    I love multicam. Use it in airsoft matches all the time. It is by far better than anything else I have seen in the fields where I play. (Southern US woodland)

    PS: All the jabs at airsoft in this thread are silly. Just because airsofters use it doesn't mean it isn't good. We "airsoft kiddies" (I am in my 30's btw) wear every kind of camo known to man. Even Period stuff from WWI II etc. Does that make all the other camo lame?

    Try running the 1.05 patch then the hotfix again, on top of the current installation

    I completely uninstalled and re-installed. Then i applied only the patch and hopped in game.

    I really have no idea what is happening but it has something to do with my graphics cards I think.

    Before I could run this game with everything on very high 1680 x 1050 with good FPS.

    Now if I turn everything up I get single digit FPS.

    If I turn everything to normal, with PP off I only get like 35 fps. Just turning shadows up makes my fps go into the teens.

    In any case, I'm kinda at a loss now. I wish the game still had arma mark so I could run some tests with that to compare against what I used to get.

    I'm pretty skeptical using real life as a playing field for airsoft. And how about eye protection?

    With that said, interesting concept, to say it the least.

    The places I play are private land. No worries about law shooing you. And as far as eye protection goes every place I have played requires a special rated goggle that is fully sealed. No eyeglasses or shooting glasses permitted.

    Just to be safe I test my goggles point blank when I get new pairs.

    I sub a guy on you tube that has tons and tons of airsoft vids.

    Their Euro's and some of them use dodgy eye protection IMO, but he has a lot of really cool videos.

    Beat it already. It was a worthy sucessor.

    During the ending I lost jack. Then I played again and didn't lose anyone. I played the ending both ways to see what happened as well.

    ok i'm getting quite huge spike in these reports

    Symptoms:

    ARMA 2 1.05 after start fails to work either instantly or will CTD (crash to desktop) out of menu before background animation

    So far tracked down to these related details:

    1. STEAM ARMA 2 with 1.04

    2. manual update to 1.05 (+ hotfix doesn't matter)

    3. update 1.05 to latest beta (again doesn't matter)

    4. everyone with Windows 7 64bit (not sure if i ever saw 32bit one)

    5. so evidently any GPU model / brand

    6. running arma2.exe w/o STEAM (doesnt matter)

    Questions:

    ICE-Raver may i ask what driver build You have and when You installed latest drivers ?

    since when this is happening ? (ideally exact date) and if 1.05 worked once or never at all?

    also do You have installed KB977074 (Windows 7 reliability update from approx week ago ?)

    tried start game in windowed mode not just fullscreen ? (arma2.exe -window)

    tried start game with -winxp commandline switch ? (arma2.exe -winxp)

    I'm using Nvidia 196.21 drivers and I installed them a couple of weeks ago.

    The problem only started last night. I played the game some as 1.04 last night and everything ran good. Then I installed the patch and the problems began.

    I don't know about the W7 Reliability update. I don't remember ever installing that.

    I have not tried windowed mode.

    I have not tried any switches.

    Also, did you get any errors during the installation?

    I initially downloaded a torrent of the 1.05 patch and it corrupted my install, so I downloaded a non-torrent version, verified integrity of local cache in steam, and installed the next patch. It had errors when I installed it so I installed the same patch again and it changed some other files (must have partially aborted the install automatically) and showed some Xdelta errors for the other files that basically state that those files don't need patching, installed a 3rd time to be sure but nothing changed the 3rd time and game runs perfect now.

    I did get an error but not during the patch install. When I tried to install the hotfix for the mission it basically froze up when I tried to install that. I ended the task with task manager and put the file in Arma 2 directory manually.

    What are the hotkeys for both programs? It is possible that you are deactivating one or the other when you use a hotkey. I had to change mine to get what I wanted.

    LOL. I just noticed that pause on trackir is default F9 which is the same key for start/stop record on fraps. facepalm

    Here are a few pics of a milsim event that I attended at Ft. Hood Texas recently.

    It used 2 of the 3 Ft. Hood MOUT sites for play. They are basically mock versions of middle eastern towns.

    It is a Lions Claws event called Operation Bulldog IV.

    You can check them out on you tube. Bulldog and Irene are the big ones.

    Can an airsofter explain to me the need to dress up in camo, and sew SAS/Delta/whatever tags to thier uniform? I'm assuming it's a minority within the sport?

    I mean, it doesn't make you any better at airsoft, surely it's pointless and walty? Or is half the fun in pretending you're a soldier? Whats the mindset?

    Myself, if I were to ever do it (unlikely), i'd rock up in jeans, T shirt, and maybe wearing my webbing (gotta carry mags somewhere I suppose). But seeing people with unearnt para wings, royal marine flashes, SAS capbadges etc sewn onto thier uniform makes my blood boil. Especially when they say something like "well I play with an ex Para and...." ...So what, doesn't make you one, does it? Aside from that I don't like DPM being made to look crap. tounge2.gif But that goes for anyone wink_o.gif

    It is a general rule by all respectable airsofters that you DO NOT WEAR insiginias or ranks that you did not earn.

    If you do and you play at events that I attend there is a good chance that you will get called out on it in front of everyone.

    Anyway... I have better performance with 1.05 and so does those i know. That should be since perfomance was a thing that was updated in that patch. I would check if there is anything else doing this to your game.

    No, my point was only that I haven't changed anything hardware wise and I am still running the same OS.

