FV107 Scimitar - interest?
reconteam replied to BennyBoy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Very nice, I've always liked the Scimitar. Any plans to perhaps add the Scorpion with 76mm? I know it is no longer in service, but it would still be nice to have. -
The Undead Mod
reconteam replied to charon productions's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'm very glad to see this picked up again. One improvement I would like to see is some more animations. It's rather silly when all of the zombies are walking towards you in sync, but then again, maybe they were just trying to replicate Michael Jackson's Thriller. -
F/A-18 Super Hornet
reconteam replied to Meatball0311's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
For some reason I keep getting this bug where the Super Hornet won't render properly. Only certain parts of the aircraft and weapons appear. -
"Beauty" and "Mi-28" are two things that don't go together, (even the AH-64 is prettier), but that is very impressive work.

Just noticed this C-17A of yours. Purty... Keep up the good work. -

Never heard of this 45mm cannon. I've heard that they wanted to fit the GSh-30-6 to some Frogfoot variant, but it seems nothing came of that. Any links about this weapon system? -
I had thought the Russians were going to standardize on the Ka-50/52 series. Seems like they've kept switching back and forth between them and the Mi-28 since the late 1980s.

I think the radar would do most of the work of keeping the turret trained on target. From what I've read about the MIM-146 ADATS (which would have been something of a NATO counterpart) it worked on a similar system but electro-opitcal sensors take up the tracking after radar initially acquires the target.

I believe the Tunguska uses radio-command SALCOS guidance for its missiles, meaning it shouldn't be able to do "snap" missile shots as easily as can be done in game. Earlier variants of the missile system were also rather vulnerable to jamming and countermeasures. Would a Maverick do the job with dealing with them in ArmA2, or do they lack the range?
-
Mi-28 eh? I'm already drooling enough at the prospect of the AH-64. Out of curiosity, if you were to ever do a European attack helo, do you think you would go for the Eurocopter Tiger or A129 Mangusta?

Valve declares WIndows 8 "a catastrophe for PC", talks about migrating games to Linux
reconteam replied to orcinus's topic in OFFTOPIC
Windows 7 is the new XP. It won't be going anywhere for a long time. Windows 8 in its current form seems to be destined to failure. I had Windows Vista SP2 when I first got my current (since upgraded several times) gaming computer. Honestly I did not have many problems with it once I got used to the interface. Windows 7 in my experience has largely been "product improved Vista". -

Great work, about time we had something a bit scarier than Stingers to shoot at OPFOR. I apologize if this has already been asked, but are there any plans to replicate any of the features of the F-35's EODAS system? I imagine the limits of the ArmA2 engine may prevent this, but if not, it would be very impressive. -

It seems that Remington offers both the conventional tri-rail and the five-sided modular rail system. It looks like Remington's five-sided design has gone through two iterations, perhaps the newer version is made from the same magnesium alloy as the new lower receiver? Bushmaster has also shown a five-sided modular system but it has some differences from the Remington version. Besides for the magnesium alloy lower receiver, the version of the ACR that Remington submitted for ICC trails featured: -M16 style grip and trigger guard -An adjustable, non-folding stock -Folding charging handle -Quick change barrel system replaced by a more conventional barrel nut -Other minor changes -
US Army ditches digital camo scheme. Will Arma 3 follow suit?

I rather liked the UCP-Delta pattern that was trailed by some units. Don't mistake Iranian bravado for their actual air defense capabilities. -
I'm looking for Proponents and Opponents of the DAYZ mod.
reconteam replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I tried it and didn't like it after some guy lagging into a wall gunned me down. Not certain what people are getting out of it. But it's more money for BIS and will hopefully lead to some fixes in the way of multiplayer for ArmA3. -

I'm amazed you haven't been driven insane by the MoD's switch from F-35B to F-35C then back again. Keep up the great work. -

Six Updater: Install/Update mods, missions. Delta patching. Server browser, and more!
reconteam replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
Does SixUpdater copy every file twice? I'm seeing all of my addons and stuff in their regular folders, but everything seems to duplicated in .rsync folders. Why is this? -
What international law abuses? The UN has become an incompetent morally corrupt organization whose mandates are only "suggestions". Meanwhile the trend of cracking down on civil liberties didn't start with him, and didn't end with him.

