1.03 will come in few daysThat's good news! Placebo was right...
but we want to change way how we make patches. If it will be possible we will start beta releasses every new build. I think this will be announced soon, when we will be able to organise it.That's a good idea. I'ld be happy to help with testing betas.

You are trying to say that you are impatient and want your way now, not tomorrow, you are generation Y and expect everything on a silver platter, we understand totally.I always only asked für information. Of course I want the patch ASAP, but then who doesn't? But I will be patiently waiting, if BIS is at least keeping me up to date.
Did you buy a car, a house, a boat or maybe some expensive jewellry which has a flaw in it? It cost $50 for F^$k sake. Sit down, settle, be patient and relax.Well I don't care. If I buy something that is - in my mind - not working correctly, I'll complain about that and ask, when it's going to be fixed. To me, it doesn't matter, if this is a house, a car, or just a game. Legally it's the very same...
-
It will be ready when its ready... ffs some of you are impatient, you whine like children... 'muuuuumy I want it nooooow' nag nag nag.Yes of course. Don't you understand, I have paid the full prize WEEKS ago, not being able to play until now. By now, you can get a copy for half the price! And agiain I am a customier, I at least want information on when it's going to be fixed. There is still no official note on that. Placebo just believes, it's finished soon. BIS should keep his moderators informed and those should keep us informed. It's that simple. I'm a customer, no solicitant.

Oh come on, 20 fps is surely not enough. 40 fps is the minimum for a game played it the first person perspective. 60 would be better though. I do get 15 to 25 fps, but it drops to 7 to 10 fps for no (obvious) reason and it won't increase anymore. And a short time later it will freeze or CTD. This is unplayable... And before somebody suggests to check my hardware: I did. More than once. I did all kind of tests, not a single issue. I can run all other games with no issues.
-
The patch will be released as soon as it is ready and will include a fix or two .... well maybe 3, possibly 4, then again it might be more. All you need to know is ... a patch is being worked on and will be released when it is ready, it won't be released if it isn't ready, sounds reasonable to me.
Planck
Yes it is. And that's all I asked for. A rough estimation, when we can expect the next patch... Though, some kind of sticky thread, updated on a regular basis (twice a week?) giving some more information, would be perfect.

So why can't this information be posted here? I don't understand this.

That's the point. I'm a customer that's not satisfied with the product. Thus I'ld like to know what BIS is doing about that and until when. I think it stands to reason, that I request more detailed information.

For those of us that have been in the PC gaming for a while understand that new games are ment to have some longevity scaled into them. They run decent on this days hardware but have some future proof built into so options can be turned up to run on tomorrows hardware. Crysis is a great example of how the hardware has grown to allow the game to run well at higher settings..I wouldn't consider ArmA2 playable at a decent level, but that's another story...
If this is going to happen on a regular basis, it could affect the sales. People will sooner or later realize, that it's no good, buying games, when they are new. A copy will cost only a fraction of the price at release, a year or two after. Fine, this will save the customers some money, but I'm not sure, if the publishers would be happy about that.
[EDIT] And yet another post about how to tweak ArmA2. I can't even remember how many I'ver read before... Most people around have spent countless hours on useless tweaking. I've surely spent near 60 hours, to get ArmA2 running (including the time taken for installing different operating systems).

lol, I think the fanboy group would allow me to join them. :) heheeIndeed. :D But you might have to edit some of your posts. ;)

Hm, can you recognize, wether this message is dispatched by Windows or by ArmA2?

Could this be a problem with the swap file? Is there a limit to the size of your swap file? Are you running out of free space on your hard disk drive?

Are you sure that they aren't unique? There are a lot of closed entries, saying duplicate or rejected. But I must admit, that I didn't go through all that 500 reports and actually check whether they're unique.
And honestly, I don't have any idea, how many people are experencing issues or not. All I know is, that 6 members of our LO/FC and BS squad bought ArmA2 and 4 of those are having problems. I know this is far too less for an average, but I guess it's a hint...
What I know for sure is, that in common, only people facing problems, would visit a troubleshooting message board. So I'm not suprised, that not very many people here don't have problems. So this doesn't reveal anything etiher.

