  1. Pretty sure that Ep3 will have large scale battles with artillery, tanks and stuff flying in the sky. The mission size increased from Sruvive to Adapt already, and seeing the tendency, "Win" surely will have bigger missions. I am kind of scared by it already, because usually late-game missions in any ArmA game were draining my FPS extremely in the past... which pretty much means for me, that they aren't fun to play. Though, if the missions are made / optimized like the Armed Assault showcase mission, I still have high hopes.
  2. But shouldn't it be common sense that a (more or less short) sp mission would have a harder time to compete? Besides this, a campaign could still be worse than a well made sp mission... Playing a good mission > playing a boring campaign. Other than that, I agree that this category could use a more detailed description. It's a very lose definition and could mean a many things.
  3. You should put all this stuff on a public repository server, so that everyone can download the latest files + participate in it, as it makes no sense to have 10 people starting the same mod.
  4. On the bright side, though, "Adapt" will probably appear on the dev branch much earlier. It will have more bugs too, if it works how I imagine it (with various mission hubs and more side-content, etc).
  5. If you go to the other soldiers, they should start a conversation and then move on with you. If this doesn't happen, you probably have to restart the mission from the beginning.
  6. I am curious about why you need the images in png format. Jpg is totally enough for this job.
  7. You can simply walk around / explore the area. If you get into specific areas, AAF will mortar the hell out of you, though.
  8. There are always better solutions... But then people start crying about bad performance in the game again.

    If I remember correct, the problem was that you could be spotted from miles away without being able to see the enemy due to the high grass. So it was actually a bad idea to walk into a high grass area, while the enemy was in low grass area.
  12. I made a few tests and it seems like your script only ever works if you play on "WEST". I tried changing the values in the init.sqf, but it doesn't matter what, only "WEST" spawns civs for me. Even if I edit the setTriggerActivation line in generate_zones.sqf directly. /Edit: Found the error. You have various (west countside list _active > 0) in your script. Rewriting the west fixes it. Btw. It would be fancy if you could also spawn a few cars here and there.
  13. I have pretty much the same question. Currently I am trying to recreate the campaign hub intro, where the player walks into the base and can only look around with the head. I've managed it to fiddle the walking and all that turf together, but the head movement is a mystery to me. I've searched the forum for a while now and also tried Google here and there, but I wasn't able to find anything that might give me a hint or two with this.

    Did you copy&pasted the "texture=" line by chance? Because if you did, then it is overwriting the default group icon (defined with "type") and as it's just a template, it will result in a not visible image in the game.

    1. I'll guess that's a bug then. Because even if I take the path from one of BIS' clases, it works on the map, but not as background image (despite the same path working in the sp campaign). Edit: Actually, if I try for example insignia = "\a3\missions_f_epa\data\img\orbat\B_Aegis_ca.paa"; then I do see the icon on the map and there won't be a error message on the ORBAT screen, but I don't see an image in the background either. 2. Thanks, works now. :)

    Got a question / problem as well. I am using a custom insignia graphic, which works without problems on the map. When I open the ORBAT screen, though, I'll get a "cannot load texture"-error, and therefore the image won't be shown in the background. It works in the sp campaign, though. Also I noticed that when I left-click an icon in the sp campaign, it always opens the ORBAT screen with all groups visible. While in my missions, I only see the group I've clicked on + the subordinates.

    Yeah, I actually like CSAT a lot more than the NATO faction. Simply because it is finally something more or less new and refreshing. I really hope that BIS won't turn them into your generic bad-guy faction with the official campaign. I think the concept of them can work a lot stronger and less cliche than a "hurr durr, world domination u ar mine!" motivation. Also I seriously hope to see a official CSAT campaign from BIS at some point. @SP: While I could see my missions working in a coop enviroment, I am not going to crowbar multiplayer into them. I think they work a lot better as plain singleplayer content (besides, I am mainly only playing sp myself anyway). So yeah... Yay to sp missions! :) I've got some more CSAT-related mission ideas plotted out already and hope to transform them into some fun missions. Maybe I'll even turn them into a small campaign or something like that. /Edit: And by the way. Good to see a comment on a sp mission thread for once. :> I've already started to assume that nobody is really interested in sp content at all.
  19. I wouldn't necessarily remove all the "LEFT"s and "RIGHT"s, etc. but reduce them a lot. Like, If you press the left-key multiple times in x seconds, you don't get a delay or the message for that time. This would also help to reduce the annoying LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, FORWARD, STOP, LEFT, FORWARD, etc. when you are in clumsy terrain.
  20. Small bump and stuff. I just uploaded a new version to the steam workshop, which fixes some minor issues with the mission + tweaks unit loadout and ambient music a bit. Also, i am still looking for people who might be able to provide voice over in farsi. Getting this done would be super fancy.

  23. ArmA2 coop campaign was pretty horrible, imo. So many technical problems, it wasn't even funny. What I hope regarding the ArmA3 campaign is, that it won't be too black and white. Evil east oppressing the west, etc. It's time for something a little deeper...

    Because "BI community" is not a single entity, maybe? For example, I played the games since Operation Flashpoint, and I never said anywhere that I do not care about a campaign or sp missions.

    Had the same thought. Doing it in episodes or whatever. Even if you only have 2 or 3 missions at start... at least something should be there. /Edit: And people, don't hang up on the "free" - you already paid for the game, of course it will be free.
