  1. There is a small FPS hit but it's worth it for the big visual improvement especially from the air. I have the game running at 1280x1024 with low AA, very high AF, normal textures, low terrain detail, normal object detail, post processing off, view distance 2015. Average FPS was about 50-60 in the air if I wasn't near a huge town like Cherno, on the ground in Cherno FPS was around 25-30.

  2. Word of mouth probably wont help either. ArmA 2 has too many bugs and performance problems for most people to handle. Although I love the game I wont recommend it to any of my friends because I know they'd get frustrated with it. Dragon Rising will appeal to more people because of the advertising and because it will probably be far more accessible to the average gamer.

  3. I didnt go trough whole thread to see if this has been mentioned becouse its too long. So, when I use only weapon sounds I have problems connecting to servers like there wouldnt be a key even if there is one. Whats up with that? Is there a trick I dont know of?

You might need to download the repack version, look for it a few pages back.

  4. I like it. It might be annoying to the pilots but I think it's pretty awesome to be in a fully loaded helicopter and get hit by a missile out of nowhere, it just kind of adds a sense of fear that you can be shot down at any time. If the pilot is good he can autorotate the helicopter to safety. I agree about adding flares though.

  5. Windows 7 64 bit

I think Patch 1.03 MIGHT have improved my performance especially in large towns like Chernogorsk. I can also now enable low AA without an insane drop in FPS. I say MIGHT because I also noticed recently (within the last two days) Windows Update installed the new version of AMD dual core optimizer and DX 11...those could be the cause of my increased performance.

  6. Thanks for your reply.

I tried that. However that doesn't always work. Example (just tested with 2 APCs and 2Urals): It did select two APCs, but it wouldn't select the 2 Urals. I don't know why. The pilot did 3 fly overs.

I just tried this myself and had the same results. I don't know if it's a bug or intentional but it seems anything in the cars category cant be locked on by a hellfire with Tab, only by centering the crosshair on the vehicle and right-clicking. I don't remember having this problem in 1.02.

-edit- helicopter guns are also changed or bugged. Gunners are automatically targeting things even if you have manual fire turned on, and you can no longer Tab-target cars when the gun is selected.

  7. I have had problems running Arma2 at my system.

    My specs= 3,2g X4 955 black edition, 4 gig ram, two ati 4870 1gb, windows xp professional 32 bit.

Running my cards crossfire made my screen have the sunflickering all the time.

Playing with 1 card made artifacts specially in cities.

I dicided to install windows 7 64bit version.

Also by having that installing direct x 11.

All i can say is.... WOW !

    The difference is HUGE !

Game looks perfect, no artifacts, great FPS everywhere.

My cards are running crossfire perfectly

So, people who are still having problems, downloading and installing windows 7 with perhaps direct x 11 is a great try!

    It solved all my problems

    :yay:

Now that you mention it I just noticed Windows 7 did an automatic update with DX11 and the new version of AMD dual core optimizer. I'm getting way better performance now, even when playing online Chernogorsk with a bunch of AI doesn't run bad anymore.