Spawning as a seagull/bird?
reconteam replied to reconteam's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Thanks for the advice kylania. I too have suffered from my share of ejecting from a helicopter or moving car from mistake, perhaps I'll make things a bit easier. If I did decide to implement this in a later mission, is there anyway to change a seagull to a hawk or something more suitable for Takistan? -
Spawning as a seagull/bird?
reconteam posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I've been trying my hand at scripting and I haven't been able to find out the way to get it so after death you respawn as a seagull (or some sort of bird). IIRC you could do this in ArmA1. -
I would bet that most of the claimed (non-confirmed) kills are not true. We are talking about fighter pilots after all. I've also seen that video from a T-38, but can that even simulate having an armament? Were the aircraft still practicing ACM at the time or did the T-38 decide to go for a shot after the engagement officially ended? I believe RAF Typhoons have gotten a few kills, but I'm sure F-22s have gotten kills in return. Indeed the bulk of the F-22's kill tally is likely in BVR, because that is where it's most capable. However that doesn't mean its physical performance is lacking. It certainly isn't. It has outstanding maneuverability, acceleration, high speed and high altitude performance. But that doesn't assure victory. Experienced Aggressor F-5E pilots have long humiliated newer pilots flying F-16s that have all-around superior performance. I'm not certain if you're trying to claim there is some fundamental design flaw with the F-22, but that isn't the case. Rather the lack of a system like JMHCS with AIM-9X support is a significant disadvantage when you close with an enemy who has comparable systems. Right now F-22s are still flying with AIM-9M Sidewinders, which work but aren't nearly as capable as that combination of newer missiles (AIM-9X, ASRAAM, IRIS-T) and a helmet-mounted cuing system. A HMCS for the F-22 is one of those one of those features that always keeps getting delayed/cut due to the cost, technical issues, and indecision regarding possible commonality with the F-35's helmet mounted display. AIM-9X capability keeps getting delayed as it isn't a massive improvement without a HMCS. Another nice thing the Typhoon has is an IRST. The AIRST once planned for the F-22 was cut with a host of other features during the '90s. Today I still think an IRST would be nice to have on the F-22, but not yet necessary. The decision to cut the F-22 was an incredibly short-sighted one in my opinion. If the lack of systems that could have been integrated with the necessary funding and effort factored into the decision to cut the program, that is a new level of stupidity in my book. The F-22 program suffered greatly due to constant cuts, changes, and was finally cut off at the knees a few years ago. It will work, but it's unlikely to be everything it could have been, which is a terrible shame. The F-35 is needed but that fills a different set of requirements. I'm sure the technical issues the F-35 is encountering will be fixed, I just really wish they could cut back on the weight. Of course these days everything is at risk due to our spending/debt problem, and despite what some will tell you, military procurement spending isn't the culprit.

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2
reconteam replied to mandoble's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Is there anyway to disable MMA for a single aircraft or vehicle? I've tried the "MMA Ignore This" logic synced to a vehicle but that doesn't seem to work. Can't find anything in the readme about it either. -
I am a conservative and quite proud of it. It's only a dirty word in Hollywood and some other places where something has been put in the drinking water. Of course I don't like everything the Republican party does, but you are a fool to think the Democrat party has done any better. They have continued to spend us trillions into debt at higher rates, they're more interested in pushing their liberal ideology at times than making decisions best for our country, they continue to get us involved in conflicts across the globe like Libya, Syria, and elsewhere. Many in their party want to seriously cut our military and through sequestration they will achieve that.

Upwards of 240 kills in training exercises and: 1 kill via a USAF F-16C 1 kill via a USN EA-18G 1 possible kill via USN F/A-18F 2 kills via RAF Typhoons ...now mean the Raptor's credibility has been irreparably damaged? Give me a break. You're implying some sort of agreement to avoid air combat training between F-22s and Typhoons? BTW the French supposedly have a bad habit of just loitering around trying to get the best radar/IR/communications signature information they can from the F-22. No idea if this is true however.
