I agree, i also see a point to what you mean by teens, especially those who love the hollywood brainwashing. The fact of the matter is most of the teens playing are not educated or aware of who the enemy is or why they are fighting. Everyone knows there was a world war 2 but if you asked your average world of warcraft leech who the nazis were and why they were fighting, do you think they could give a positive answer? "they are evil people who murdered jews and killed lots of americans but we beat em."
-
I guess films are to blame as well, especially coming back to this thread now and seeing some of the other comments. Americans love to glamerise themselves in war films. WW2 especially I mean come on, there where lots of other countries in the war too fighting against the nazis and the japanese. The genre i love the most is the vietnam ones. Pretty much all Vietnam films I have seen always show the americans win the battles rather than the actually losing the war. I would love to see a british film based on the falklands or some of our own fights. Better still I would love to see a film from the talibans point of view. They are always considered evil but i guess good and bad is a point of view depending on who's side you are on. But yeah, lets see why they are so pissed or deluded into thinking their fight is justified. However i know that as soon as there is a scene of an american soldier being killed there will be a shitstorm because its perfectly ok to see "ragheads" being drilled but its unacceptable when the bullets fire the other way.

well it makes sense its a console game meant for consoles. the very first 3 splinter cells were only released on xbox then ps2 then after a few years finally pc.
-
Everyone is complaining about DRM Get it on xbox or PS3. Problem solved

So basically game developers should stop making these sort of games because simply "theres too many of them" There is a reason why there are so many of them and that is they reach a huge audience. But i guess i cant be too harsh because i kind of agree with the basis in what you are saying. Especially the damn mario franchise. I mean how many godamned times are they going to make another super mario and mario kart? I wouldn't mind but the wii version isn't any different from the original nes version, its just had about 4000 newer versions. You can pretty much guarantee that whenever nintendo bring out a new console there will always be a new super mario and mario kart

so your all saying that if the gameplay was still matched to that of the first two games you seriously wouldn't get bored or think its the same old thing over and over? I like all the previous ones and this one is even better because its taken it into a new direction. It seems to me that a lot of people judge a book by what someone else said it looks like before even getting it and reading it themselves.
-
well i guess as its the 5th installment of the series they really have to change things and evolve it otherwise it wil be boring doing the same old thing with the same old moves and the same gadgets. A lot of people say chaos theory reached the peak of the series and double agent was a dissapointment. However i liked both and saw each game evolve and get better. Conviction feels like a completely new game altogether and all the controls have been flipped on their arse and a lot of old moves have gone replaced with brand new ones. I found a comic strip mocking the long dialogue of random soldiers

well in a nutshell if you love bourne identity and 24 then the style of action, conspiracy, twists, action and storyline then this is for you

lol thats exactly what i did, you got so much more attached to your characters when they were named and actually tried to make them survive each mission. And yes the lobsterman one of the hard to kill enemies from terror of the deep. Very hard to take on a battle cruiser mission full of those things. Nostalga anyone? http://ufopedia.csignal.org/ufopedia/

I hated terror missions I remember one i started and on the aliens very first turn they launched a guided fussion missile into my skyranger wiping out my whole squad before they could do anything. Alien bases are fun, i oly attempt it if i have had a quiet month as far as ufo activity goes and i do it to show the government that im making an effort. usually with full armor high weaponary ad trained soldiers. The worse fights were when the aliens would attack your own base because most of the time they would catch me with low supplies or unarmed unarmoured rookies to defend the base.
-
After sorting an enemy crash site or terror site i would immediatly sell corpses, clips and guns and only have weapons that were enough to equip my team. You can seriously make well over 5 million in a month and thats not with government funding, and apart from ships and ship weapons I pretty much never had to manufacture anything because after recovering alien artifacts and researching them i could stock up quite quickly with verything i needed

