ALiVEmod.com The next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for ArmA3 Release Build #233 I didn't like how intel was a bit rubbish and it was hard to figure out what the virtual AI was actually doing behind the scenes. So I wrote a spec for a more realistic intel overlay and Spyderblack coded it. Once enabled in the C2ISTAR module, Virtual AI units will report the location, activity and type of enemy units they detect on the map. Friendly commanders will indicate their current objectives and units that KIA will be marked to indicate where active combat is taking place. This should provide a much better idea of what is going on and help players determine where to get involved in the action. Players with the Command Tablet can still see the detailed Operational Overlay for AI Commanders. ALiVEmod.com The next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for ArmA3 Release 1.14 SOG Prairie Fire cDLC Update To coincide with release of the exciting new Creator DLC: SOG Prairie Fire, this update provides full compatibility for the new Vietnam map, factions and units. We've also included 4 new scenarios, which will be available to play on the SOG Prairie Fire ALiVE public server and also our own official ALiVE public server hosted by Kelly's Heroes. In the meantime we have also made over 300 bug fixes, feature enhancements and refinements. Some of these changes could impact existing missions so as always we strongly recommend deleting and replacing ALiVE modules if you experience odd behaviour. In addition, we have provided a selection of Vietnam-era compositions to complement the new ALiVE missions. ALiVE SOG Prairie Fire Compositions is available as a separate download on the Steam Workshop. The compositions will automatically be used by ALiVE placement modules but can also be used standalone and placed manually in the editor. Single player, local hosts and dedicated servers need to run the mod to use the compositions with ALiVE. Note that clients joining dedicated servers do not need to subscribe (though they do need the cDLC obviously!) In this year's release Tup has a meltdown, Spyderblack invents something awesome but entirely unrelated to ALiVE, Tupw goes all humanitarian and Highhead crashes his spaceship into the sun.   5. Generally people will only answer if they know the answer 🙂 It's throwing an error because you're defining a class twice somewhere in the config. I can't say what the specific issue is without seeing the config, but it's likely a very simple fix. Send us a copy of your custom faction and we can take a look at it.

  7. Factions names are all case sensitive, so check that first. You can load a faction into the Orbatron to check that it has groups defined properly to work with ALiVE (it's what Orbatron was originally invented for!)

ALiVEmod.com The next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for ArmA3 Pathfinding Spyderblack has taught ALiVE Virtual AI how to navigate, which is a feature that's been on our backlog since forever. This means virtual land forces should stick to the land and move around impassable terrain such as lakes and mountains, providing a more realistic interpretation of the battlefield. Vehicles should avoid very steep terrain, wheeled vehicles prefer roads and aircraft can go anywhere (when they're airborne anyway). Ai path finding may occasionally have issues on maps with lots of small islands, so there is an option to turn it off in the Virtual AI module if you wish.   12. ALIVE 1.9 Pre-Release is now available on Github. This introduces experimental pathfinding for ALiVE Virtual AI, which means virtual land forces should stick to the land and move around impassable terrain such as lakes. Vehicles should avoid mountainous terrain, wheeled vehicles prefer roads, and planes can go anywhere (when they're airborne anyway). It took Spyderblack just under a week to put this together and it seems to work without any issues, which is...suspicious. It'd be great if some people could try this out and let us know what you think.

Code is dangerous, but right now he's worse. Dangerous and foolish. He may not like who's coding with him, but whose side is he on? That is right, but I held something back. I see some real genius in his coding, but I can't say that in here. I'm afraid that everyone in the tax trailer would see right through me, and I just don't want anyone to know that I've fallen for him. ALiVEmod.com The next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for ArmA3 Hotfix Due to accidental redundancies in our QA department following explosive decompression of the charity coffee machine, management has concluded that QA should henceforth be outsourced, off shored, crowd funded and delegated to public committee. There is nothing to see here, please move along. There were a number couple regression bugs in the 1.7 release that for some unfathomable reason didn't manifest in testing. The performance improvements on Virtual profiles somehow impacted logistics requests for groups of AI.   17. ALiVE persistence works on profiled units or on objects / empty vehicles after player interaction. If you spawn anything in via script or Zeus, it either must be profiled (you can use the Admin menu to profile all non-profiled items in game) or the player needs to get in/out (vehicles) or interact with it (ammo crates).

