Problem is lots of companies release games before they are "ready" due to pressure from the market, and mainly of course either competition or the publishers deadlines.

Funny thing that that the forums and all the threads that reports problems always gets a "it works fine for me, stop complaining" post/reply. What´s really up with that?It should be clear to everyone now that the game is released in a far from ready state. If you buy a product that is presented as a finished game, the game should be finished. Pretty clear I think. I did not pay for a beta product nor to be a beta tester. I payed for a working game. As a consumer I have, and should have the right to expect high standards and be able to complain if these "de facto" standards are not beeing met. As in this case.
My point is that BiS should admit that they have quality issues with their product and that they should communicate it open and clear to their customers whilst presenting a plan of action with an expected timeframe for the the completion of appropriate actions (the miracle patch wich takes the game from Beta to Alpha status ;) ). That would be a respectful gestrure to their customers. Sticking the head in the sand is not.
Completely agree with you here, problem is though that this is EXTREMELY rare when it comes to the general underhanded tactics of software providers.

I get pretty poor performance as well, GTX 295, Q6600 @ 2.7 ghz, 6gb ddr2-800. Only scores an 1800 arma2mark, around 25 fps in game no matter what I do. found tweaking with nhancer to be the best route for me, but still much to be desired. Even alot of ppl with i7s are having issues.Darn shame, hope for a fix.

hmm ... I've not got the machines you guys do, and I don't run in SLI (need to run 2 monitors), yet my BFG 8800 GTX OC runs at 30 to 40 on average at very high settings. I am running an old driver, maybe that is it... weird though.quad core Intel, 64bit Vista, 4 Gig of RAM 1680X1050 in windowed mode.
Whaat really? That's extremely strange. P.S: Why would SLI deter you from running 2 monitors? Funny thing is I'm noticing when I have my dualview turned on, and desktop expanded to my other monitor and I'm running games, they seem to crash while using SLI, reboot my pc. At least with 182.5's.
Of course your resolution is also lower, but that's still quite the jump in fps... Weird.
-
Pretty sure SLI is working as per the charts/graph... It's moving and its almost 80% filled usually. Also am using the -winxp thing, and tried pretty much everything lol, quite unfortunate think they'll patch it?
-
Hi fellas, I'm just wondering if this sounds normal.
I have a Q9550 @ 3.4ghz,
8 Gigs of 1066 DDR2 memory
BFG GtX295 running in SLI (verified)
The game settings are 1920x1200
All Very High, except memory on -default and antialiasing on low.
I get about 20-25 FPS on the first campaign.....
Seems exceptionally low for GTX295 SLI NO?
Oh and im running Vista 64 with 182.5's

I think what he is saying is his friend HAS a legal copy and was having all kinds of problems, tried a pirate copy and bar the multiplayer aspect the game runs fine.I dont think its advertising piracy at all, it's a constructive post if you ask me. Obviosly there is something that needs adressing with the retail copy
I concur and it raises a very valid concern regarding the copy protection possibly causing issues
-
Thanks guys, this has been driving me insane... I uninstalled and reinstalled nhancer + drivers and it seems to have fixed it...
Is there anyway I can tell if SLI is being used or not, without using load graph in nhancer?
I'm almost thinking I get much better FPS without SLI then with.
-
This is driving me INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First constant reboots and crashes, then impossible to get the bloody thing to recognize texture memory, then impossible to get it to run SLI properly now the bloody thing won't even OPEN! I get an "error starting direct 3d 9 engine" error... I've tried removing Nhancer, nothing is working.
I'm about to freaking LOSE it... Who coded this piece of absolute JUNK.
-
I did prime95, p.s: I finally got SLI to work I turned on the load bearing graph and all is good, and my computer hasnt been rebooting after I upped my north bridge vcore... but we'll see.
Problem now is NOTHING I do seems to turn off the load bearing graph, even if I click to have it off in Nhancer haaaaa
-
Our problem solving skills seem to be exercised.. lol thanks arma2 and gtx295 and vista and all of you that help me pull my hair out.
-
Smells like a PSU issue man. I had that before running an SLI setup with a 500W and got the mid game reboots. I stepped up to a 700W and they went away. Maybe try a different rail? Maybe the PSU is poor quality or defective?Just shooting at the less obvious issues.
Yeah I'm considering that I just don't want to spend another 300 bucks neadlesly, I have an Antec 850watt, should be good. I could try the 2 other rails , that's not a half bad a idea really..
Do you know how to enable load balancing graph? when I do I can't seem to see anything in game
-
My overclock is stable, anyway I just pushed up my northbridge voltage slightly and tried arma 2 again, this time played for a good 30-45m without reboot which was surprising. More testing required...
However I also checked off the "load balancing graph" in nhancer, and I"m not sure if that might have changed something.
I didn't see any sort of graph in game though, how do I know whether it's using SLI or not?? :)

