    Hardware issues?

do yourself a favor and get yourself at least an amd 5850 or nvidia gtx 460. you will be glad u did!
  2. Well I am running 12a hotfix and I am having no luck with crossfire support at all. I swear it was working the other day, but now I get the same performance as one card. I tried to reinstall my drivers, but these 12a's are very difficult to work with. Has anybody else upgraded to the HD6000 series with crossfire and had any luck?
  3. I have two XFX 6970s in crossfire and I was getting 40-70fps in game, but now I am down to 30fps. When I disable one card and play I am now getting the same 30fps as I do when I have crossfire enabled. I swear crossfire was working with this yesterday, but now its out. Did the new patch screw up crossfire support? This is for operation Arrowhead, as normal vanilla arma2 has never worked with crossfire for me. I am running: 980x, 12 gigs of ram, Rampage III mobo, (2) xfx6970s, and windows 7 -64 bit ultimate.
  4. It is NOT a CPU Bottleneck, look at my rig and see its not just the AMD guys that are having this problem I did the first test at 1920x1200, with everything set to very high, except no AA and post processing disabled. Test One - 27 Test Two - 25 Test Three - 21 Test Four - 26 Test Five - 10 OFPMark is 2100 Then I did the test over with 2560x1600 resolution, and left the other settings the exact same as the test above and got the following numbers Test One - 25 Test Two - 23 Test Three - 20 Test Four - 24 Test Five - 11 OFPMark is 2050 What the hell is going on with this game! Something is very very off, when the difference between 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 is 2fps! I'm runnin two ultras in SLI, 8 gigs of ram, evga 750i FTW, a water cooled INTEL Q6700 oc'd @ 3.6ghz & vista ultimate 64 -------------------- EVGA 750i FTW INTEL Q6700 @ 3.6 Swifteck H20 Watercooled Two 8800ultras in teh SLIz 8 GB G.SKILL PC2-8500 Omega Claro Soundcard Thermaltake 1000w PSU Antec 900 case Gateway XHD3000 Vista 64 Ultimate
  5. Im using two ultras in sli with vista 64 and 8gigs of ram, 186.18 drivers, but i have to step the memory down with msconfig trick in order to avoid artifacting. I have tried every trick and this yields the best performance. oh man i remember goin from a 386 16mhz to a 486 50mhz machine and stunts, a10 tank killer, red baron, 4d boxing and alone in the dark ran so buttery smooth it was amazing... Good times! but hey that 486 50 cost $3k of 1990 money!
  6. golfclap is from back in the day....wasnt it an old david spade snl thing?

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Bruno, I have tried all of the troubleshooting and quick fixes, but yours has helped me the MOST!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
  8. Ok, number 1 I have been using both water cooling and air cooling...my ocd cpu is water cooled and my 8800ultras really should be watercooled but my cheapass is to cheap to spend $200 on waterblocks...so I have a $20 walmart house fan blowing in my case to cool them down....but watercooling is the way to go ANYWAY BACK TO THE TOPIC Uggg, well Windows 7 was not any better. People have reported that Windows 7 plays smoother and they are right....it does, but it plays like super Vsync is on with low frames...even though all vsync is FORCE disabled it still plays like vsync is on all the time. What I mean is it has horribly sluggish mouse response times and it averages 20 fps in the tests. Also, the picture looks fuzzy, washed out and faded at 2560x1600 even though the post processing feature is disabled and on VIsta 64 with the same settings the picture is very crisp. I tried the 181 drivers with W7 because there are no 182.5 drivers...and then I also tried the 186.18 drivers, but when I used the 186.18 drivers I had to do the msconfig trick and force memory to 7680 instead of using the full 8gig that i have. Basically, I have gone back over to using Vista 64, the 186.18 drivers, and forcing my memory down to 7680 in msconfig. The game plays the best at these settings, but still suffers from micro-stutter, especially on the bigger board....what is it called utes....its pretty solid on the smaller island board. So this is where I am going to leave it till a patch comes out....I have tried everything and this is it.
  9. Also, I would like to add. I disabled SLI, turned it off completely and with one 8800ultra I was pulling on average 2-3fps less than when I have SLI on... 2-3fps less!!!!! What is going on with this game? I played it with one card running and it really did not play any worse than when they are SLId....I am almost done messing with this game....pathetic
  10. Nope...I actually got a few FPS LESS when I would run the test a second time. I have tried multiple resolutions now.... 1280, 1650, etc a bunch of lessor resolutions and they all test at similar numbers that I get when I test 2560x1600! It is very annoying to say the least, the game is playable, but suffers from stutters every now and then, which is becoming very annoying for me now. I have the demo on my raptor drive and it does not play any better or more fluid then the full game which is on my slower/larger hard drive. I would also like to note that the game plays AMAZING when I play on the ARMORY thing....very fluid, very high FPS, no stuttering, no lag....so why does the game play so much better in the armory, but worse when I play single player or multiplayer?
  11. I will try that and report back my findings....very frustrating, this is an amazing game....I wish it was as easy as it was back in the day with Battlefield 1942 when all you had to do was buy a radeon 9700pro and some ram and then walla...done! Now we got all kinks of crap working is various ways...arrrgggH
