  1. Thanks for all the feedback! I realised that I might have released the mission too soon, but it's hard when you don't have anyone to test it. I've fixed everything that has been brought up and also added alot of stuff.

  2. ARMA 2 CO SP MISSION: VULCAN v1.1

    I have previously made two missions. I released them when ARMA 2 were kind of new. Since then I didn't really have time to create anything new, even though I got pretty good response from those. I just got back into the game again and decided to make a new mission, cause that's the part I like most about this game. I don't know how the community has been evolving, so I hope that my mission wont feel outdated.

    PREVIOUS MISSIONS

    SP Mission: Operation Enable Sky

    SP Mission: Morning Assault

    MISSION SHORT INFO

    You lead a squad of ten men. Your mission is to destroy three targets at the enemy location. After the objective is done you will need to meet at the extraction point.

    CHANGE LOG

    Thanks for all the feedback! I realised that I might have released the mission too soon, but it's hard when you don't have anyone to test it. I've fixed everything that has been brought up and also added alot of stuff.

    - Completely reworked how the chopper extraction works. Should now be reliable.

    - Added ammo crate in the camp with different weapons stocked.

    - Adjusted equipment for player and entire squad.

    - Changed weather, should now be less fog and rain. The weather won't just switch agressivly anymore.

    - There is now a chance that enemy reinforcement will spawn when destroying an objective.

    - Added cinematic intro and outro.

    - Added two additional objectives.

    - Polished enemy positions and much more.

  3. Excellent mission, two thumbs up, so far the best OFPish experience i had since a long long time.

    Even showed that to a mate that isnt a mil sim fan and he was amazed by it.

    One thing i found not so nice was the locked trucks in the russian camp, i planned to rearm my squad after the second Tunguska so i ran all the way back to get the truck and pick my men up just to find that all trucks are locked.

    I guess in war if i need a transport id surely find a way to use a truck that stands there all nicely.

    Better than running all the way back for sure :)

    Apart from that i played till we take the village and wait for the counter but it seems the counterattack doesnt come.

    I even ran towards the are where the enemy is supposed to come from but didnt encounter anything.

    You can use the APC for rearming, and the mission is designed in the way that you should always have it with you. Judging from what you wrote, did you make your way by foot at the Tunguska-part of the mission? That must have taken some patiens :)

    Regarding the last part, did Charlie and Delta take the defensive positions? The counterattack will not trigger until they are in place or/and are dead.

    Just played your updated version of this right through,excellent mission!

    Theres a lot more enemies come pouring out of Grishino this time round, not advisable to advance across open ground! I eventually made it into the woods on the right on the approach to the town & picked off the enemy infantry from there with my men in reasonably safe cover, charlie & delta werent so lucky though, their headlong charge only left about 2 of them for the counter attack!

    The only bugs I noticed were on one go the blackhawk that was meant to pick my squad up decided to fly to the other side of map instead of coming to us, so I reloaded my last save before the choppers came & on the second go it did what it was meant to do. The other bug was that the second M1A1 tank that is supposed to advance on Grishino supporting charlie & delta didnt move, it just stayed put, repeated goes didnt seem to move it. The other M1A1 nearer my squad did as it was supposed to though so we werent totally without armour.

    Top mission & one il definitely play again!

    I've got many reports that the choppers are bugging sometimes, but everytime I try this part I have never encountered it. Kind of weird. It might have to do something with the performance of the computer you are sitting on. If the performance is bad the game might "skip" some of the triggers and stuff like that. That's just my theory thought, don't know how the game works under the hood really! It could also be a AI bug.

    The way I balanced the assault on Grishino, was making sure that Delta and Charlie could make it on their own without getting wiped out too easily. They are still not invincible though ;) I use some hidden stuff like respawning troopers that are invisible to the player. They would never make it since they are so heavily outnumbered otherwise.

    I wanted player to be able to complete this part without it being too frustrating and make the "really" hard part the counterattack - where you hopefully feel that you accomplished something hard if you make it alive.

    Anyway my next mission should be available in the coming week, keep an eye open for it!


  5. Thanks for the respons this far! I will try to post a updated 1.1 version this weekend with all the feedback I'm getting.

    Just dled, will play it abit later. However from seeing the briefing screen, you gave the AT troopers M136's with SMAW rounds... Therefore AT troopers = ineffective unless there's a box around in the beginning.

    I will look into that, unfortunate to let that one slip into the release ;)

    I think, considering the task and the opfor, taking out the AA armour with no losses is a bit steep. Perhaps change it 50% or 25% loss. Having to reload because you lost one guy when the opfor outnumber you x6 or x7 is frustrating. Just my opinion.

    When you play your own mission so many times to find bugs etc, it's hard to balance since you know where everything will happen etc. I didn't realize it was too hard! This I will look into! Thanks!

    The other two squads BHs didn't land to pickup charlie and delta so the one I'm on is just hovering over the forest on a wait command. Retried with same result.

    This is really wierd! I've tried this part around 20 times, and never did I encounter this... will try look into that.


  6. ARMA 2 SP MISSION: OPERATION ENABLE SKY v1.0

    This is my second ARMA 2 mission. I have also released the SP mission "Morning Assault", around two weeks ago. This time around I have learned so much more about the editor. I hope you will enjoy this mission!

    *UPDATE* CHANGE LOG v 1.1

    Have been polishing the mission, hope that everyone that got problems before will give it another go. Thanks for all the input that made this possible!

    - Optimized overall performance.

    - There should now not be any reason for the choppers to change course / not land.

    - Changed so that mission does not fail if a squad member dies in the first part (this is not true for the transport).

    - Added random enemy patrols during the first part to compensate for this.

    - Changed so that a truck with soldiers will reinforce your squad if any losses were made before the chopper part.

    - Fixed a bug where the AT specialists had the wrong ammo and were unable to use AT weapon.

    - Before the assault on Grishino, Bravo, Charlie, Delta should now report properly when in position.

    - Fixed so that the armor support will move more with the squads instead of charging into Grishino alone.

    - Added some enemies in Grishino.

    - The attack on Grishino should now be more balanced.

    MISSION SHORT INFO

    Bravo starts out in the woods and need to clear the western front from AA defenses. Bravo will also take part in a big scale assault together with Charlie, Delta and some armor support.

  7. Thanks for all the response! Really motivated to learn more about the editor and make more missions! About the ending, I know there is a problem with the enemy AI fleeing from the combat zone. I looked for solutions, but the best I got is to make a timeout, where you win if you are still alive. But on the other hand you could be losing the battle and still get a win if done like that.

    I would love to get a solution on how to make a trigger recognize "fleeing" enemy so they does not count as alive. Maybe someone knows how to do this?


  8. ARMA 2 SP MISSION: MORNING ASSAULT v 1.0

    So I have been playing around with the editor for some days (completly new to it), and finally got my first SP mission done. It's pretty simple not much scripting or advanced stuff like that. It's more focused on just combat. I spent alot of the time trying to balance it so it would be fun to play, so I hope I accomplished something decent!

    Mission info

    You start out in the woods and together with Bravo you are going to attack the small town to seize control. Just be ready for the counter attack, because the enemy really need this town too...
