with their services.
Hell most stores don't even carry but a few PC games anyway. And most of those have been collecting dust for years.
-
I love digital download as well.
I've been using digital distribution for a couple years now. Every game I own has been purchased through either steam or D2D of which I probably have 60-70 titles.
I have unistalled and re-installed many of them time and again and I have never had 1 problem with steam or D2D.
I prefer steam because games patch automatically, but D2D has been a pretty good service overall.
The only issue I have ever had on any game was getting a patch for Frontlines on D2D and then it was resolved in 48 hours.
I'm sold on digital distribution. Nothing better IMO.
You guys can keep the disks.

I just saw a post in the CM forums from -Sion Lenton (Exec Producer)-OPDR that to me says it all.
Here is a quote from his message:
"The team have been eagerly reading the reviews and all your feedback on the forums and we’ve been very pleased with how the games been received, especially by console users. One of my main goals on this project was to introduce console gamers to this genre and get them excited about the possibilities of actually having to think about their actions in combat."

Consider the source. Charlie is an anti-Nvidia pro ATI posterboy.
Nvidia does not abandon mid and high end market
Many reading this may have heard of newshound Charlie Demerjian who was a writer on well known UK news 'gossip' site The Inquirer. For the last few years the majority of his news articles have focused exclusively on Nvidia, detailing their apparent wrongdoings and failures in a variety of areas.
Today I received a few emails from our readers asking if I knew anything about this article on his interestingly entitled site Semi Accurate.
In this diatribe Charlie writes "NVIDIA IS KILLING the GTX260, GTX275, and GTX285 with the GTX295 almost assured to follow as it (Nvidia: NVDA) abandons the high and mid range graphics card market. Due to a massive series of engineering failures, nearly all of the company's product line is financially under water, and mismanagement seems to be killing the company."
Charlie also goes on to say : "With the cancellation of the GTX285, GTX275, and GTX260, possibly the GTX295 too, Nvidia is abandoning the entire high end and mid-range graphics market. Expect a reprise in January on the low end. The company is badly mismanaged and hated by the very partners it needs to throw it a life preserver."
These are obviously rather bold claims indeed and I decided to give Nvidia a call this afternoon to get their feedback on the aforementioned claims. An Nvidia spokesperson told me "There is no truth to this. Charlie has become a sponsored site of his sole advertiser. Look at his website it looks like an AMD ad." Nvidia also assured me with a chuckle that they are not 'abandoning the mid or high end markets'.
Obviously every company can put a 'spin' on anything they feel is relevant so I decided to call a few of Nvidia's partners to get their feedback on supply and demand - a few of them said they have quite low supplies of GTX285 and GTX295. This however can not be simply interpreted as a 'worrying' issue for Nvidia users because as many of our readers will know they actually have a new range of cards out very shortly to compete against the current range of DX11 boards from AMD - therefore it makes sense for them to start putting all of their focus into the upcoming range of hardware.
In industry circles it is very apparent that Charlie is venomously 'anti Nvidia' however I think we can safely assume that Nvidia won't be abandoning the mid or high end market anytime soon. As for the fate of the current range of cards, many leading UK stores such as Overclockers and Ebuyer have reasonably healthy supplies of the current Nvidia range - actually much on a par with ATI.

What is shame, that most of you saying that game is bad, but still you bought or preordered game. In fact you say to publishers let do that again, again promise things that are not technically possible, lay and steal ideas, make renders and photoshoped sshots. If players ask why games look today as they look, its because that. Because lot of people are able to buy, preorder just because PR and previews at magazines that are dependend on advertising sales. Its sad, where game industry going :(I wouldn't have bought it had I been able to play a demo first.
All in all for consoles it's probably an epic play. But for PC gamers it is mediocre at best.

