  1. I found it quite funny when i had to go into krastnostav to arrest the woman I parked the apc at the T junction when you arrive at the town, got out and found her, when i came back the doctors assistant (the female you talk to in the red car) turned up and was ramming the back end of the apc, continuously reversing and smashing into the back of it. So bohemia got something right, they sccessfully simulated realistic women drivers
  2. No problems it will usually take about 2 hours to do. And for everyone saying they can't find the leaders dead body I can only assume this is a bug or that an issue with the AI has caused him to flee the base at some point. But i did state that It may take a few attempts before completing it even if you did follow the guide word for word. So my only advice is to suck it up, get mission experience and keep trying. You may even find you can get through it faster each time you try it
  3. Tried installing it and it didnt work, I got loads of errors when trying to load up my arma 2 and i got no map editor, but i dont think it will help with scripts and triggers help which i originally posted about having in depth tutorials
  4. I am a keen video editor and 3D animator using programs such as 3ds max, poser adobe after effects etc... And basically when people want to learn a program there are countless tutorial DVDS with hours of content. So Is there anything like that for arma 2 mission editor? If not would someone be interested in putting one together? I have tried looking on youtube for video tutorials and yes there are a few but most are pretty much the same only explianing the basics, and when it comes to setting up tasks, planning airstrikes, deciding if your mission was completed or failed or even creating a mission briefing there are none or they dont explain very much. I have read the editor manual back to back and still made no sense of it, I think i speak for a few people on here that they can learn at double the pace if they was shown a visual representation of how to do it. If someone put together a thorough DVD that would answer most questions, then this editing area of the forum probably wouldnt be so congested and repeat questions may not always come up. Just an idea Dave
  5. i have exactly the same problem and the kegetys arma tools pbo thing does not work on my pc
  6. Is that like an add on for the editor which makes it easier to use, cos thats what it looks like
  7. This makes no sense to me at all Make a file where with what? in arma 2, on notepad?
  8. Right I have done what you asked but i am not sure how to set up a briefing I noticed you mentioned that about the tasks where do i do that?
  9. Thank you very much you have been a great help
  10. I now have a new problem I still cant seem to open any of them in editor because when select load it only selects the missions that i have edited myself, i think its in the user missions folder. I have tried putting other missions in different folders but cant seem to get any up
  11. Thanks. I have the unpbo file installed but i still cant open anything, i right click and get the Unzip pbo option but then i get the "unrecognised file type, get windows to search for the program" promt
  12. got it but cant find the red harvest campaign
  13. How do you set up campaigns? Reason i ask is becase when you go into editor you seem to set up a single mission, but how do you get it to continue on to another mission?
  14. Archamedes

    campaigns

thank you for the speedy response
  15. I don't know if anyone agrees or not but did you find Red Harvest too short and very limited? What I mean is, when operation flashpoint came out it had absolutly tons of missions and you kind of had the best of all roles. For example in flashpoint you played as Soldier, special ops, tank commander, helicopter pilot and even a plane pilot. However in red harvest you are ONLY special ops, and none of your men are allowed to die in order to complete missions. I liked the original idea of having up to 12 men that had different weapon styles and you had more than enough to seperate into teams and flank enemies. If some of your guys died then thats the sacrifice of war. However alough i find arma 2 awesome despite the bugs that need fixing SOON!!!! I find the campaign too short and too limited
  16. My manhatten walkthrough http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=79662
  17. Right I opened up the editor and very basically set up 2 units. a helicoper and player (pilot)how can i set the helicopter to be empty because everytime i preview there is always a pilot in it ready to go secondly how do you set up a radio airstrike (i need step by step for this one.)
  18. Does anyone know what happens if you choose to report the weapons cache in Gorka (manhatten mission) From being a sympathetic soldier i always choose to let the priest keep his weapons, and in later missions, you get more help from the civillians and generally made out to be the hero, but is there an alternative scenario for reporting the weapons?
  19. you dont actually have to wait for the back up they can take a while to get there, you should get radio confirmation that they are in place ready to attack and using the radio select boomerang and they advance, but as i said if you did the walkthrough as stated above you should still have the artillery in the menu, if not then reload or check its there when you start. Attackig the base is usually the last thing you want to do by that time boomerang would have finished their job
  20. Yes on occasion strange messages will come up. Coop called in that he cleared an enemy camp and i hadn't even seen one or moved in on one
  21. by following my guide you get to complete all the objectives, and alough people seem to be confused about the 6 sentry camps i have now completed this level 5 times and done it with the main base in different locations and to be honest i think its only 5 sentry camps and 1 main enemy base which counts up the 6 you need to destroy.
  22. As i said at the beginning there are a lot of bugs with this mission so it may take you multiple tries to complete it even if you do follow my route. I have successfully completed this mission 3 times by doing it in the order i described but this has also taken about 20 attempts in total trying all kinds of different routes. I also do the guide in this particular order to try and get around some of the bugs which cause it to be un endable for instance being able to use the artillery etc... I have also read from some people that the gunrunners occasionally vanish from the map completely after a certain amount of time so getting the previous objectives done quickly is important. Below is the map you have posted I have edited it for you. The yellow line shows the full route in which you will run into the gunrunners if the nemy base is located where it is on the map. The red line shows the gunrunners route if the enemy base is located by the dam. So it all depnds on where the base is will depend on where you find them. Now because i cant see the dam location on this map I cannot be definate for sure the red route is the road that follows along side the base if its next to the dam, but you will obviously know which road it is when you get that scenario but i think the red marked road is probably accurate.
  23. Right. Its the first time i have tried the mission editor ever and alough a little bit overwhelmed by it and not entirely sure what the outcome of some of the settings i have made I think that after a while i may get used to it, but its looking a bit frightening at the moment. Anyhow I do have a few questions 1. How can you set up a call in air strike on a town? For instance i have set up a few a-10 planes and obviously some enemy targets but how do you program the a-10's to be the units that are needed to bomb a city? 2. This has confused me a little, I have both my enemy squads and my player squads but how do you set up an actual mission task. For instance, rather than aimlessly wandering around a map, how can you set it up that in order to complete the mission you have to kill these enemy sodiers on grid refrence A and destroy a t-72 on grid refrence B? 3. I wont even bother in asking how you set up intros and outros just yet but this one will come later. I may have a few more questions later but for the moment these are actually my priority questions Edit: I just realised i have put this in the wrong forum (noticed the sticky just now.) Can someone move it for me please

    Short campaign

I already made a post about this

    Red Harvest too short?

I think my favourite missions in ofp where the night sabotage missions, where you would be a lone soldier who would sneak into an enemy camp leave a load of satchel charges all over the place, then sneak out to a safe high point away from the base detonating them before the enemy had an idea of what was happening, that and a few helicopter and a10 missions