    Hardware: i7920 @ 3.8, 6 gig ddr3 1600, x58 mobo, dual gtx 280's and W7 64.

    My arma 2 is a steam app. I found the patch on the thread in the general forums and downloaded the torrents 1&2 extracted and installed. Then there was a hotfix for some mission that I downloaded as well.

    My guess is that something went wrong and I just need to completely uninstall and start again.

    I haven't played Arma 2 since the 1.05 patch came out but tonight I decided to dust it off.

    Last time I played the game I was getting Arma mark scores between 7000-8000 and now I can't even load the menu hardly.

    Just on the menu screen I get like 2 fps and it stutters constantly. I ran the new benchmarks and got 25fps on the first and 20 fps on the second which seems way off base compared to arma mark. Then when you go back to the loading screen everything is almost frozen.

    Anyway, I don't know what's going on and tbh I don't feel like spending months trying to figure it out like I did when arma 2 first came out.

    If anyone has suggestions let me know.

    PS: My system is exactly the same as it was last time I played. All I did was install the patch.

    I was wondering if anyone had any idea why when I record with fraps it disables my trackir 5?

    As soon as I start record trackir stops and my view is straight ahead only. When I stop record trackir works again.

    I was trying to record some vids tonight and I'm a bit baffled.

    I've been playing this game since day one and TBH I really enjoy it.

    Obviously it's kinda arcadish but it's still fun. I do miss my trackir and the Arma 2 aircraft very bad.

    Unfortunately my whole squad has pretty much taken to this new title. I tried and tried to get them to play arma 2 but only 1 or 2 really liked it due to performance issues, learning curve etc etc.

    In my opinion Arma 2 is a far superior game I just wish it had a bigger fanbase.

    one of the main problems now is that criminals will carry some sort of weapon, be it a knife, screwdriver, club or in some cases a gun. all of which are pretty leathal in the wrong hands.

    any one of these idiots could enter a house and demand what they want. yet the home owner is reletively powerless against such thugs and have to rely on a response time of the police.

    the old couple that were brutally murdered in thier own home over a few quid, this couple may have served at some point in WW2 to defend the country from nazi invasion, and are killed by some thugs that they insured a free life for.

    if however the elderly man was able to bear arms then he may have be able to defend himself and wife from such a brutal and viscious death.

    but then again its the point of where we draw the line? i believe people like the old couple should have this ability, especially being so frail that they can't physically fend of such thugs. so fending from a distance is not really an option.

    the farmer who was tired of people breaking into his property took the law into his own hands. unfortunately the 2nd one he shot was runnig down the lane, even in the states that is a big no and constitutes as premeditated murder. but he was strong enough to fend people off by hand. so again this is a thin line between right and wrong.

    in these cases, once the attacker is in the house then its a potential deadly threat. where as off the house threshold the danger has passed so the police should take over from there on in.

    there is part of the law that says you can use whatever force possible if an intruder enters your sleepin area (bedroom) at night. but this rarely happens. it should be if an intruder breaks the threshold period.

    Where I live in the US we have a castle law that basically gives us the right to defend our homes with any means necessary.

    I also live in a right to carry state. Meaning I can go down to the local gun store, do some concealed carry classes and get a license to carry a firearm on me all the time. There are lots of places where you can't take your gun obviously, but overall it's a good system and deters alot of crime since you never know who is packing heat and who isn't.

    Nah, I just think modern society has lost it's mind with all the petty bickering. With no new land to be discovered on Earth and people multiplying like rabbits I expect it to only get worse. I feel like humanity is a powder keg getting ready to explode. I'd love to leave all this nonsense behind and make a fresh start where there aren't as many lunatics.

    i always thought that the weapons are for the guys who have nothing in their pants. In the civil society we don't need guns. and of course guns are not toys but lethal objects

    OK. I must say this: If I have insulted any Americans here. I'm sorry.

    Rest of the world must not dump all the shit and blame to U.S.

    I mean: Hey. You helped Europe to beat Hitler. That was great.

    With your military might you can show the terrorists who is who around here.

    We have to hope that society learns to adapt and make it self better.

    I saw this one document which is saying: Oil is running out and we ALREADY see the effects of it. One simple advice to America: Get rid of your gas eating cars and start to use more economic cars dammit! I think Saudis play here a great role. They should stop selling oil into America and we see that happens next. Document also says this: America is using more oil it can produce. Somebody says that America is buying over 80 million barrels of oil in ONE DAY.

    Somebody said that we need cars and car users because with car taxes society keeps many important services running.

    The servers used for you to chastise America on internet forums and play Arma 2 use more energy than my wifes VW Jetta does.

    So instead of sitting there criticizing the USA why don't you get off the computer if you are so concerned.

    I realize the size of the US is hard to fathom for some people in Europe, but before you criticize that we use more resources than you please take the time to research and compare apples to apples.

    Furthermore why is everyone on the USA's back? China, Inda and Russia are right there with us and China for one is set to surpass our oil use by a long shot in the future.

    I had to do a big job in Texas a few years ago and my company was based out of Harwich GB. They sent a bunch of engineers over for the job for about a month and the first thing they wanted to do was have me take them to a gun range on their free time.

    We spent at least one day a week letting those fools shoot guns at Big Johns Shooting Range. They couldn't get enough. Big John even brought out some special stuff for them to shoot. Like kids in a candy store.:D
