  1. What I tend to do in the editor is map out what i want the AI to do using waypoints and simple commands before the start of the mission/scenario. Once that is done they should carry out their 'orders'. In terms of coming across the enemy they will usually engage and deal with the problem themselves before moving onto their next waypoint/command, that is if their still alive.

    hope this helped.

P.S Has anyone else noticed but in the editor the US units always have a significant AI advantage over the OpFor. To try this out set up two equal groups of tanks one BlueFor(US) one OpFor(Russian) and click preview while hovering over in a civvie heli(neutral). You will notice that all the russian tanks get eliminated while the US tanks will usually only suffer a few losses.

  2. Hell, most PCs can't even run ArmA II at low settings, let a lone a laptop. A really good gaming laptop will run you near 2000 pounds. But then again, a really good gaming laptop is the equivalent of a shitty desktop. ;)

Not sure what your are on about. My desktop could run Arma 2 pretty fine at mid-level graphics. In fact the only thing that caused it to glitch was having a draw distance of 6km or putting masses of tanks on the field to have them kill each other (Now that almost killed my desktop).

  3. The Multiplayer can be varied, there are some really good consistent servers out there if you look or ask around, they are usually Clan run matches.

Unfortunally there are quite a few servers that are full of complete idiots that seem to be around the age of 7-10, though I havent played it for a while so these people may have left to play a more simple game such as Modern Warfare 2.

In the well run and managed matches the co-ordination is good with large Vehicle use going on (largely with Helicopters). Though if you wish to use aircraft your going to have to learn in the Mission editor before you try in a server as they usually kick those that can't fly and try (You will soon learn that a chopper crashing killing 14 marines and the crew because the pilot was a nOOB at flying is the most annoying thing ever). The well runs servers did attract a good number of good players (if no ones on then it might be because all the regs come from one part of the world, they might be asleep)

If you want to do some good offline action the Mission editor is AMAZING once you learn how to use it (and it is a steep learning curve), the campaign when I played what was the most buggest and glitchy ever but I think patch 1.04 fixed the majority of game ruining problems, with 1.05 dealing with the rest (as well as giving you an awesome new Chopper the Apache, which I've never used)

    Hope this helps.

  4. Never had this happen to me, but i heard that there is some sort of insta-kill trigger in the south that players can't pass. annoying and not really realistic.

Why cant a SPECIAL FORCES squad make it alone, the SAS can do it just to give an example (ever heard of Chris Ryan or Bravo two zero). So it is completely illogical that they can't even if they are American (not to cause offense but even Americans can do that)