This is also happening to me and is extremely frustrating, I'm getting a freeze with sound still going which is rebooting my pc.... I tried stock speed for my CPU and although it took a little longer it still did it.
GTX295/Q9550 @ 3.4ghz/8gigs of ram/Vista64
Let me add that I actually have dual monitors and have been monitoring my temps while playing the game, temps seem fine both for my cpu and gpu. I've tried case open and fan ramped up, and It didn't seem to help much.
-
Well I can't figure this out, I just got the card and I'm trying to figure out whether it's my drivers whether I need a clean Vista64 install (would hate to do that again), whether its my PSU or what it is.
Basically all was fine, when I ad my 8800GTS 512 with this RIG, until I got the BFG GTX295, I'm using the 182.5 Vista64 drivers as they seem to be the only ones that detect and run my arma-2 textures and 8gigs of ram + GPU ram correctly...
Thing is, when I am in game, if I vigorously move my mouse around (looking around everywhere) my computer will freeze up, with sound still playing and reboot... It's driving me insane.
Q9950 - OC'd @ 3.6 (going to try stock speeds now)
8 Gigs of Ram 1066mhz DDR2
Rampage Formula
Vista 64
Steam Arma
182.5 drivers Nvidia (GTX295)
Antec True power 850 PSU (more than enough, with 8pin pci-e connectors)
This is really annoying me.... :( :(

Alright, updated BIOS and tried stock speed... I was delighted and thought finally it wasn't crashing (no matter how fast I was moving about and around).. Then about 5-10m into the game, BOOM reboots my computer... Eghrrrrmmm.
Last thing I'm going to try and do is take out some of my HDD"s to see if my (5) sata drives might be juicing the 850watt power supply a little much!? although unlikely.
Maybe it's a bad card? I just got it this weekend and maybe need an RMA...
-
I am having this issue as well, I am using an ANTEC TruePower 850watt, so I thought it was a good quality one, I'm actually considering upgrading to a corsair 1000watt, heard good things about that power supply.
My Arma2, seems to crash and cause a reboot every 5-15minutes.
Vista64
8 Gigs DDR2
BFG Gtx295
Rampage Formula + Q9550 @ 3.4 ghz
~ I'm going to test my temps today, maybe even try with box open... Also maybe try playing stock CPU.
-
I seem to have it running alright now, with AA off except for when I'm looking directly at any sort of foliage, then it comes down to a crawl. Of course it's always randomly crashing and rebooting my entire pc... I'm not sure whether this is my card that I need to RMA or what, but I need to do more testing.... This is taking up way too much time.
Q9550 + Rampage Formula @ 3.4ghz
8 Gigs of DDR2
BFG GTX295
Vista 64
Steam Arma2

Just for arguments sake, have you tried running with your current tweaks / settings etc but with the CPU @ stock. Also have a Q6600 I run 3.375 .
@ 3.4 I can be stable in prime for about 4-5 hours but it will crash A2 after some time.
Sorry its actually a Q9550 quad, very stable at 3.4 I can take it much higher :)
I have not attempted stock.
-
GTX295 here in V64 and 0 crashes / lockups. While the game may run on the low side for a 295 ... it still runs quite well on high settings with AA and 125% fillrate @ 1920.
How much ram do you have? I've also got a 295 and vista64 and its crash city now that I got it running with copius amounts of tweaking.
-
Well it seems I finally got it running, not sure how... but probably a mix of trying the rename trick, using -winxp, adjusting the memory in the .cfg file and using nhancer crysis profile.
However, now that the game is running relativelly well (except when a map loads up its chop city)
It crashes and reboots my computer after 5-10mins of playing...... Eghrrrrrr.... Really annoying.
-
Im also getting crashes except it crashes my whole computer and reboots me.
-
Appreciate the feedback will try it out, any ideas why my textures simply aren't loading though even with the -winxp trick? It's very strange.
-
Use search.Texture detail @ anything above normal is going to cause trouble as is AA @ Vhigh.
You can't just max everything and expect decent FPS mate.
182.50 drivers are best for A2 JFYI. I've tested the newer ones on several different rigs and have not enjoyed the results (and that's not restricted to A2)
Eth
FPS seem okay, but I get stutters.. Mainly though, the textures simply don't load. My system is pretty damn good, I should be able to play maxed without any issues.
-
I'm sure many of you are as frustrated as I, considering I spent well over $50 on a piece of software, and considering I just spent close to $700 on a video-card specifically for that peice of software to find out that it does not work.
My Specs:
Vista 64 + 8 gigs of ram
Rampage Formula, Q6600 Quad-core OC'd @ 3.4ghz
BFG Geforce GTX 295 + latest NV drivers
STEAM ARMA2,
I have tried making a shortcut with -winxp, and it does not seem to help.
I tried downloading the EVGA SLI util, I have tried renaming the shortcut to crysis64.
When I enter the game, it stutters, on top of this stutter the textures load extremely SLOWLY and then they do not fully load. 1/2 of them don't load and the other 1/2 look like they are extremely low quality.
I'm trying to play on VERY HIGH.. @ 1920....
Any ideas?!?
Extremely low FPS for my setup!? Is this normal

LOL, alright scratch that I'm actually getting like 15 even 10fps sometimes LOL!!! in the village.. and forest... this is insane.