I have always wanted to see films that leave the viewer emotionally involved or affected by what they saw in the film, but i have never really seen a drama/thriller/horror that really left an impact on me until now. I was just recommended a film by a friend of mine all he said was "its the most offensive uncomfortable and violent film you have probably ever seen." That was all i had to work with. I eventually got it and its called "irreversible." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/ (read other comments on there, most are horrified to have seen it) It was released in 2002 and the only real star i could recognise was monica bellucci (matrix and tears of the sun.) Its set in france and is all in french (but with english subtitles.) The strange thing is the film is set backwards kind of like pulp fiction. Each scene ends and the next one starts before the previous scene started. However this edit made the film even more powerful because all the horror starts at the beginning and the end of the film is the lead up to it and its very strange but works because you understand why the violence is so fierce and kind of justified. It was named as the sole film of 5 years running that people walked out during its showing. Here is what makes it offensive. There is a very graphic fight scene at the beginning that is so realistic the clip was actually used as a viral claiming to be a real video. The second thing is the violently graphic never ending rape scene that lasts up to 20 minutes without a break, interruption or even a single camera cut. (spoilers) The dude who gets his head pounded and eventually crushed to a pulp by a fire extinguisher and you do not see the cut or how they even accomplished the effect was done using VERY high quality digital fx and hardened critics say its very difficult to watch. Then theres the arm snapping backwards glassing in the face it all took place in the space of 5 minutes. The most disturbing part of this film is seeing in a full uncut graphical manor is monica bellucci being raped and beaten beyond recognition and having her head slammed into the pavement repeatedly afterwards. Now i have a very strong stomach and even this scene was VERY difficult and uncomfortable to watch for me. But it was weird because alough i wanted to look away i also didn't want to miss anything if that makes sense. However the film doesn't tame down anything it is probably in fact a brutal eye opener of the violent world we live in, say for instance hollywood likes to cut away or change the scene when things get unpleasent. This film sticks with it in full view of the camera a bit like being a witness to a violent beating of someone in the street. You are caught right in the action and see everything. The camera holds still for a full 15 minutes of the rape scene without any interruptions or cuts and you feel like you are held down at knifepoint and forced to watch. There is even full visible sex scenes going on in the film too, like i said nothing is cut or avoided to please the board of classification. Great camera work, sound design, character development, story structure are all elements that make Irreversible a memorable, intelligent film. Some scenes can last up to 15 minutes without a single cut or camera change and this is genius. For instance the camera follows the characters as they walk down the street, down the subway, on the subay train, stays with them for 4 stops while they engage in conversation, then as they leave and onto a street in a new location, this all one one take. But yeah, be warned - not for the faint of heart. It stays with you, so the big question is Should you watch Irreversible? No, not if you're looking for a happy all-action thriller where everyone shoots each other but nobody dies, the videogame reality of most films/TV. Yes, if you want to see an interesting construct well acted and have a strong constitution. As mentioned, you cannot 'unsee' the film, so choose wisely. some interesting film facts based on irreversible (possible spoilers again) Newsweek stated that this was the most walked out of movie of the year. The first 30 minutes of the film has a background noise with a frequency of 28Hz (low frequency, almost inaudible), similar to the noise produced by an earthquake. In humans, it causes nausea, sickness and vertigo. It was the main cause of people walking out of the theaters during the first part of the film in places like Cannes and San Sebastian. In fact, it was added with the purpose of getting this reaction. The blood on Bellucci's face towards the end of the rape scene was added digitally afterwards, as were the smashed-face effects in the club fight scene. The rapist's genitals, seen after the rape, were added digitally. Monica Bellucci and Jo Prestia completed six takes of the rape scene over two nights. Bellucci claimed the first take was actually the easiest to do, since on subsequent takes she had a heightened awareness of what was going to happen and had to prevent this from interfering with her characterization. The "Rectum" was in fact a genuine ghey S&M club in Paris. The crew changed the name, redressed the set and added red lighting. The club was spread across the basements of three separate buildings and was so cavernous and confusing that many of the crewmembers became claustrophobic in it. There have been unconfirmed reports that some viewers have been left disturbed and one actually became triggered to violent sexual behaviour due to watching it.

irreversible the most shocking and offensive film ever
Archamedes replied to Archamedes's topic in OFFTOPIC
oh i haven't seen that one can you explain why? -
What made ufo and terror so good was simply the turn based gameplay. The fact that you had to use your time units sparingly and save some for a reserved shot (if you spot an alien during their turn and shoot them)It made the battlefield more strategic, like playing chess. Tak you time to position your soldiers/pieces then close in on the enemy. Sometimes change is good and as i said i would rather sit down and play it for myself first rather than judging or slagging off very early concepts of how it come out. But the power of voice really works i guess, look at the early concepts of splinter cell conviction, the dirty tramp style sam running around the streets beating up cops and stealing their radios. I liked the sound of that but because the splinter cell fanboys caused such a shitstorm, the producers completely changed the gameplay.