Users with a high posting counter could as well be considered fanboys... I had a look at that community issue tracker. There are close to 500 (!) reports. You can't tell me, that a game with almost 500 unique reported issues 'runs fine for the majority'.
-
And do you have any examples? I can't seem to notice any "code insufficiencies", does that exclude me from the majority of users? At least it does exclude you from majority of users being in the troubleshooting forum...

I dont know if everyone realises this but amazingly, the longer they can work on the patch the more they can fix, ESPECIALLY for performance enhancements. Give them a break.Well that is actually the point to discuss about. For sure, you can't blame the developers. It's not their decision, when a product is released. The management decides that. And the management should notice that - again - they released a game far to early. It even puts more work on the developer's shoulders. First they have to build a product that's close to finished, but spending time on fixings bugs only to a certain level. It takes more time, to fix bugs only to a certain level twice, than fixing them at once. And after it's been released they have to double their efforts, to get it running properly ASAP, because the customers are yelling at the poor developers (and poor moderators).
On the other hand, you can't just let the developers decide when a game is finished. There is always something to improve, and since devs tend to want to deliver a perfect product, the release would have to be postponed for another year or two... I see, there are different view angles, but who ever is in charge should be able to find a balance between 'we need the money' and 'it's not finished yet'. If patch 1.03 does fix the problems for most customers, that patch level should have been the one, to initially release.
I have learned my lesson. I will not buy any BIS titles again, before they are patched to a playable level. This will save me money, since this is going to take months and the product is much cheaper by than. But who wants to buy old titles, so I might as well never buy a BIS product again. I guess there are quite some people, who will do the same and BIS has to find out themselves, what's going to cost them more money. Postponing the game for a certain period, or loose money, because the products are not selling very well anymore.
Please excuse my poor English. I hope, at least do understand, what I'm trying to say.

What part of this game needs a monster cpu to run well don't you understand?I do have an i7 920 OCed to 3,6 GHz. I would consider this to be a 'monster CPU'. This is faster than anything avalilable from stock and yet insufficent? DOH!
-
Then you can use diskpart command (google that) to resize your partitions, enlarging your C:\You must be joking?!? He probably has his reasons for that partitions. It is actually something I do as well. I have Windows on C: and all big applications on D:.
It must be a lack of the installer. But who is responsible for it? That's the one to ask for a fix.
Anyway I woudl try to get my money back and buy the DVD copy. You can install to drive D: from the DVD.

Same with me, I am stuck with 25 - 35 FPS, no matter, what I turn on or off and tweak and edit... It's is even worse here, freezes or CTDs every 15 to 20 minutes... I stopped trying weeks ago...
I got an i7 920@3600, Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, 6 GB OCZ Reaper, XFX GTX285 Black Edition and a 4 x 1 TB RAID 0. Win 7 64 RC1.
Since I don't have any other issues on that computer, I doubt very much, that there is a hardware related problem.
Praying for that magic patch appearing soon...
Om mani padme hum.

It's a great idea and I am in love with the game. The producers should have hired better or at least more programmers though...Don't blame the developers, it is not their decision, when a game is released. Blame the management, they take those decisions...
-
...a sticky with weekly updates would work for me with some answers to some questions posted on the forums which seem to be void of BI devs now.I would appreciate this very much!
But I doubt very much that this will happen. Since they don't even give an estimation for the release date of the next patch, I start believing, that the problems are worse than expected. Which means the patch won't be released in the next weeks or even months - they are just afraid of telling us.
-
Well I just had a look at the result page... I wonder if the Core2 CPUs are having the most problems, or if the Core2 is just the most commonly used CPU type?

If you paid and aren't satisfied.... return the item.I wish I could, but I didn't buy it online. And once you have opened the box, you can't return it. That's the way it is in Germany...

Yes, but it don't like beeing ripped-off. I can be a pain in the ass, if I feel ripped off...

Stay on topic.

Somebody said that BIS was on holiday until August so maybe we wont see a prach before thenHm, if they are on holiday, they won't START working on a patch before August. Is there any official statement on that holiday?

LOL, you're not trying to tell us, that fps-counting will redruce the frame rate by an noticable amount?!? I never noticed any difference in any game. If it has any impact, it is negligible. Actually I turned fps-counting on, because I wasn't satisfied with the frame rate and ArmA2 for sure doesn't run any faster, when fps-counting is turned off. Turning on the fps-counting only confirmed my impression...
