graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
dynamic.zman replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Try setting textures and video memory to normal. That takes care of it for me usually. If I try to put it higher than that I get the terribly blinding artifacts. As for someone who mentioned overheating/overclocking, my card never gets above 60C when playing Arma II, so it is not the problem. Plus it goes away once I set the textures to normal. Best windows for Arma 2: XP / Vista / Seven ?

I'm sure this has been said before but, the game probably has a serious memory leak that's why performance drops over time. -
Fuzzy/Unclear menu and interface

Myke to the rescue. Thanks so much man, seems to have cleared it up. I've never had a problem like this before in any other game and I've had minimap detail set to high-performance when I switched to my 4870. -
I've been having this problem lately with Arma 2. I don't think the game is running at the correct resolution settings. Every once in a while when I start the game up the menu is fuzzy and unclear, definitely not the resolution I have it set at which is 1280X1024 (19" monitor :/ ). I think this mismatch makes its way into the game because it doesn't seem as clear. I can easily tell the difference when it works because I can see the soldiers face much more clearly on the startup screen, and in game. I've tried opening and closing the game, but today it wouldn't work. Could it be because I have the -nosplash parameter? I am running the Steam version. Also, this also happened with Empire: Total War, but just a game restart and it would fix it. I think it has something to do with Steam, but I could be wrong.

Fuzzy/Unclear menu and interface

Notice how everything is unclear? This is not 1280x1024 This is where it is most noticeable on the interface and menus. -
Fuzzy/Unclear menu and interface

Yes, mine looks exactly like that too. Except I don't have the white screen. The menu and game are out of focus.