I hope you dont mean microrpose, if you do then they went bust and someone else bought x-coms rights now take 2 have them I am open minded. ufo is a cult classic, alough it never really has had much press or fame it is a very highly respected game by many even to this day nearly 20 years later. I am going to be open minded to it and see if its any good. They cant call it a remake if they completely change everything, but if its more of a graphical update with more battle features then i cant see why it wont be so bad. if its too different then i would see it more as another sequel or alternate gaming style

you need any help? -
I still play ufo enemy unknown and its sequel terror from the deep and was absolutly addicted to it back in 1994 for months on end. The thing that i find so funny is that it probably took 6 months to design and it has an unlimited replayability regardless of how aged the graphics are. Take games like modern warfare 2, that took years to make and only hours to complete and return to the shops. I still play ufo now and will continue in the future and now its been converted to work on my phone i can still play it when im away from my pc. Its just a shame that any remakes seem to want to turn every game into a console based fps. I still think that it should have the turn based gameplay but with updated features like camera panning, desturctable enviornment (fire, sparks coming out of wires etc) And so long as they keep the core element of base control. (buying weapons scientists and building facilities.) The battles were only an extention of the gameplay

x-com or ufo defence as it was first called when released in 1994 is being remade and updated as far as graphics and gameplay goes but also keeping it as original as possible to the first game. Its not an official company remaking it, rather a large group of programmers and game artists. I have actually just provided some 3d models for the game straight out of 3ds max. its going to be called ufo xenocide The new remake and its progress can be found here http://www.projectxenocide.com/ also the original xcom ufo defence game can now be played in its entirety with full original graphics and full gameplay on pc or non pc smart phones for FREE download top 2 files http://www.xcomufo.com/x1dl.html

I am getting to the end of my tether with youtube and their over the top policy. I yet again got an email saying one of my video tutorials could be eligable for revenue. Bearing in mind all the ones before i have applied for have been refused with no explanation and no chance to explain your case. Well Today i got another email prompt saying that another one of my tutorials is eligable, so yet again i filled in all questions and gave as much info as i could. surprise suprise it got refused. I then contacted youtube directly and sent them this I really don't know what more information i need to give. I am actuallly getting sick of trying to add or justify my videos on youtube now because of how stupidly tight the rules are getting. Unless its a person in a field wearing clothes with no designer labels, no music or tv in the background and not saying any words that may be related to something copyrighted its no wonder people are now using other sites to host videos. I guess its why closing down napster completly brought music piracy to a complete halt. Back to my video again I am a video tutor, my video is a tutorial explaining how to create a special effect in a 3d program. Here is the bit that i tiresomley have to try and explain to you people. The voice in the video is MINE! There is NO movie or TV Visuals, There is NO Performances from Concerts events or shows. There are NO photographs or artwork used apart from something you actually create yourself if you are following the tutorial and is therefore NOT copyright. There is NO copyrighted music in the video the opening logos were created by myself as i am a video editor if you havent kept up yet. There is NO video game visuals at all and the only visual included is the program needed for the tutorial called 3ds studio max. and by showing this i really fail to see how it falls under any copyright or anything as such, being as companies and other people alike make a full time living by making and selling dvd tutorials the exact same way i have in this video. so if these companies are legally allowed to sell these tutorial dvds then i cannot see how i am causing a copyright issue by hosting it on youtube. so in short i am not ripping of linkin park or hosting the next episode of lost at all for this video (but i can give you more than enough youtube links on tv shows you haven't bothered banning). so for once i would at least like to see one of my NON COPYRIGHTED Tutorials out of the 50 i have online be accepted for revenue as you keep refusing them all the bloody time when im not copyrighting anything except my own work which i can't copyright myself, and i don't think there is any jury in the world that will allow me to sue myself for copyrighting my own work. I now await your next refusal email because i may have mentioned the word "planet" that may be copyrighted by someone. I wonder what they reply with

thats the 1.05 beta i want the 2.05 ace

what i find highly amusing is when someone is wrong or caught out, rather than putting their hand up and admitting it, they immediatly try to pick petty things to throw back at the person who originally pointed out their mistake in the first place. Just like people who can't find a reasonable arguement or come back just say F$%K off.

sorry to grave dig but the 2.5 version link no longer exists and im just updating all my 3rd party missions since i have had to do a big reinstall

also if you watch the end credits of rambo 3 you see a small shout out written by the production crew bigging up the resistance fighters which as we all know them now as the taliban
-
there is no rivalary here, nobody is kicking off or trolling. Its difference of opinion. Rambo has a lot of post dramatic stress going on, he stays away from people and is not one for speeches but can certainly kick ass, its definatly not controlled aggression because he doesn't have an off switch when he goes off on one. Dutch was pretty much left traumatised in the predator fight and you never got to see what happened to him afterwards so its really hard to tell. Maybe he went all post dramatic too, and has a kill switch when the pizza guy delivers too late. Theres a fight i wanna see, both in a cage, twitching and screaming in their own piss while having a flashback of vietnam/predator then charging at each other in a psychotic driven rage.