ALiVEmod.com The next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for ArmA3 Release 1.5.1 Hackathon 2017 Last month the dev team got together for our annual 24 hour hackathon where we focus our efforts to smash some knotty bugs and finish off as many WIP features as we can. We also eat a lot of pizza and play test ALiVE to death (usually ours). We have added a simple respawn for destroyed MACC aircraft although they will not yet retain custom pylon loadouts for manually placed aircraft. That will come when we add full integration with the Military Logistics framework. However, we have added this feature to Player Combat Support aircraft. C2ISTAR tasks have had an overhaul and should now be more robust. Tasks are a popular feature of ALiVE but the existing randomly generated tactical tasks are only a placeholder. Our vision is to have autogenerated missions fully integrated with the AI Ground, Air and Logistics Command so that players are directed to support the AI Commander's current objectives. We have built the framework for the Strategic Tasks system and integrated some Air Tasking Orders, which will be assigned to players and AI flying combat aircraft. We've added some initial and very basic Strategic Ground tasks and will expand on these in due course. Select "Strategic" in the tasks module if you want to try out this new system. The ALiVE Quickstart mission has been updated so should work properly now. We've also added a simple multiplayer scenario on Malden, mostly aimed at demonstrating how to set up a basic ALiVE mission in Eden - feel free to pull it apart and have a look. ALiVE War Room Closure Notice ALiVE War Room has always been free at the point of use and has relied on the generosity of the community to cover server costs. Unfortunately after 5 years of continuous service there are no longer sufficient funds to support maintenance costs. We are exploring alternative funding options but in the event that we have to close down the War Room, you will obviously lose access to the ALiVE cloud services. You can still use the local persistence option in the ALiVE Data module for mission and player persistence (this is the preferred approach anyway).   21. It's been simplified an awful lot now so you don't need a dedi server or any database setup. Simply place the ALiVE (Data) module and set Database Source to Local. Then turn on Persistence on any modules you want to persist - AI Commander, Virtual AI System, CQB, Player Options (be sure to select "Save to Database"). Respawn works exactly the same as any normal mission - place a respawn marker (e.g. respawn_west) and include respawn=3 in your desription.ext as you would with any mission. BI Community wiki has a useful page that explains more. The ALiVE Multispawn sit on top of this and just adds some more immersive ways of respawning.
  22. Bear in mind also that you don't need to set up War if you use local persistence, which is the preferred option. You will only need War Room to benefit from Mission Stats and After Action Reviews. @tobur If you have it running your new faction in the mod line, when you load the Orbat Creator it will show up in the faction list. Import and edit it like you would any other faction.

Voice Procedure for the Light Infantryman Alternative Colour Scheme As a former Regimental Signals Officer and Signals Instructor I thought it would be useful to knock up a guide to Voice Procedure for all those aspiring milsim groups out there. VP is not mandatory and every unit will have their own preferences. However, If done well it not only enhances immersion but also improves tactical command and control. This guide covers UK and US procedures for low level tactical command nets (Company and Platoon). It is pitched at the level of a rifleman who has no specialist training, so the more advanced VP used by the likes of Forward Observers and TACP is not included. I have also tweaked some aspects slightly for the sake of simplicity and to keep it relevant in the context of ArmA. Although it is specifically aimed at Light Infantry users, it is still relevant for vehicle crews although some details such as call signs would be different. In reality, every unit in the military has variations on Standard Operating Procedures (referred to as Standard Operating Instructions) and ArmA milsim units are no different. Conventions, habits and variations creep into every unit's way of doing things and that's fine. However, if you want an insight into how VP is taught "by the book", have a read. I hope you enjoy it and perhaps get some small measure of use out of it.