Bought it last night and I'm not overly impressed.
FP looks almost identical to COD 4 graphics. I don't know what happened with those pre-release videos but I have this game maxxed to the ...........um max and while decent looking it is nothing special at all. Arma has better textures, effects, environment etc. Winner= ARMA II by a long shot.
FYI I get 30-70 fps on ARMA II with all settings on Very High 1680 x 1050. With FP I get 100-150FPS maxxed out.
FP controls are extremely console-fied (if that is even a word) in respect to issuing commands. Very clunky interface. However, ARMA II isn't much better and it's set up for a PC.
No lean and no TRACKIR SUPPORT!
Guns are laser like. ZERO sniper drift. I just finished an entire co-op map with sniper rifle and I could literally sprint for several hundred feet, stop and zero right on the head of an enemy at 300+ meters and drop him EVERY TIME. ZERO movement in the scope and bullet drop is very miniscule.
Kits are non-existent from what I can see. You get a pre-determined loadout and your stuck with it. Though I did get a scar with a thermal scope that was sweet.
FP movement seems very slow. Sprint seems like walk and walk seems like crawl. Kinda frustrating.
AI? My AI did exactly what I told them every time and were an asset, so in that respect the FP AI seem better to me than ARMAII.
Online FP..................I just have to put a ? for what online. No dedicated servers? Only 4 player hosted servers that I see atm, and most of those are playing campaign co-op. I see no real online to speak of ATM. Supposedly 16 v 16 max games with 3 gametypes though I haven't seen 1 yet.
So far IMHO Arma II blows FP DR out of the water in terms of gameplay, graphics and options. However, 99% of my squadmates quit playing ARMA II because of all the issues getting it to run on their rigs properly. They just gave up. So DR offers them a similar experience with less issues, albiet the graphics are very dumbed down.
All in all to me FP DR feels like a very very dumbed down, stripped down, noobified version of ARMA II.
FP is much easier to play. I was gaming and owning within 5 minutes of install with zero issues. It is very hardware friendly and it should be with the ho hum graphics and would cater to casual players who don't have the time or patience for ARMA II which unfortunately is alot of players.

Delta Force 2 was revolutionary. The first real tactical shooter in my eyes, how one shot could kill you....Still waiting for the proper remake of DF2, hopefully DF:AF will be it..
After seeing the crap Novalogic tried to pull with DFX:2 I wouldn't pay 1 red cent for any of their crap.
Been a fan of JO forever, but they really ruined themselves with their latest stunt.

I've now been kicked twice for doing it. Didn't mean to, just I spawned in the arse-end of nowhere (for the umpteenth time), and being a bit tired of jogging over three klicks to get where the action was I jumped at the chance of a ride. "Siggi, DON'T MOVE THE HQ!!!" Do what? Kicked. Go back in, apologise, offer to move it back under cover, no answer..
When you spawn at the mobile HQ you have to hoof it, or go to the HQ menu and have it spawn you a bike or motorcycle.
There are only 2 HQ's in the game and when you get it too close to the zone it gets blown up and no one can spawn until someone is able to fly in with a wreck chopper and haul it back to base for repairs. Thats why they don't want you to move it. Yes I know it is usually a long way from the zone, but you would be surprised how quick and easy the AI can take it out without getting all the way there.

I'm talking about the chip, not the chassis and Demerijian is a known ATI fanboy whether his article is factual or not.
Eth
Yea, he is very ATI biased.
It was a poor decision on Nvidia's part though to show a card and present it as a ready to run model when it really wasn't. Gives the ATI fanboys too much reason to cheer for what it's worth.
That said, I have zero doubt that the Fermi GPu specs they released aren't accurate. I also have zero doubt that they have one running like they stated. They should have just showed the demos and not the card.
-
Nvidia is claiming it is a Fermi chip (I wont comment on the chassis) and I can't really see their CEO standing up with a fake chip. If he did and it is actually fake, he's a jackass but your "article" is written by a well known ATI fanboy so I'll take it with a pinch of salt.Eth
See my post above.
Apparently the specs released of the Fermi GPU are real and it is running and was running at the convention. It's just not presentable at the moment.

Nvidia just sounded off about this.

Fermi Tesla board is a mock-up

Nvidia confirms
Fermi that was running PhysX at Jensen's GTC keynote was real but the one that we all took pictures of was a mock-up.
The real engineering sample card is full of dangling wires. Basically, it looks like an octopus of modules and wires and the top brass at Nvidia didn't want to give that thing to Jensen. This was confirmed today by a top Nvidia VP president class chap, but the same person did confirm that the card is real and that it does exist.
Charlie was surely right about this one here. The card that Jensen showed and we all pictured is not a working sample. Some key people at Nvidia have promised to show us the picture of the real one. Stay tuned.

Nvidia finally showcased the 300 series called Fermi today.
